"On arrival the cottage was spotless and a lovely hamper left on the table in the kitchen was much appreciated."
We found the light switch in the bathroom a little difficult as it swung around and kept getting caught in the door. Not helpful as you get older.
Also the plug in the bath was difficult to remove after after having a bath.
It would be helpful to have reading lamps both sides of the bed as we had to leave the big light on to read.

"We enjoyed our week-long stay at the cottage."
It was very clean and beautifully furnished, with a lovely welcome package that included milk and other essentials. The location was also convenient, close to shops and restaurants.
However, we did encounter some issues. The heating was kept very low; we would have appreciated maintaining at least 19°C throughout the space. Only one radiator at the entrance was set at 20°C, while the others were much lower (7°C and 16°C), making it quite uncomfortable, especially upstairs where it was quite cold. We used all the wood in the first night and had to buy additional wood for the rest of our stay to keep the place warm. Additionally, the hot water was operated on a timer, so after washing dishes post-lunch and taking showers, there was no hot water available for the rest of the evening. We found this kind of energy-saving measure to be a bit unprofessional, especially considering the cost of the stay.
Despite these drawbacks, we would consider staying again, but we are a bit concerned that during colder weather, the temperature might be insufficient for comfort.
Thank you for your feedback which is bizarre. This was the warmest week of the year and we try to ensure guests are comfortable without being too hot or cold. The bedrooms in the cottage face south and combined with the velux window in the landing ensures upstairs is very warm-as you may recall it was very sunny that week. That is why the heating was switched off during the day. As soon as you indicated you were cold the heating was increased in the bedrooms to 20 degrees in the evening and continued at 16 degrees overnight. Similarly for the hot water, we also use the cottage as owners and are familiar with the capacity of the tank which is wholly adequate.
The logs supplied are a starter pack as stated and we are pleased you availed yourself of this. As per the cottage information booklet, further supplies can be purchased in the village.
We visited several times to check that you were comfortable but you were out or still in bed.
During colder weeks the heating is turned up but it was lovely to experience the heat wave when you were visiting and despite this the heating was still turned up as requested and you have not acknowledged this in your review.
We trust you had a safe journey home.

"Lovely cottage, with everything we needed, all very clean."
Easy 15 to 20 minute walk to the harbour.
Beautiful area, definitely planning to visit again.
Upstairs basin didn’t drain properly, I can see this had been noted previously. Also some days were rather cold, so it would have been nice to be able to adjust the heating (I think we had to request this).

"Lovely cottage that’s tucked away in a quiet courtyard."
Equipped with everything you need, including gorgeous towels. Ten minute stroll takes you into Seahouses. Certainly worth a stay and we were happy with the description and facilities.
Only suggestion I could make is a second bedside lamp in the double room would be nice.
We are so pleased you had a good time staying at Charlotte’s. It is a very private and peaceful location and we appreciate your feedback. We will look into how we could wire another socket into the double room for an extra lamp. We hope you may revisit in the future. Best wishes.

"Very well appointed cottage, with lots of lovely touches."
Attention to detail is superb. A Nespresso machine and air fryer are in one of the cupboards but couldn’t find the listed dishwasher! Dog blankets and towels, bowls etc for our four-legged family member. Beautifully finished and very clean. Was a little chilly downstairs first night despite using the log burner so the owner changed the temperature on the heaters for us the next day. The only negatives are a lack of curtain/blind at the front door, which with no frosted glass, left the door feeling a little exposed! The bathroom sink was very slow to drain and intact actually fills when running the tap (without a plug)! A perfectly situated little cottage with easy access to the Northumbrian coastline and the chance to explore NE England and SE Scotland.
Thank you for your review and we hope you enjoyed your time at Charlotte’s. We are pleased you found the cottage well appointed, clean and comfortable. We ensure heating is generously provided throughout the house in addition to including a large supply of sticks, logs and firefighters for the log burner. The front door along with the double glazing is new and features a barn style door in keeping with the period feature of the house. The property is south facing and we seek to maximise light and character noting that the courtyard typically has little to no activity thus ensuring privacy for everyone. The sink is an idiosyncrasy that can drain slow with the hot tap. We do not advertise a dishwasher but provide all cleaning products inclusive and there is a washing machine.
Thank you again for your review.

"Lovely cottage everything we needed just a little short on wood for the log burner, but it was exceptionally cold that week!"
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and we are so pleased that you thought the cottage was lovely – that’s great to hear. We hope you had a lovely week. We do leave a generous starter pack of logs and kindling for the log burner but we will add to our information pack the places you can go to buy extra for your stay should it be needed. We hope you may visit us again.
