The property

Ragged Hall Barn is a beautifully presented barn conversion tucked away among the rolling hills of the Forest of Bowland, around six miles from the market town of Settle.

Offering ample off-road parking, an enclosed garden and inviting interiors filled with original features, this spacious property is ideal for families and groups seeking a peaceful escape surrounded by countryside.

Set in a wonderfully secluded position, Ragged Hall Barn feels far removed from the pace of everyday life.

The surrounding hills and farmland create a timeless atmosphere, making it the perfect place for those looking to switch off, spend time together and enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside.

Park with ease before stepping inside to discover a welcoming home where traditional features are complemented by a practical and comfortable layout.

Original exposed beams add warmth and charm throughout, while the generous living spaces provide plenty of room for everyone to gather together or find a quiet corner of their own.

The sitting room forms a natural focal point for your stay, with the woodburning stove creating a cosy setting for evenings spent chatting, reading or planning the following day’s adventures.

Close by, the kitchen/diner offers a sociable space in which to prepare and enjoy meals together.

Begin the morning with breakfast around the table before heading out for the day, or return after an afternoon in the countryside to share a hearty home-cooked supper.

When it is time to unwind, four double bedrooms provide comfortable accommodation for the whole group.

These include a convenient ground-floor double bedroom and a further double bedroom with its own en-suite walk-in shower.

A family bathroom and an additional cloakroom complete the interior, helping to keep busy mornings running smoothly.

Outside, the enclosed garden offers a private place to relax with a drink, enjoy the fresh country air or take in the peaceful surroundings.

The fields immediately surrounding the barn also belong to the property, while a beck running behind the house provides a picturesque setting for a picnic beside the water.

The surrounding Forest of Bowland is an excellent destination for walking and cycling, with miles of unspoilt countryside waiting to be explored.

Gisburn Forest and Stocks is particularly popular with walkers and mountain bikers, offering woodland trails, dramatic scenery and dedicated cycling routes.

Those seeking a greater challenge can venture towards the Yorkshire Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, while the striking limestone scenery around Malham, including the famous Malham Cove, makes for another memorable day out.

Around six miles away, Settle offers independent shops, cafés and traditional pubs, along with access to further walking routes through the surrounding countryside.

The Lake District is also within reach for a day trip, providing even more opportunities to discover the spectacular landscapes of northern England.

After a day spent walking, cycling or exploring the hills, return to the comfort of Ragged Hall Barn, light the woodburning stove and settle into the peace of this wonderfully secluded retreat.

SETTLE

Malham 6 miles; Skipton 17 miles; Kendal 25 miles.

The bustling market town of Settle lies at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Tuesday is market day in Settle, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods. The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Settle is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
