  • "My first impression of the driveway was very untidy weeds on the driveway and in the garden ."

Also the drain outside the front door was filling up and spilling out.It smelt of sewerage and also in the sink in the kitchen. But overall it didn't spoil the holiday .The bed was comfortable

Thanks for your feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your holiday. We have been away for a couple of weeks and with the recent heavy rain the weeds have shot up following no growth due to the dry spell. We were there at the weekend and they have all now been pulled and treated. Similarly the blocked drain has been sorted out and thanks for pointing it out. Property Owner

  • "First appearances are important and unfortunately the property from the outside was a disappointment ."

The front driveway and back yard were poorly maintained . Inside was adequate and I understand it is an economical choice but it felt lacking in character and care. The bar stools are too low for the breakfast bar, and everything felt a bit awkward. It is quite dark and gloomy and lights needed to be on. Beds were comfy though and bathroom fine although taps in both sinks are difficult to work and actually could burn you they run so hot. Temp stat on them is fancy but doesn’t work that well. Children and older people could get burned. TV and WiFi and kitchen appliances worked ok. Good vacuum cleaner appreciated. Could have done with a veg peeler to add to utensils. Easy walk to coast and quiet at night. It was a cheap and cheerful stay but a few more generous touches and better care of the place would cost very little but make a big difference to the holiday experience for the customer .

Thanks for your review. We are pleased you liked the vacuum cleaner, the inside, the beds, the bathroom, the TV and Wifi, the kitchen appliances, location and price. We don’t agree with your comment that it is arguable whether the hot water could burn you. Plumber has confirmed it is working OK. We will add a vegetable peeler to the utensils. The property is not particularly dark or gloomy in our opinion. Since the refurb the downstairs it is essentially one single open-plan room with windows on three of the four walls. We have used the bar stools and managed to eat OK. The outside did need a weeding at the time of your visit and this has been sorted. Apologies. In terms of the lack of character - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The very recent comprehensive refurbishment is a modern open plan design designed to maximise space. It is a small compact property but large enough for 2 adults with 1-2 smaller children. It is too small for 4 adults to enjoy it spaciously and we are going to change the listing accordingly. If you are looking for a large period property you may need to move up the price ladder next time in Beadnell. Thanks again Property Owner

  • "Really comfortable stay."

Outside was very secure for the dogs however the paving would benefit from a little attention. Landing light needs securing. Overall a really lovely property and would recommend to family and friends.

Thanks for the kind feedback. Will get into the paving and light fitting ASAP! Property Owner

  • "First impressions were foot high weeds growing on the drive, then the front door looked like it had work done on it over the years rather than replacing it."

The main (only room) was dark even though there were windows at one end and a patio door at the other which had a broken handle and could not open. After we reported it as it was indicated as a fire exit we were told buy text that the person who fixed things were on holiday and anyway there was the front door the use. In the main room was an L shaped settee which was not entirely comfortable and would not seat 4. There were 4 bar stools to sit at the island/table/storage cupboard but the 4th chair was under the stairs which led to upstairs, so if there were 4 staying they could not eat together properly. Upstairs on the landing there were exposed light cable (also reported, we were told they would come the Monday to fix, but again no one came) Doors to the bathroom and bunk room open onto the narrow landing. The bathroom was small and the shower extremely small. I'm 5'6" but when I dropped the shower gel bottle I could not bend over to pick it up without opening the doors. The shower unit is eclectic and is mounted well below the shower head and is constantly covered with water, not sure if this is safe. The bunk room is just that 2 narrow bunk beds no storage or wardrobes. The main bedroom is however better with some space and plenty of storage. We got this at a good discount as it said it had recently been refurbished, but looking at later in the year I would say that what they are asking to stay here is definitely not worth it

  • "This small property is situated in Beadnel, which is a lovely place to be."

The kitchen is really well supplied and everything is catered for. Our only negative feedback would be that it was lovely and sunny when we were there and there were no deckchairs or table/chairs in the back yard and so we had to prop on the wall. There is a Nespresso machine, but no pods were left and they don't sell them in Beadnel, so we had to go and search for them in nearby towns on arrival. It would have been great if they had left a few for arrival, as there was no other means to make coffee like a cafetière. Thanks for the milk and biscuits though!

Many thanks for your comments. We now have the table and chairs which will be in place this week - alongside some more coffee pods. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "The accommodation was adequate would have preferred extra toilet roll and tea towels."

It would have been nice to have soap or handwash. The outside space needs attention. Outside furniture none no gate uneven slabs and weeds. Also the door to the outside was locked and there was no key

Thanks for your comments. The gate and the garden furniture are now are now in place ready for Spring/Summer. The slabs are as per the photos and the soap and handwash were there - so not sure why you were not able to use them? The amount of toilet roll was sufficient but heavy users can easily get more at the village shop if necessary. Thanks again. Property Owner

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
