  • "Everything at the cottage was excellent."

Very well equipped and comfortable. Peaceful surroundings and excellent walks and views straight from the property However, the showers at the swimming pool were hit and miss for hot water provision.

  • "Lowcroft is an exceptional cottage, has everything you would need for a weeks stay."

The cottage is very homely, and the welcome hamper is a lovely touch. The swimming pool was a family favourite, something to look forward to each day. It was our first time at North Farm, but it won't be our last.

  • "3rd stay here and also with family in Grey Croft."

2 power cuts with longest being more than 15 hours. No contact from the owners regarding our safety or asking if we required candles blankets etc (they live on site) as it was extremely cold. The children didn't not like it. The torch battery that was there did not work and we had no power in our phones left. Freezer food was discarded next day and additional had to be bought following day. As a family of 8 we dont eat out so freezer was well stocked. Disappointed at lack of care and interest from owners

I know that you booked two cottages and left a review on each I also feel the need to reply to both reviews as you will applicate both replies will be very similar. I’m sorry you experienced a electric cut during your stay, the whole area was off and have no control over these things. I’m also sorry you felt the need to discard the food you had in your freezer, I checked with the Food Standards Agency site and their current advice is that food in a freezer with no electric remains safe for up to 48 hours (24 hours if only half full) if the door remains closed. As I’m sure you appreciate, everyone also had to contend with the electric cut including ourselves. A number is provided to ring if you need help (for example to request an extra blanket or new batteries for your torch, there are numerous spares for most things on site and would have replaced these for you) or in an emergency if you need urgent help. Our aim is to provide a pleasant relaxing stay for our guests I do hope the other six days of your holiday made up for the evening/night without electric and you got to enjoy the rest of our facilities. North Farm Cottages look forward to playing host to you again. Property Owner

  • "Great place, well appointed cottage."

Facilities were fantastic - we loved the pool and the play area for the kids. This was our second time which tells you all you need to know! Only downside is we don’t understand why properties are still asking people to strip beds after the pandemic. A hotel would never ask for this and with 2 young children it isn’t ideal with a 930 check out. Other than that, fabulous stay!

The cupboard of dog treats was such a nice extra too! Great location and lovely pool. Will definitely book again, thank you.

Was larger than it looked on the photographs. Great to have the generous welcome pack. Beautiful beach about 25 mins walk through the fields. Lots of local attractions an easy drive away.

Walks from the door to Low Newton and Dunstanburgh. Swimming pool a real luxury.

  • "Loved Low Croft for us warmth and being well equipped, and for its location."

Great to have a footpath leading directly to the beach. And the swimming pool is superb and it is such a good idea and works really well to be able to book slots just for yourself and others with you in the cottage so that the pool us nit busy or crowded. Loved the whole experience of staying in Low Croft, as did all our party, including falling asleep to the sound of the sea breaking on the beach.

  • "The description of the property is inaccurate and misleading."

It states that there is a L shaped sofa and there isn't one. In the pictures there is a L shaped leather sofa and padded kitchen chairs. The kitchen chairs are in fact hard wooden ones. It is really important to us that we have padded kitchen chairs and a lounge on sofa as we have bad backs. Had the description been accurate I would NOT have booked this property. The television in the living room is too small for the size of the room. The mattress on the double bed is horribly thin and uncomfortable and needs replacing. The path to the beach is grass and is in places very muddy. Too far for most toddlers to walk and unsuitable and too narrow in places for even the robust three wheeler all terrain buggies. The beach is brilliant for dogs and the pub by the beach is dog friendly and is well worth visiting. Welcoming friendly staff and great coffee. We were disappointed by the lack of recycling facilities at the property. We were booked until the Friday, we left on the Wednesday as we were not enjoying our uncomfortable stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you had to leave early. We do have a recycling area on site for plastics and cardboard. We have changed the sofas and the dining room table and are waiting for new pictures to be taken which we will chase up. We are sorry for any impact on your stay but furniture does get replaced if needed. The mattress will be replaced following your feedback. We cant control the condition of the path to the beach as this is not owned by ourselves. We would like to welcome you back to any of our properties at a discounted rate. • "We enjoyed our holiday, the location of the property was excellent, enabling us to visit all we wanted to."

We felt that the property was overpriced for what it was, maybe this was due to supply and demand given the Covid pandemic! £1185 for a week (well 6 days given that you cannot check in until after 5pm and need to leave 1t 9:30). The lounge wouldn't comfortably accommodate 6 adults but as we were only 2 it was ok for us, just want to let people know if they were a party of 6 the lounge and seating wouldn't suffice. TV very small. Walk to the beach was over 10 mins and wouldn't be easy pushing a buggy. We felt the way the footpaths were kept neatly cut was great and gave a safe route to Embleton. It was lovely having allocated hourly time slots for the pool but unfortunately, one family that was in before us didn't come out on time which meant we lost 10 mins of our time. Such a shame people can't stick to the rules.

  • "Would be worth listing how far/how long to the beach."

For adults it's an easy walk but for toddlers it's a good walk and not ideal for pushchairs.

About the location

EMBLETON

Craster 3 miles; Beadnell 4 miles; Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.
