A beautiful well equipped cottage , beds very comfy, the cottage is in a lovely village and would highly recommend the butchers , the villagers were very welcoming and helpful, we had a takeaway from the masons arms which was good , the Victoria hotel had a warm welcome but only did food at lunchtime, we visited chain bridge honey farm which was nearby and well worth a visit, it was one of the best cottages we have had in a lovely setting and we are sure we will be back in the future

  • "An excellent and charcterful property with the soaring ceiling of the living accommodation - made cosy by the fire and underfloor heating."

Fully equiped kitchen with plenty of storage too. A great base for a relaxed and comfortable break. Bedroom heating was a little less predictable but still comfortable.

  • "The info book needs some updating eg I suspect someine files a page without filking in details of nearest GP / Hospital etc."

Probably ditto re heating - it says controlled by an app on owners phone,we later found 2 thermostats. But there was a rather marked temp difference between master bedroom (quite cold) and other twin rooms. Kitchen equipment really good. Though lid missing for steamer. Very good selection casserole dishes / roasting tins / knives etc. Even an air fryer - though this is in the 'vestibule' for want of a different word. 2 fridges, one is huge. Found the mop / bucket, couldnt find a dustpan though plenty of long handled brushes. Iron / ironing board, decent airer, vaccuum etc. Very decent supply of logs for log burner Village shop had far more veg than i expected, butchers is brilliant. Victoria hotel lovely for lunch. Only visited the Masons on last day for bacon sandwich - which was lovely. Its obviously had a lot of investment, the front looks like a typical 'mans' pub, bit dark, lots of fishing rods and local photos, lots of bottles. The lounge / restaurant are totally different - bright, airy and newly decorated.

  • "The Old Chapel was a truly amazing place to stay."

We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would highly recommend other families to stay there, too. Everything was so well considered and the facilities and equipment were extensive. Thank you for a superb accommodation in a lovely location.

  • "Ideally located for exploring the surrounding area."

Norham is a lovely village. The Old Chapel has the best equipped kitchen by far of any properties we have rented. The only negative is that the in-house documentation was sadly lacking in any contact numbers. We know the area very well and so this wasn't an issue for us, but for people visiting for the first time, it could cause a problem. We would happily visit again.

  • "We have stayed in quite a few properties with Sykes and this one is up there with the best."

It is tastefully decorated and everything you need is provided. It is also well placed for visiting surrounding areas or if you prefer to stay in the village the locals are extremely friendly. Only one drawback was the fact that we had to contact the owner to ask for the heating to be turned up downstairs as it is worked from the owners app, we found this a bit awkward whereas in other properties we have just turned it up if we were cold, to be fair we visited at a week when the temperature dipped considerably and the heating may not have been set to accomodate this. When we called someone did come within 15 minutes, played about with it but it didn't make much difference, this was for downstairs as upstairs was lovely and warm. There is a log burner downstairs but when you are going out it's not right to keep it burning. Overall though this is a great place to stay.

  • "The best holiday let so far, and I have been to many , masons arms is a good place for food and a cracking pint of landlord."

Would highly recommend, good supply of logs for the fire and well worth leaving a contribution towards the logs . ++++

  • "We stayed for 4 nights and absolutely loved it."

The Old Chapel is a stunning house with plenty of space to unwind after long walks. The entrance area is excellent — especially for the four-legged ones to cool down after a day at the beach! The bedrooms are lovely, each with its own en suite, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need to make a delicious dinner. The whole place is tastefully decorated, and the atmospheric lighting makes it feel extra special in the evenings. The garden is enclosed (mix 4ft/5ft), which was great for the dogs. The neighbours at the back do require occasional access through the garden for putting bins out, but it wasn’t an issue — we just made sure all the gates were closed before letting the dogs out. The photos really don’t do this place justice — it’s even more beautiful in person. We’d definitely recommend The Old Chapel. Thanks Kirsty for sharing your beautiful home.
