  • "Lovely well equipped cottage in a beautiful location and spotlessly clean."

    Lovely view from the back of the property made sitting out a joy. Beds were very soft which was not ideal for our party, but this is a personal preference. We had a problem with one of the bathrooms but this was fixed quickly and did not impact our stay, excellent communication from the owner.

  • "We've stayed in many places over the years and Runglee is by far the best."

    Cottage had everything we needed and more, inckuding quality fixtures, comfortable beds and lots of extras, including soap/shower gel etc. There was also a welcome pack on arrival and milk in the fridge. Host is extremely friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Cottage is in a great location for exploring the Scottish borders and Northumberland. I would also highly recommend the short drive to Berwick to get a train to Edinburgh - much better than driving to the city and trains run every half an hour or so. If you're considering booking Runglee, we would highly recommend that you do, its a fabulous place to relax and unwind after a busy day exploring. Thank you Vanessa and Rob, for letting us stay in your beautiful property.

  • "Wonderful, comfortable stay at Runglee."

    We have stayed in many holiday homes and this is one of the best! The bungalow is extremely spacious and we found it to be clean and very well catered for. The dogs loved the wrap around enclosed garden and the view is to die for! We cannot recommend highly enough and would not hesitate to return if staying in the area again.     We enjoyed the sun room the most which as was ideal for staying with our dog.   • "For our first holiday in Scotland we chose to visit the South Eastern part of the Country, and found an excellent property - ‘Runglee’."

    Owned by Vanessa and her lovely family, on arrival we were provided with a very helpful welcome pack with fresh bread, milk, honey and eggs. The property is spacious, beautifully furnished, with cosy sitting room and sun room, and the beds are exquisitely comfortable. The kitchen is particularly well furnished with everything required to assist those who like to self-cater. There is much to see and do in the area with many Historic Homes and Castles, and quaint towns to visit, with Edinburgh also within easy reach for a day out. Over recent years, we have used Sykes properties many, many times and can honestly state that this property is far and away the most well-appointed and comfortable of any that we have rented before, book now to avoid the rush!

    Having views across the neighbour's property and open farmland to the Cheviot Hills. We found the property to be warm with a well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. We rate this property for its quiet and peaceful location but also for its dog-friendly enclosed lawn area surrounding the property.

Berwick-upon-Tweed 15 miles.

The small border town of Duns is set in a wide valley known as The Merse and was once the capital of the Scottish Borders, when the current capital, Berwick-upon-Tweed, was under English rule. The town offers a good range of shops, including an award-winning butchers and quality delicatessen, pubs and restaurants, whilst the Jim Clark Museum is open to the public in honour of the famous racing driver who lived in the area. Duns Castle sits within a nature reserve with well-marked woodland lakeside walks through the castle estate. There are many castles and historic houses scattered throughout the surrounding area, including Manderston House (home of Lord Palmer), Floors Castle and Gardens, the largest inhabited house in Scotland, Norham Castle situated on the River Tweed, Mellerstain House and Paxton House and Country Park. A short drive to the east coast offers the opportunity to explore the dog friendly beaches at Coldingham or for the more adventurous why not learn to surf at the local surf school. Widely acclaimed golfing is available at Duns and nearby Dunbar whilst fishing for trout and salmon on the Tweed and Whiteadder River is also available with permits available locally. The nearby walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is well worth a visit with weekly markets, town trails and a cinema. A short hop to Eyemouth to feed the resident harbour seals, enjoy award-winning fish and chips or take a boat trip for some coastal exploration. The sights and excitement of Edinburgh are just 45 miles away and numerous other destinations are within a short driving distance of this fantastic location providing a great base at any time of the year for exploring the beautiful Scottish Border region and the picturesque, exhilarating North Northumberland regions.
