Bridge House Cottage is a charming, single-storey dwelling situated in the village of Burn Bridge near Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

It is a 300-year-old converted property and was once part of an old water mill complex.

This dog-friendly cottage is set in a private courtyard, and provides off-street parking for one car, making it perfect for families or friends seeking a bolt hole from which to explore Yorkshire.

There is additional on-road parking just 25 metres away with no permit or disc required.

The quality kitchen is well-equipped with every kitchen essential you are likely to need, making it easy to prepare home-cooked meals during your stay.

Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area includes a small dining table which can be repositioned and opened out to accommodate up to four for seated meals.

The sitting area, complete with a woodburning stove and Smart TV, offers a welcoming space to unwind after a day of exploration.

Sink into the plush seating and let the warmth of the fire envelop you as you catch up on your favourite shows or delve into a good book.

As the day draws to a close, retire to one of the two inviting bedrooms.

The first is a flexible king-size room, which can be arranged as a twin room on request, while the second bedroom features a snug single bed with a handy trundle bed underneath, perfect for children.

The property also benefits from a gorgeous shower room, complete with a walk-in overhead shower, handheld shower, and high-level Victorian-style WC and handbasin, providing a beautiful space to prepare for each day.

Step out of your delightful cottage, and there is a small patio area looking out onto a gorgeous courtyard and beautiful old stone buildings.

There is seating outside for four, together with a parasol for relief in hot weather, and a table-top barbecue can be pre-booked for use during your stay.

Pannal Cricket ground is just on the other side of the courtyard, so the sound of leather on willow adds a lovely backdrop in the summer months.

The local pub, The Black Swan at Burn Bridge, is a short walk away, with the Square and Compass also within handy reach, both serving delicious pub fare and real ales.

The local Co-operative food store, Post Office and Pannal Station are also within an eight-minute walk.

The walk is mostly on attractive country paths with features including becks, rivers, viaducts, woodland and indeed most of the attractive features found in the British countryside.

There are even crags to explore on the route.

Many shorter walks can be fashioned from points on the Ringway as it can be divided into shorter stages, or for the seriously minded, it can be linked with the Knaresborough Round to form a 36-mile route.

The reservoirs of Swinstry, Fewston.

HARROGATE

Skipton 21 miles; York 21 miles.

The small village of Habberley lies near the Stiperstones and has several attractive half-timbered houses including Habberley Hall which dates back to the 16th century and was once home to the Mytton family, a famous member being Jack Mytton after whom the 100 mile long Jack Mytton Way was named. The local pub also bears the family name, the Mytton Arms. The beautiful village of Pontesbury is only a few miles away and has lovely shops, pubs and restaurants. Shrewsbury is full of higgledy-piggledy streets, and a river that scoops up the town in a loop. A mix of the very old and the very new, the quirky and the one-off. Set amidst glorious countryside near to the Welsh Borders, it is one of England's finest medieval market towns. The town centre is packed with timber-framed Black and White buildings, steep narrow streets and alleyways. There are over 600 listed buildings including the Castle, now a regimental museum, and the world-famous Shrewsbury Abbey, home of the fictional Brother Cadfael.
