    The house is well equipped , everything had been thought of. It’s homely and tastefully decorated. We really appreciated the call from Sue before and when we had arrived. It was brilliant having a station so close, we had a lovely day going back to Newcastle. We thoroughly enjoyed walking to Alnmouth along the river and along the beach.

  • "We (2 adults and a 14 year old) were lucky enough to spend a wonderful week at Rose Cottage."

    The property was immaculate and beautifully furnished, absolutely spotless with everything (& more!) you could possibly need including a lovely welcome pack. The location is fantastic with lovely walks on your doorstep as well as numerous castles, beaches and villages just a short drive away. We also caught the train to Edinburgh for the day from the local train station. The property owner, Sue, was wonderful with lots of tips and advice before we arrived and also upon arrival. Communication was great and I know that, if we had needed anything at all during our stay, she would've helped us immediately.

    It was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated, with nice touches, such as the bright cushions, vases and even fresh roses. The kitchen was well-equipped and we ate in more than we had originally intended. We also enjoyed breakfast in the garden. We appreciated the phone call from Sue on our arrival to make sure everything was OK and the welcome pack was the best we’ve ever had. This is a great location for access to the stunning Northumberland coastline and the town of Alnwick. We shall definitely return.

    We were contacted by the friendly host with all the necessary information, plus other tips and lots of help for our visit. On arrival we were delighted to find the cottage warm and welcoming, and most generous welcome pack we have ever seen. The cottage is in immaculate condition. We immediately felt at home.and relaxed. The property is very well placed in an attractive village, and gives easy access for walks along the coast, There is a regular bus services with stops nearby (100yds) which give reliable transport along the coastal villages for linear walks along the beaches. All in all, a super stay, and one we look forward to returning to, Many thanks.

  • "This is a beautiful cottage which we cannot recommend highly enough."

    The hostess was so kind and helpful and there was a very generous welcome pack of unexpected goodies! The cottage was immaculate and well equipped. The location was wonderfully central for exploring this beautiful area. We had a car but there are local buses which stop just along the road. There is also a post office / shop, local pub (currently closed) and a welcoming church. Very many thanks to our hostess for a wonderful stay.

  • "The cottage is very clean, comfortable and a home from home."

    The small courtyard garden was a lovely place to sit and relax with a cuppa. The welcome pack provided by the owners is exceptional, we have never seen such a range of items. The cottage is well situated for exploring the areas around Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Cragside, and a host of other coastal villages, gardens and houses. We were a little disappointed to find the local pub is still closed but we did find a traditional pub in the village of Rennington, the Horseshoes. There are lots of places to eat in Alnmouth, but be warned, parking is very limited apart from the beach car park. The extra special touches for us were the phone calls with Sue, before we arrived and the day of arrival, this is a nice touch and shows great care for their customers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay a Rose Cottage.

    It is delightful, comfortable, relaxing and spotlessly clean. Sue, the owner, was great leaving a very generous welcome basket and making sure we understood the heating controls and ensured any problems would be immediately put right. My husband and I had a lovely week and after a year on and off of lockdown was just the tonic we needed and we could not have wished for a more wonderful week. Thumbs up to Northumberland as a holiday destination the beaches are amazing and the little coastal villages idyllic. Thank you to Sue and Sykes Cottages for finding us the perfect holiday home.

    Couldn't fault anything. The cottage immaculate and situated in a lovely village and accessible to so many interesting places of interest ..Sue(owner) couldn't have been more helpful in ensuring our stay would be comfortable, leaving a very generous welcome pack. Lovely walks from the cottage...river and coastal rambles... Alnwick approx 3 miles away.Warkworth,Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses and other popular places nearby. We enjoyed tasty meals in Alnmouth which offered quite a few good eating places.We walked which took us approx 30 mins but would only be 10 mins drive. Would we return?? definitely, this is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.

  • "A wonderful week, in a very comfortable and well equipped cottage."

    The place was immaculate and well organised. We particularly enjoyed Alnmouth - easy to walk in or park in beach car park if carrying equipment. A ‘post lockdown’ trip to enjoy Northumberland and esp the coast was brilliant. Although the Farne islands boat trip was on a rainy day we saw so much wildlife which also exceeded expectations. The cottage has a little courtyard at the back which was a sunny, quiet place to sit, enjoy and read after a day out. The cottage was also warm when the heating was needed and was very efficient. The owners were attentive and informative. Lovely to see the little village shop still in business. Thank you once again Sue.

  • "Arrived in the afternoon to find a great welcome pack from Sue."

    Access was easy and straight into a modern cottage. Everything you need and more is made available to you so no need to rush out to shops. although they are on your doorstep a few miles away in Alnwick. We used as a base to get up to Edinburgh and Lindesfarne for a few days and was easy access to A1 and the locals area. Alnmouth was a great afternoon walk and some nice places to eat. Overall was a nice few days away and a great base to go north or south

    The location is excellent...you can walk to Alnmouth easily and there are fantastic walks in the area close by. The living room in the cottage is spacious and the kitchen has everything you need.....we were very pleased with the welcome pack left by the owner for us.There is a nice back garden with a table and chairs. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. The broadband works well and the tv reception is good. There is parking outside the cottage and there is a pub nearby. It is very quiet at night. All in all, a very good place to stay to enjoy all that Northumberland has to offer.

    The cottage is well located in a little village next door but one to the pub. There is also a very pleasant half hour safe walk down into Alnmouth with a massive selection of tea shops, pubs, cafes and hotels and beautiful sand dunes and views.

Rose Cottage is a charming, traditional 19th Century stone-built cottage, set right in the heart of the picturesque village of Lesbury, near Alnmouth.

Ideally located for discovering the Heritage Coastline, Rose Cottage is just the perfect place for a gorgeous restful base to explore the stunning County of Northumberland.

There are some wonderful walks right from your front gate, either picking up the banks of the River Aln, where you can meander along to the fabulous Aln Estuary and Alnmouth beach.

Alternatively, you can walk in the opposite direction, picking up the picking up the disused railway line, taking in the magnificent local landscape and the beautiful ‘18 arches’ viaduct, as you head towards Alnwick.

The local wildlife is amazing, you can regularly see an abundance of birds depending on the seasons.

Beautifully furnished to a high standard throughout, Rose cottage has two delightful bedrooms, one double and one single.

The bright, airy yet restful ground floor sitting room of Rose Cottage has a lovely dining area, perfect to sit down to dinner or cosy up near the instant fire!

There is a lovely modern, well equipped kitchen, thoughtfully planned to accommodate your needs.

To the rear of Rose Cottage is a small quaint courtyard/garden, with a small herb garden providing rosemary for your lamb chops, or mint for your Pimms!

A perfect spot where you can soak of the Northumberland sunshine, with a cuppa, or perhaps a glass of wine, and enjoy the birds singing in the trees.

The pretty village of Lesbury has a popular pub and Post Office and is within walking distance of Alnmouth's station, very convenient for non-drivers, with Newcastle approx 30 minutes and Edinburgh just over an hour away.

Two miles East of your Lesbury cottage is the stunning coastline, with Alnmouth village and the castles of Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Warkworth all just a short drive away, with some fantastic coastal walks.

Alnwick Castle and gardens are just a ten-minute drive away.

Two excellent golf courses are nearby and Almouth has an array of excellent pubs, shops and tea rooms serving good quality food and beverages.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore.
