  • "What a lovely property, very comfortable, super garden to look out on."

Being birdwatchers it was ideal ,so peaceful Seeing the birds so close on the feeders was great. The area was stunning, hardly any traffic on the roads. Owners very helpful, we would strongly recommend this property.

  • "One of the best cottages we have stayed in - quiet, cosy, well equipped and a real home from home."

We particularly enjoyed the bird feeders in the gardens - so many different birds! The big bed is super comfortable and the log effect fire made the cottage even more cosy when coming home after a day walking in the rain (even though it was June!!). A really refreshing break which was just what we needed.

  • "We intend coming back next year."

Only one niggle. The crockery is very good but very little of it is marked as either dishwasher safe or Microwave safe. We erred on the side of caution and did lots of hand washing of crockery.

  • "We had week's break at the end of March and the cottage was all that we could wish for."

It was very comfortable and cosy (the underfloor heating did a very good job of keeping us warm!). The facilities were excellent and every aspect had been very well thought out and top quality. The location is wonderful for walks - we did three from the door. We didn't venture too far but Hexham,Corbridge and Hadrian's Wall were very close by. Bellingham and Elsdon were interesting and worth a visit..We wouldn't hesitate to recommend 10/10

  • "This was the best cottage we have stayed in."

It’s in a beautiful quiet area and we liked the privacy. It is tastefully decorated and furnished with a very comfortable superking bed (very important to us) with lovely pillows and bed linen. Immaculately clean and well equipped The separate storage area was useful too. Very nice extra touches were the delicious homemade bread, eggs and flowers. Also the bird feeders positioned so we could enjoy seeing the birds feeding. We had a thoroughly nice stay

  • "We had the most wonderful 7 night stay at the Garden Room watching the wildlife out of the windows and enjoying the facilities of the cottage."

It was equipped with everything you could need and was always toasty warm with plenty of hot water despite 2 named storms coming our way! Annabelle and Hugo were excellent hosts who left lovely little extras on our arrival such as home made bread and fresh eggs from their chickens. Hugo even popped round with some torches the night of the storm in case the power failed - which it didn’t. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and already miss counting the different species of birds from the window whilst eating our breakfast. Thanks again Hugo and Annabelle for a truly relaxing and magical stay.

Very quiet area but only a short walk to the local pub and shop, tourist attractions were easily accessible by car.

Although it is a short drive to local facilities, this is more than compensated for by the peace and tranquility of the cottage.

The outdoor space is small but perfectly formed and an ideal place for cocktails and snacks or coffee: the photos don't do it justice. The cottage is very well appointed.

The Garden Room is a haven of peace and tranquility set in an ideal location. The hosts are very helpful without being too pushy. The facilities in the property are first class and meet every requirement for a relaxing, peaceful and comfortable holiday. The fresh flowers, home baked bread and eggs left by the owners as a welcoming gift added a real personal touch and were very much appreciated.

The owners are extremely welcoming and their property a delight for a relaxing and comfortable break. An excellent base for exploring further afield, but equally we enjoyed local walks to enjoy the area’s beautiful scenery and peacefulness. We hope to return very soon. • "What a wonderful location and base for a holiday."

The Garden Room at West Woodburn is as beautiful as the website suggests. We loved the decor; the furnishings were as comfortable as they looked; thought has gone into all aspects of the offering from fresh flowers to the coffee machine and infromation leaflets on local walks, pubs and other amenities. The host was incredibly patient and ensured that all our questions were answered. it was peaceful, the nights were dark and the bed comfortable - all equalled some very, very good night sleeps!

  • "We chose rural Northumberland because of its 'Dark Sky' status, light pollution spoiling the view of the night sky where we live."

The cottage's situation was ideal, as it is not even in the village of West Woodburn, being almost half-way to East Woodburn. And we had one night of clear skies, so spent a magical half an hour or more sitting outside in the dark that evening looking at the stars, satellites and meteorites..

  • "We enjoyed the place very much."

Why we marked the facilities slightly down was due to the fact there was no wardrobe, and we had to have some clothes on hangers on some hooks. We brought this to the very helpful owners attention and were going to rectify the matter.

  • "A very cosy comfortable cottage."

Very nicely appointed and practically brand new. Information from the owners was very comprehensive and useful. Local area is very nice with Hadrians wall and Kielder water and forest easily accessible. The area is a dark skies area and that makes star watching great and Kielder has its own observatory open to visitors. A great place to spend time. Easy access to the Scottish borders as well. The facilities in the cottage are very well done and there is a very comfortable bed. The cottage is not big but that makes it very cosy. All in a very good cottage.
