  • "The cottage is delightful."

It's fully equiped and spotlessly clean. The garden is beautiful, with a lovely wooded backdrop. The highlight of the garden is the wonderful wildlife, the siskins emptied the bird feeders in record time and the pheasants strutted about the lawn all day. But the best of all are the absolutely gorgeous Red Squirrels which feed from the feeder just outside the window. We could have sat and watched them all day. The lovely owner (Nicola) lives only 3 doors away and she is very friendly and helpful. We will want to return to the area at some stage in the future and Red Squirrel Cottage will definitely be our first choice of venue.

  • "A beautiful very well maintained holiday property and very welcoming too, thanks to the owner Nicola who had thought of everything to make our holiday a wonderful stay."

Very well equipped with everything you need. The property is located in beautiful surroundings, peaceful and lots of wildlife to see including red squirrels which were plentiful and a joy to watch. Plenty of room in the very well maintained and interesting garden to relax and enjoy the wildlife. We shall certainly return! Excellent location for visiting the local attractions, too.

  • "Red Squirrel Cottage is peaceful and cosy, well resourced and maintained throughout."

It is located in a delightful near-hidden fold at the edge of the Cheviot, a terrific place to retreat after a good day's hike in the hills or stroll along many miles of unspoilt Northumbrian coast. I would have little reservation in booking Red Squirrel Cottage in any month of the year.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at squirrel cottage, it's perfectly proportioned and has everything you could need."

It was beautifully clean and the garden was lovely for exploring. The location is remote and peaceful in a little cluster of houses. The wilderness around is dramatic with lots to explore especially if you like biking and hiking! It's positioned within easy day trips of the lovely coastal beaches and castles, Cragside national trust property is only 20 minutes by car and you can reach Hadrian's wall and Vindolanda in about an hour. The absolute highlight of our trip though are the beautiful red squirrels that visit the garden and are quite happy posing for a photo! We will definitely be back for another visit as so much to see still. Nicola was a wonderful host, very helpful and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful half-term Autumn adventure.

  • "Red Squirrel Cottage is the perfect name as we were only about 2 foot away from lots of Red Squirrel's!"

The wildlife in the garden is amazing and the large tiered garden is brilliant too! We were blessed with the weather and sat in the garden each morning for breakfast. Nicola came along to welcome us & we saw her a few times whilst we were there. The cottage is lovely and has everything you could wish for and a lovely welcome pack is waiting for you when you arrive. You are right out in the peaceful countryside and there is lots of nice walks & places to visit. It is one of those holidays that you don't want to end. We will definitely be visiting again.

  • "The cottage and garden were both wonderful."

We were almost reluctant to go out, as it was so quiet and relaxing. We sat for hours in the lovely conservatory, watching all the birds and the red squirrels. There were so many lovely villages and towns in the surrounding area, that although it was quiet and peaceful, we didn't feel isolated.

  • "The cottage was wonderful!"

Very clean and very comfortable. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised at the extras the owner had left for us and were greeted by red squirrels and pheasants in the garden. All in all we had a great time and large proportion of that was down to the location and quality of the cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage and an amazing garden!"

! We loved sitting outside and in the conservatory watching all the wildlife, lots of garden birds, pheasants and especially the red squirrels!! Cottage had everything we needed and was a great place to stay for our holiday. Very quiet area, lovely for sitting out in the garden and doing local walks. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • "A lovely house in a small hamlet."

The red squirrels were always visiting the garden feeders and the owner supplied plenty of hazelnuts to keep them coming. Very thoughtful (and friendly) owner had clearly put a lot of effort into making the house COVID Secure. Plenty of sanitiser around and the house was spotless. The air sourced heat pump kept it warm throughout our stay with no need for the fire. Huge garden visited by a variety of birds in addition to the squirrels.
