  • "A lovely cottage, the bedrooms are beautifully presented, it’s spacious and well equipped."

Kitchen has everything provided except a dishcloth, could have been an oversight. It is however cold, take plenty of warm clothing. There are a couple of throws provided in the sitting room. We were looking forward to lighting the log fire, but unfortunately there was so much smoke we couldn’t use it again.

  • "Another lovely stay at this cottage."

It is cosy and set in some lovely grounds, providing access to lots of walks, so the car stayed put for most of the week. The whole house is roomy and very comfortable. We were made to feel welcome and have no wish to stay anywhere else for the next trip to relax and unwind. Thank you to all involved.

It couldn’t have been better. Would love to come back soon. We were concerned about the shower spraying water over the window and shutters, but apart from that, there was nothing to fault. Thank you for making it a perfect holiday.

  • "We had a wonderful week here."

The cottage are grade 2 listed converted stables so don’t expect a square box with double glazing. Yes it was a tad cold till heating kicked in, yes there are bits that have seen better days but undertaking any work in a listed building is not a quick or simple job. So if you want all mod cons and square edges this may not be for you. If you love rustic charm, character and the most fabulous setting anywhere then don’t hesitate y to book. The owners and Susan the housekeeper were lovely and sorted a couple issues out for us with no fuss or quibble. The woodlands around are great and if you have dogs they will love it. There is also a little resident flock of Guinea Fowl which we have never come across before and they are such charming birds and very quirky. Bellingham is a great village with really really good food and the residents are genuinely nice and friendly. Nothing to not like. ❤️

  • "Booked for a week, only stayed five nights."

This property is not for the faint-hearted, it is an old converted coach house and is COLD. There is an open fire and enough logs provided for a couple of hours heat, after that you are expected to pay for any subsequent wood you use, even though there is a massive pile directly opposite the property. Listed as sleeps six, very cramped if six guests visit, the kitchen is small and the bathroom is tiny and dated. The stairs are precarious and not at all suitable for young children. On a positive note, lovely quiet surroundings and a very comfy bed.

We were family of 5 and it worked perfectly. The only downside was having one loo between the 5 of us but we would definitely stay again.

  • "We had a lovely stay and found the owners very accommodating, providing two cots for us rather than one."

They had them ready for us in the cottage on arrival, along with a high chair and stair gate. Plenty of towels provided and felt like everything possible was catered for, we only need to bring ourselves and toothbrushes! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we’re thrilled with the location (peacefully rural but close enough to Bellingham if we needed supplies). Hoping that we will visit again in the near future.

Beautiful surroundings as the trees turned gold in November. Wonderful woodland walks. Highly recommended, particularly if taking a dog. One note of caution, dogs are not allowed upstairs in the cottage.

  • "Beautiful location, quiet cottage, but please note on a working estate, so workers do start early on weekdays."

Having only one bathroom for 6 people meant it was a juggling act for toilet and showers, especially if you had been out all day walking or on the beach. The cooker was a bit slow, so preparing meals may take longer than expected, and the bbq needs to be replaced. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time here, shame we didn’t get to meet the hosts due to change in practices for COVID. Would stay on the estate again, but maybe in a different cottage

Spotlessly clean and every need met on arrival; and for your ongoing stay. Other personal touches, such as candles, wood for the fire and fresh flowers make you feel immediately cared for. The bed in the main bedroom is huge and extremely comfortable, with quality duvet, pillows and linen. This was reflected in the other bedrooms (although we didn't need to use the bed in the third bedroom)We visited with our children, 9 & 11 who absolutely loved this place. A good base for walks and visiting all Nothumberland has to offer. We stayed for one week and were very sad to leave. We have no hesitation in recommending this amazing cottage.

Not working for bulk of 5 day stay. An issue because we had teenagers with + phones had no signal (normally good, but not at xmas) Staircase very steep - Not suited to over 80's. Overall house great + gardens + Bellingham Pet friendly, space for dog crate at bottom of stairs. Lounge with real fire a lovely place to be !!!

  • "We had a wonderful family weekend in this cottage."

The beds are very comfortable with lovely linen. The kitchen is small, but has all you would need. The oven isn’t as fast as a modern oven, but cooked baked potatoes and casseroles well. The bathroom is small, but has a good shower. The cottage has a log fire which was lovely after a long walk, and we were lucky enough to have a clear sky and see the stars. We would hopefully return one day.

  • "The cooker needs replaced."

It’s a gas cooker and the igniter doesn’t work so they have provided a gas lighter to use. This is fine for the rings but you have to get on your hands and knees to light the oven. Lighting the oven isn’t worth the effort as it fails to get hot enough to cook anything! We had small sausages in there for over an hour before we gave up and zapped them in the microwave!

  • "Sykes cottages were great service."

The cottage we felt to be overpriced for what it was. For a family of 5 with 3 teenage children the bathroom and toilet facilities were vastly inadequate. In the details it offers it as a cottage for 6! The bathroom is tiny, no separate toilet and the fixtures and fittings old and inadequate. Nowhere to hang towels or put toothbrushes. The towels were very small. The cooker is very small for cooking for 6 and very dated. Outside it would’ve been nice to have had cushions for the chairs as they were often wet or damp. A parasol on the outdoor table would’ve been nice too. On the plus side, we were very grateful to have had our shopping taken delivery of and unpacked. Bike storage was excellent. The house keeper was wonderful, very friendly. She kindly offered us a mid week clean and thankfully brought fluffy larger towels and bathrobes for us. This would’ve been nice from the outset, considering they were available. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen luxurious. It was a great cottage for exploring the local area. The owners have given access to numerous walking trails which was very good. The children could safely explore on foot or bikes without having to negotiate busy roads. It felt very private and very beautiful surroundings.

A warm welcome surprise touch in the fresh flowers, milk and cake. This was our 3rd visit in 8/9 months and hope to be back in the Autumn. It is nice to know the cottage is warm, well equiped and offers a great time no matter what the weather- plenty of books, games puzzles etc as well as outdoor seating etc. A perfect private space to relax, and is ideal for dogs. No phone signal [ major plus point for us] but you can get incoming land line calls . Easy to contact the owners if there is a need to.
