The property

Driftwood is a superbly located beach home just a stone’s throw from the wide sweeping sands of Embleton Bay, with views towards Dunstanburgh Castle, set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property is actually located in Dunstan Steads, a peaceful spot just a mile from Embleton and even closer to both the beach and the castle.

Its enviable location along this striking stretch of heritage coastline makes it an excellent choice for families or friends seeking a mix of beach days, sightseeing, and outdoor pursuits.

Inside, the kitchen is well equipped for everything from light seaside lunches to hearty evening meals.

A handy utility room just off the kitchen includes a washing machine and tumble dryer, perfect for keeping on top of sandy clothes after a day at the beach.

Directly accessible from outside is a useful boot room with plenty of space for shoes, boots and coats.

Adjacent to the kitchen, at the heart of the home, is a spacious living/dining room, where guests can gather for meals or unwind in front of the woodburning stove - perfect after a bracing coastal walk.

To the rear, the fully enclosed and large lawned garden offers a safe space for children and pets to play, while the picnic benches (front and back) provide a choice of lovely sunny spots for alfresco breakfasts or evening drinks in the sea air.

Whether you're planning a full family holiday or a laid-back weekend with friends, Driftwood offers a welcoming base for exploring this stunning stretch of coastline.

When it’s time to turn in, choose from three inviting bedrooms: a king-size (with breathtaking views of Dunstanburgh Castle), a large twin, and a bunk room (also looking out to the Castle), all tastefully decorated in calm coastal colours to provide a restful night’s sleep.

The property also benefits from two sleek bathrooms: the main one on the first floor next to the bedrooms, with a bath and large walk-in shower, and another with a walk-in shower on the ground floor for added convenience.

Both have Villeroy and Boch sanitary ware and heated radiators/towel rails.

The property also benefits from an enclosed driveway with parking for three cars and offers a warm welcome to 2 well-behaved dogs.

There’s plenty to explore nearby.

Visit the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle, visible from the cottage and only a short walk away, the majestic Bamburgh Castle, with its striking medieval architecture and sweeping views over the beach, or head to historic Alnwick Castle, famed for its role in the Harry Potter films, and the beautifully landscaped Alnwick Garden, home to the impressive Grand Cascade.

In the traditional fishing village of Craster, famous for its smoked kippers, enjoy a stroll around the harbour or set off on a wildlife-spotting adventure with Billy Shiel’s Boat Trips to the Farne Islands.

Slightly further afield, make sure to visit the majestic castle and historic priory on Holy Island, a tidal island off the coast of Northumberland.

For a deeper dive into local history, the RNLI Grace Darling Museum offers a fascinating insight into the life and legacy of one of Northumberland’s most celebrated heroines.

Whether your Northumberland escape involves historic landmarks, coastal walks, or simply soaking up the sea breeze, Driftwood provides a comfortable and well-located base to return to.
