Comfy beds. The fridge freezer is past it's best, very noisy and too cold, froze a lot of the stuff we just wanted to be cool. The caretakers were responsive and helped promptly with some minor hitches.

We have turned this into an annual trip (for our wedding anniversary - every March) but also reattended in July of this year as we just love the highlands. There is so much to do and see but also the relaxing part of it too. It suits us perfectly and Harry (our jack Russell) just loves it here! See you in March 2025. We have tried to rebook but the calendar isn't available yet!

  • "The lodge is 10 minutes from the A road."

The road is single track through stunning scenery with passing places. The lodge is secluded in beautiful surroundings with wildlife in abundance. We especially loved the pair of woodpeckers who visited us daily. The lodge is well equipped with everything you need and the hotub was a bonus after a day walking the hills. It was literally a little slice of peace and quiet and so good to recharge. No big negatives other than the bathroom could do with brighter lighting and we couldn't get radiator to work so a bit chilli, but nothing major. We were also a little surprised lying in bed to find a chap mowing the lawn - would have been nice to be told so o surprises when we opened the curtains! We loved our stay and the deer who also visited us at the lodge thank you. An amazing place.

It’s very pungent. No instructions on how to use hot tub in the information pack. A lot of dust and cobwebs on flowers in the dining room. The non alcoholic drinks were 2 weeks out of date.

  • "We returned after coming last Jan and falling in love with this place, but unfortunately as previous reviews state, there has been a decline in standards and I would not book again until reviews reflect improvement."

The lodge is lovely, very remote and being sat in the hot tub at night looking at the stars is perfect. Adore this stunning area, the locals, all the wildlife. However, the hot tub light is broken so you’re sat in pitch black, the patio doors are broken and can’t be used, second bedroom light is broken (commented on in reviews in December) the bedside drawers in same room are broken, main bedroom curtain pole falls off when you open curtains, large area of mould on bathroom ceiling, washing machine broken, bed covers old without buttons, freezer unclean with melted lolly in the bottom. Most annoyingly, a workman (lovely man) turned up without us being told, to do something to the water while I was part way through cooking, then we had a text message to say another unrelated workman would be coming the day after, which left us annoyed when we’re on holiday.

  • "Had another lovely stay, the location is just lovely and we will more than likely return because we love it so much."

The property is really lovely but i did notice a decline in the general cleanliness and maintenance since last time which was a shame and i hope it doesn't continue to go downhill. the Jets in the bath weren't working but we weren't too concerned as the shower worked and we had the hot tub to chill in when it wasn't raining (an optional cover of sorts would be a brilliant addition to allow all weather use of the hot tub) the washing machine wasn't working either but i guess these things happen. Bulbs out in the spare room and outside area, filthy windows, cobwebs etc. Don't get me wrong, nothing that spoiled the break but worth mentioning to get things back up to par for the next guests. The road down to the lodge proved to be tricky again even though we were in a higher up vehicle this time. Really needs a bit of attention - not everyone has 4x4s!! On a positive note, it really is a special location, miles and miles of stunning walks and trails, wildlife galore, peace and quiet.

  • "A lovely cottage for a break away with the dogs."

They loved the garden, which was fenced in. We had a great week, and despite previous reviews complaining about how remote it was, Spean Bridge was a 10-15 minute drive away and Fort William not much further up the road. As the Highlands of Scotland go, that's not "too remote". Fersit cottage is set in an idyllic location on a private road, so it was ideal for us, as we were there to escape the fireworks for the dog. The only negative is, if the hot tub had some kind of gazebo or shelter over it, it would have been used more often. As it is, it's just in the middle of the garden with no shelter. All in all though, a great cottage, well equipped to relax and unwind.

  • "Outstanding location where all you can here is the breeze in the trees and the waterfalls on the mountain."

It’s a 10 minute drive from the main road with some gravel roads. I think a 4x4 would be needed in the winter. We bought the OS app before we arrived which meant we found beautiful walks direct from the door. Walking to the local loch was such a marvellous experience seeing something so vast yet not meeting another person. My children loved walking up the mountain tracks watching the sunset then paddling in freezing cold streams. The lodge itself is a delight. It was well equipped which meant we could make lovely meals from scratch. The fire is huge so take plenty of logs. The water has a slight yellow tinge from the peat but entirely expected in the highlands and it is well filtered. The hot tub was fun although I personally wish it could have been a bit hotter. There weren’t any instructions mentioning this at all. All in all it is a perfect location for those wanting to escape from the daily grind and traffic noise. I would go back in a heart beat!

  • "Where to start!"

Before the holiday l phoned Sykes no less than 4 times to see if a high chair and travel cot were available for a foster child we were not originally taking with us. Finally 10 days before we were due to leave Sykes informed us that neither were. We therefore purchased one only to find on on our arrival that there were 2 travel cots in the main bedroom wardrobe. We were aware that the log cabin was 3 miles along a single track road what we were not aware of was the last half mile was rubble, great for the shock absorbers!!. The hot tub was never used due to midges which took over particularly the 1st week. The Jacuzzi looked the part but was totally off putting by the peat coloured water and the warning in the welcome pack about legionnaires disease. Add to this the dish washer where a dryer would be more useful due to rain almost every day. The toilet flushed but you had to wait 10 minutes for it to refill. Then we come to the lights ( there were spare bulbs but not the right ones). No bulb to main light in 2nd bedroom, 1 bulb out in the poorest lit bathroom ever, no lights working in the hallway ( no window) Underlight in kitchen not working The garden light didn't work. Curtains that were not enough with inadequate lining, it was daylight at 5.30 in the morning!. The table in the kitchen was wobbling and we had to tighten nuts so it didn't collapse. The vacuum cleaner was beyond useless which then brings us to cleaning, don't look under the lounge seating !!! Windows are they ever cleaned and the frames when a window was opened at the end of the holiday never have been. We had the instructions in the welcome pack to take all rubbish to the bins down the 1/2 mile track as the council refuse to use the road !! ?. Some crockery was chipped and didn't match ! On the Monday of the second week we were awoken by a truck and trailer going past our bedroom window followed an hour and half of mower and Strummer. On the Thursday ( owner informed us) Electrician appointment for a PAT test. Seems the basics are overshadowed. Have to say when everything was put together it combined for the least enjoyable holiday in years !!!.

The cottage was nice and clean and had all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. Lovely walks from the door and a big garden for the dog. Only very minor point was that the dog realised he could squeeze through the gaps in the gate and the sections of wooden fencing either side. He's a Skye Terrier, so not tiny, bigger than a Westie. It just meant we had to keep an extra eye on him. Aside from that, a great cottage in a fantastic area. Very quiet as you're 2.5 miles down a single track no through road. Thoughtful welcome gifts of fizz and miniature gin/whisky. Would visit again.

Cleanliness of the lodge wasn’t up to par, cobwebs etc, we had 2 huskies and the hoover started off working and was as good as useless! Then it stopped working altogether lol. Not ideal for a week with 2 hairy dogs. The toaster needs replacing, the water filtration system started beeping, tried to contact property management and no response, so my husband managed to silence it after Google search. Also the quilt and pillows are way past their best. Some mould in bathroom corner too. The addition of the hot tub was brilliant. Sadly our experience was dampened by the fact that the oven didn’t work. We attempted to contact the property manager but to no avail before contacting Sykes who managed to get the manager to contact us. They couldn’t understand why the “brand new” oven wasn’t working and said they would “google it and get back to me”…they never did. So, we had to buy more food that was suitable for hob or microwave cooking and waste the food we had bought originally. It is a remote place and there was snow about but really to have zero further contact is very poor service. This is our favourite cottage we have stayed at but wouldn’t certainly look elsewhere in future now.

The dishwasher was not usable as the program button was missing so some bare electrical contacts were showing. The microwave turntable did not operate. There was supposed to be a DVD player, there was not one. And the icing on the cake was the beds!!! We were going to sleep in the two single beds as there was more room than the double but the springs stuck in us so much it was impossible so we made do with the double. This was pretty uncomfortable too so I thought I would try turning the mattress over. When I did what I discovered made me feel ill. It was absolutely filthy and covered in urine stains!!!!! I have seen better on council dumps. We went and purchased two sleeping bags so we could sleep on top of the duvet but come Wednsday the thought of what might be under us and could stand no more and we packed up and left.
