Was looking forward to our holiday to get away from our neighbour who always out cutting grass so looking forward to quiet time, Wake up on Saturday thought I was back home because of the lawnmower from owner this happened few times in week couldn’t believe it plus the noise of main road so when left on Friday we went to see if we could get on caravan Park for weekend in Coldstream lucky for us we did ☺️

  • "This has to have been the most filthy dirty property we have ever stayed in !"

!!! We left early contacted owner to provide feedback and no response. It looked like someone was there day before according to book but no excuse for not cleaning tbh I have taken pictures but kitchen was disgusting, food on walls, cupboards dirty inside & out, skirtings covered in food window frames dirty. Crockery had to be washed before we could even have cuppa. Bathroom nightmare, tile grout lifting so you stand on it when showering & the wet room idea does not work took all day to dry & mop was just moving water around, disgusting to use filthy.

We're very surprised and disappointed by your comments regarding cleanliness, as they do not reflect the standards we maintain or the experience of our other guests. Our property undergoes a rigorous cleaning and inspection process before every booking, and we have consistently received positive feedback in this area. At no point during your stay did you report any issues to us, which would have allowed us the opportunity to investigate and address any concerns immediately. We take guest satisfaction seriously and always encourage open communication during a visit so we can resolve any problems in real time. We stand by the cleanliness and care of our holiday let, and we believe this review is not a fair reflection of our accommodation. That said, we appreciate all feedback and wish you the best in your future travels Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at honeysuckle cottage, it's in the perfect location with stunning scenery."

There was a high standard of cleanliness throughout and plenty of facilities. The 2 bedrooms were large and a very spacious living room. The kitchen/dining area had everything you would need for a stay and more and looked out over a very spacious garden. The location was perfectly set between lots of places to venture and explore. We would certainly recommend staying here and would consider re-booking in the future.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at Honeysuckle cottage and only wished we could have stayed longer!"

It was spacious and comfortable, the only reason why I gave it 9/10 was because it was lacking a few items in the kitchen (weighing scales, spatula, tongs) which I find handy when cooking. The garden was spacious and generally lovely! The location was ideal as we ventured out to various parts of Northumberland and parts of Scotland all breathtaking and beautiful!

  • "Honeysuckle cottage is ideally located for exploring North Northumberland and the owner has refurbished the former Coach House hotel to form self-contained flatlets of a high standard."

As with any new-build there are some areas that only time and honest feedback will perfect, for example there is no shaver socket in the bathroom and the inventory is currently relatively minimal, however the owner's responsiveness to our request for a mop and hairdryer was exemplary and cleanliness was good on arrival. It is indisputable that the front bedroom is directly on the main road, and some may be disturbed by the associated traffic, fortunately we only used the room as additional wardrobe space! Whilst we were staying there were no issues streaming the to the smart TV and web-surfing but otherwise mobile telephone coverage is poor in the area. All in all, a very pleasant week in stunning countryside boosted by glorious autumn weather. Feeding back to Sykes Cottages in general; can we please ask that all property owners provide the EXACT grid reference of the property in the directions (OSGB or W3W) and that the pre-booking property description includes a detailed accessibility statement and fire risk assessment. Personally, I look for assistance rails in wet-rooms, appropriate fire / CO detectors, suitable escape lighting and exits that can be easily opened in an emergency.

  • "Beautiful relaxing and comfortable ."

We have had a wonderful holiday, the location is perfect for exploring . A fabulous location if you have children in castles. We particularly enjoyed visiting the villages of Ford and Etal , where there are some beautiful little independent craft shops selling handmade treasures. The people of the border towns are very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble .

  • "Disappointed with description as cottage garden was enclosed and the photo of the garden was very carefully taken to indicate this was the garden for honeys cottage, in fact the garden was shared by 2 cottages both belonging to the same owner."

This was not stated on the individual description of either cottage. On Skye’s page underneath the individual disruptions right at the bottom was the line some areas of the garden could be shared. The whole garden was shared with dogs all sharing the whole area. Luckily all the dogs were the same smaller size but could get into each others cottages as the doors were open as the weather was hot. Also privacy was an issue as the door to the other property and their patio table and chairs / barbecue was directly opposite the two full length glass doors to the bedroom with the bed 1 meter from the window. The wet room constantly flooded ,the owner sent his friend to address this and the trap was overflowing with hair and waste, but this continued to flood all the time. The heating was coming on at 2 or 3 am in the early morning and could not be altered again the friend kindly came to assist but could not solve the issue so we had to turn everything off and back on when hot water needed and the fan in the kitchen and the dishwasher did not work so we opened the window and washed up by hand. The cottage is lovely nicely furnished very basic with utensils and crockery but ok .Directly on the side of a busy main road and getting in and out of the drive is difficult and could be dangerous if not careful. The owner was informed by message about the folding issues heating etc but made no response but his friend Brett was kind and apologetic Sykes did listen but were somewhat dismissive of the our concerns pointing out the sentence that some of the garden could be shared. The other people staying in the other cottage also spoke to Sykes and were told they could use the garden and the 2 acre meadow as stated in their holiday description to exercise their dogs they could not as the grass was 2 ft high. Sykes did give us a refund of £50 ‘as we had to wash up as the dishwasher was not working’.

Hmmmm. Hard to know where to start with this one. How about at the beginning. This might give others some indication of you. Your first complaint was that you had been told by another guest there were “apparently workmen's vans in the car park” BEFORE you arrived. Yes..there were. They are great guests and left at 7.30am on the day you arrived…at 3.30pm…six hours later! You never saw the vans. You then texted to say there was a thumbmark on the microwave door. We apologised for that dreadful oversight. I know you found it difficult to grasp the concept of the wet room. It is designed to get wet. To be clear; there was no flooding elsewhere. A little fib! I got a dishwasher repair chap round when you left…he found someone had unplugged it from under the sink. I wonder who? You said the fans didn’t work. They do. Syke’s is clear about the shared gardens. We have two acres to enjoy. The sheep keep much of the paddock grass down so it’s nowhere near two feet high. I know you also found the concept of our wildflower meadow confusing , telling us it was overgrown and meant there was no garden. The meadow is adjacent to a mown lawn. Strange you didn’t see that as it was at your back door. Each seating area is enclosed and safe for pets. I will happily show anyone the two texts you sent, both of which were promptly replied to. My partner spent an hour listening to your long list of things you didn’t like…not just confined to this property but Britain and the wider world too. He had such fun listening. Yes it is a main road. But never that busy. Thankfully you managed to negotiate it and get home safely. Enjoy your £50. Property Owner
