  • "The Barn at Corbridge was probably the most well-equipped, comfortable and tastefully decorated self catering accommodation we have stayed in to date."

    The welcome pack of fresh croissants, jam, butter, milk and a bottle of wine were very much appreciated. The view from the garden across the Tyne Valley was lovely - even more so because we were lucky enough to have dry weather the whole of our stay! Ideally situated for visiting all the attractions in the area including Corbridge itself, Hadrian's Wall, Hexham & Brockbushes Farm Shop.

  • "Our stay at The Barn was just perfect from start to finish, great location near Corbridge and well positioned to explore the great outdoors by car and train."

    parking and entry into The Barn went smoothly and it was obvious that the accommodation was clean, well equipped and beautifully furnished, such an interesting property. The owners had kindly left us some milk, butter, crossiants and wine as a welcome. Great views from the outside space across the Tyne valley. Highly recommended.

  • "Really wonderful property."

    We would come back in a heartbeat if we wanted to come back to continue to explore this area. There is everything you’d need at the barn and more and the reason we chose this over the adjoining property was the bath. It was super lovely for those cold nights after days out.

  • "Absolutely first class, we arrived on a miserable February afternoon, the heating was on as was the low lighting, it was incredibly welcoming, with welcome treats exceptionally thoughtful, the space is beautiful with very tasteful decor, all round excellent."

    We are seasoned in self catering cottages, none compare to the Barn. Fantastic.

    Very well equipped kitchen. Good storage for clothes in bedroom and a very comfortable bed. Views from the bifold doors were amazing. Certainly deserves the five star rating.

  • "The Barn was beautifully decorated and very comfortable and warm."

    It was spotlessly clean throughout. The view from the Barn looked over the Tyne Valley and it was very quiet. There is another holiday accommodation there but you wouldn't know, it was very private. The welcome pack was excellent - milk, wine, butter and croissants. There are loads of walks nearby and Newcastle was only a half hour train ride away. Hadrians Wall is just a short drive and well worth visiting. We met the owner and he was very nice and helpful should we have needed anything. We will definitely be going back.

  • "The accommodation was perfect for a couple."

    There was plenty of wardrobe space and the bathroom ensuite included a shower and a bath - which was great for us as we enjoyed both. We enjoyed visiting a few National Trust properties and again this property was in a good location.

  • "The most comfortable, well furnished & decorated property we have stayed at after many holidays in the area."

    Even the outside space has been curated with care & attention. We would happily stay here again. The location is perfect, rural yet so close to town amenities. We didn't realise there was another rental next door but everything has been setup with perfect privacy. The only slight frustration was the lack of cutlery & a small kitchen knife would have been useful. The weather was exceptionally warm, a fan is provided but it is worth noting that if you like to sleep with ventilation you have to have the bifold doors open, didn't worry us in hot weather but may be an issue in cooler weather.

    It is beautifully decorated and has views extending across the countryside. It has an excellent shower and bathroom facilities, and everything we needed had been provided. We felt at home and would be happy to return there.

  • "First class, high standard property, great value for money."

    We literally did not want to leave. Fabulous space that feels comfy, with top shelf decor and million dollar views. A fabulous en suite, wonderful bed and linens, everything you need in the kitchen and more, with convenient, free parking. Very dog friendly, great dog walk right at your doorstep. Quiet, secluded and rural, yet strangely near so much history for a wonderful holiday. Lovely hosts. The welcome package was wonderful, the butter may be homemade. We always love to have milk included for a spot of tea upon arrival and this place delivered. We don't usually go back to places as there are so many to experience but we'd definitely return to the Barn in a heartbeat. Highly recommend. Loved it. 10 our of 10.

  • "We have stayed in a number of holiday homes and “the barn” Riding Mills is one of the best."

    It is off the beaten track and very peaceful with the towns of Corbridge and Hexham close by. The barn was spacious, impeccably clean and very well equipped with everything you might need for your stay. Sitting on the patio with a glass of wine at the end of the day looking over the beautiful valley was a bonus. (Note if you take a dog, the patio is not enclosed and access to the quiet country lane is open for them to wander if unsupervised) The owners, Karen and Simon were available by phone should we have needed anything. We highly recommend this beautiful property and if we visit the area again will definitely look to stay here. Dennis and Cath

Hexham 3 miles; Newcastle 16 miles.

A delightful historic village surrounded by beautiful unspoilt Northumbrian countryside, Corbridge offers much of interest, including specialist shops, old inns and a 12th century bridge spanning the river. Hadrian’s Wall and Housesteads Fort are nearby, whilst the market town of Hexham is a few miles away and is well worth a visit, with its narrow bustling streets, good selection of shops and a fascinating abbey boasting 15th century paintings and a fine Saxon crypt. The Border Country, Northumbrian coast, Kielder Forest with cycling and watersports, Beamish Open Air Museum and Durham Cathedral are all within easy motoring distance, while the Gateshead Metro Centre (one of the largest shopping centres in Europe) can be found 20 miles to the east.
