"This is a copy/paste of the email we sent you on 25 October, which remains unacknowledged as of today, 07 November."
Hello,
We returned from our holiday yesterday and just wanted to raise a few things with you.
1) The main issue is one of comfort. The sofa springs have failed and the whole thing needs to be replaced. We ended up having to put pillows from the beds underneath the sofa cushions to make it bearable. The two armchairs are extremely uncomfortable - again, the springs appear to have failed, so unfortunately they were not a comfortable alternative to the sofa. The mattresses on both beds are extremely soft and lumpy. All of this meant we seriously considered bailing out of the holiday after the second night, but we persevered as we did not want to lose money. This is the fourth time we have stayed at 6 Partanhall, and this is the only time we have felt this way.
2) The cleanliness of the cottage. Generally, it was ok, but there were some areas which really weren't acceptable. See attached 2 x photos of the inside of the oven as a prime example. There were toenail clippings between the sofa cushions. Lots of cobwebs throughout the house. Windows facing the sea were dirty and hindered the view (we've had this problem on previous visits and ended up cleaning them ourselves). I went to adjust the position of the TV on the wall and it was disgustingly filthy behind there. Rubber mat on the kitchen draining board had brown sludge in the corners. There was what appeared to be food residue in the kitchen sink overflow.
3) The bath is leaking. This was also the case when we last visited, in April this year (and we reported it). The leak is coming from under the plughole, and when you empty the bath you end up with a large pool of water on the floor. The cleaner has been informed about this.
4) Toilet is constantly dripping water down the back of the bowl. Again, we reported this last time. It does appear to have been looked at (last time it was noisy during the night, which meant we had to shut off the water to it, and this wasn't the case this time thankfully) but it is still faulty, so just bringing this to your attention.
5) The cleaner tried to gain entry to the property before the checkout time of 10am. We were taking the rubbish to the bins by the harbour when she tried to get in. When we returned at 0955, we went in to quickly use the toilet before leaving at 1000. The cleaner told us she was waiting to get in, and she said we should have been gone at 0930. I had already checked the email from you, which states checkout time is 1000. The cleaner disagreed and said 'the book' says the time is 0930.

"6 Partan Cottage is a very special place - beautifully fitted out, in a stunning location."
Yes the access road takes a bit of getting used to but so worth it to enjoy this peaceful hideaway within 5 minutes of the A1! Plenty to watch out for in the bay - bring binoculars! Recommend Coldingham beach, Dryburgh and Melrose, Holy Island and just driving through the Lammermuir Hills. You're in for a treat!

"This cottage is in a perfect location to unwind and be close to nature."
Although the village itself has no facilities it only a short drive to Berwick on Tweed that has everything you should need. There is an unmade road between the cottage and the sea (when the tide is in) or rocks when it's out. Herons, Oystercatchers and seals can be seen, with a possible sighting of a Minke Whale. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, well laid out and a perfect size. The kitchen was well equipped with all you needed. Although there is seating at the rear this was up a narrow, steep set of stairs and you only had a limited view of the sea. There are two possible routes in by car one requires you to perform a three point turn due to a hairpin bend, the other is an unmade track (which isn't for the car proud). Don't let the access put you off, we would fully recommend Partan cottage and would love to use it again, however it is up for sale so might not be available for long.

"The cottage was in an idyllic spot with lovely sea views."
The only negative inside was the chairs and sofa were not very comfortable. The shower was wasn’t a shower as such. Just a hand held shower over the bath But it was difficult to stand up and use, Due to limited head space over bath. Don’t use the direction instructions as the road down to the cottage is not in a very good state with a narrow turn at the bottom. Ok if you have a 4 x 4. It’s much safer to use the harbour road to gain access and exit. What the other residents in the other cottages were doing.

"Nothing much changes at Partanhall."
Nothing new has been built here in seventy years. The lady next door has lived here for over half a century. Traffic management consists of a rope stretched across the road acting as a speed hump. Despite all that the cottage lacks nothing in modern amenities. Beds are comfortable and everything is clean and tidy. For the benefit of others, if you want live tv then either press ITV-X or BBC-I-player and press on ‘live tv’. We loved it here and would recommend it to others.

"I'm sorry to say that i was disappointed but had you worded your listing better it wouldn't have been too bad, on the whole the cottage was well equipped and clean beds comfy but not enough hanging space for clothes."
you said shower over bath but it is not it's a shower tap for rinsing as myself and my husband can not use a bath we thought this would be ok to stand in the bath and shower but unless you are a very very short person this is impossible, so we had to use a b&b just to shower. the sitting area furniture is so uncomfortable especially the settee i think it is collapsing it would be nice to have a couple of folding chairs for outside and an ironing board also someone needs to clean out side the back door it was a mess and the door doesn't open properly .lastly the junk at the side of the cottage is an eyesore. i'm sorry to say i have stayed in better two star for quality of furniture

"Beautiful cottage, we really didn’t want to leave."
The sea is literally feet away, the views are absolutely stunning.
The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable.
As has been said before the check in and out times are not very friendly and an extra hour at either end would have been great.
A lovely relaxing stay, we would love to return.

"Had a great 3 night stay in Partan Cottage."
Absolutely loved listening to the waves outside. Cottage cosy and very comfy beds. Owner very helpful post and pre stay. Only little negative was couldnt find a hair dryer or any extra black bin liners. Would love to come and stay again some time and would definitely recommend to others.

"Super stay that had to cut short due to a family matter."
Super cottage kept immaculately. Amazing for wildlife watching: grey seals, Eider ducks, great northern divers and gannets right outside the front door. Would have appreciated more info about the area, perhaps a visitors book for tips and ideas, and clear markings on the bins as had no idea which was mine because none were marked. I feel the 5pm check in is far far too late - a whole day gone, especially in winter, and would urge the owners to consider bringing this forward.

"Amazing stay with beautiful scenery and overall a clean, stunning cottage."
The beds were very comfy with lovely bedding and the views were fantastic. A couple of points to overall improve the experience - the check in and check out times are pretty unreasonable, and you cannot have a stand up shower due to the sloping ceiling (bath was amazing, but this could be a problem for some). A note for dog owners there are a lot of ticks in the back garden (obviously cannot be helped but just one to be prepared for). Also - much easier to follow the road access from the other path (instead of the private access marked road).

"Good property, great location."
Attention to detail really shown through the property.
Open plan lounge/kitchen big plus. Bathroom superb.
Only minus points were 9:30 check-out and 5pm check- in. Also parking should be marked off to stop other residents taking your allocated space. This was resolved but totally avoidable. Who wants to see their cars from your window!!.

"Lovely comfortable cottage in an idyllic location."
Absolutely gorgeous.
But a surprising lack of information about the cottage, its equipment, and the area. And the information about what to do with rubbish was inaccurate - there are no bins marked 6 Partenhall in the specified location. There were no manuals for the equipment and no visitors’ book which might have useful recommendations from previous guests. And despite there being 12 dining plates there were only 3 dessert/cereal bowls and no casserole dish. There were only 2 dishwasher tablets and no spare bin bags.

"We absolutely loved the cottage."
On arrival, it was warm, which was most welcome on a very cold and windy day, and spotlessly clean. It was also a lovely surprise to find a bottle of red wine to enjoy with our evening meal. Thank you. I would recommend this cottage to anyone visiting the beautiful area.
There was only one thing that would make the stay better and that is having a shower rather than a bath. It was a struggle to get in and out of the bath.
