    "This property is in an ideal countryside position yet also close to Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland and all the surrounding areas."

    We had not realised there were quite so many rental cottages on site and found the lovely arched windows did not offer much privacy. Basically we were looking out onto the car parking area so people coming and going. One of our dogs found this a bit challenging so we had to keep the curtains closed a lot of the time. Fairly well equipped but some basics missing. No storage space at all. Overall a fairly enjoyable stay.

    we were greeted with half a dozen eggs from the resident egg layers, the home made cake was delicious, the beds super comfy. We had the impression that they wanted to do their best for us. Would we go again? In a shot.

    "A very pleasant property on an active arable farm located next door to other barn conversions."

    Property owners live in the adjacent farmhouse and are able to help with any problems. It is in a very quiet area with plenty of footpaths to enable you to explore the countryside and watch the wildlife. However it takes only 8 minutes to reach Beamish and very easy routes to go to Gateshead, Newcastle or Durham. Well worthy of another visit.

    "A fabulous place to stay."

    Very quiet and out of the way. The road leading to the property was lovely and smooth, the cottage was in a close proximity to shops, Beamish and Newcastle too. A warm welcome was given by the owner when we arrived and the cake was excellent. Definitely recommend this property.

    "Ideal location for cities, countryside and coast."

    A beautiful cottage and we enjoyed feeding the chickens. It would have been helpful to be advised to turn off A1M at junction 67 as well as the name of the junction. We could definitely not have crept about as the floorboards creaked. Would definitely re-visit if we go to the area again.

    A lovely cottage surrounded by farmland with good amenities We were greeted by the owner who made us feel at home right away If you are going to Beamish this is the place to stay it is just 3miles to drive If you have forgotten something Sainsburys is 7minute drive

    "Lovely, warm and comfortable converted barn."

    Well equipped in a great location for exploring the NE and Newcastle. Really enjoyed the lack of light pollution and noise at night! Ensured a great nights sleep! Lovely local walks around the farm to easily exercise the dog. Would recommend. Thank you :)

Bowes Barn is a fabulous two-storey barn conversion resting on a working arable farm on the outskirts of Ouston, Tyne and Wear.

With easy access to the cities of Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham, this property is the ideal base for small families or couples looking to explore the North East.

Finished to a high standard with both contemporary and traditional features, such as the exposed stone walls, the cottage is a lovely cottage offers a great place to return to after a day of sightseeing.

The downstairs is entirely open-plan consisting of a well-equipped kitchen, dining and sitting area.

Upstairs there are two well-presented bedrooms; a double and single, served by the family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC.

To the outside is a private patio where you can enjoy a refreshing drink while reflecting upon your holiday so far.

Granary And Bowes Barn Cottages

These modern stone-built barn conversions rest on an established holiday site and working family farm just outside the rural village of Kibblesworth. The two dwellings have been designed to offer groups of couples, friends and families the opportunity to relax amongst the rolling hills of Northumberland whilst still having easy access to the cities of Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland. Spend your evenings in the sitting rooms and cosy up with your loved ones reminiscing about the day’s events whilst the TV hums in the background. The kitchens have been fitted with all the necessary appliances to whip up a hearty feast, whilst the dining areas are perfect for gathering of an evening and toasting to a wonderful holiday. Choose from a range of bedrooms, each tastefully decorated with plenty of storage and wall-mounted TVs, while the tiled bathrooms and shower rooms allow you to prepare for the day. Outside there are patio areas where you can take a cup of tea in the morning and watching the sun come up over the fields. The cottages are well-placed for enjoying a number of walking and cycling routes in the area, including the cycle way for the coast to coast. Settled in the charming County Durham within the North East of England, you will find the delightful village of Ouston. Home to a local newsagents selling all the household essentials, two well-established pubs and a tasty takeaway, this village has everything you could ever need during your stay. Spend a day at the nearby popular living museum of Beamish and learn what life was like in the North East during the 1820's, all the way up to the 1940's. Venture into the city of Sunderland for a spot of shopping and a bite to eat before exploring the magnificent Winter Gardens and wandering the grounds to the 18th-century Hylton Castle. Climb up Penshaw hill to see the imposing Penshaw Monument up close, or why not head in to university city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne where you can spot the Gateshead Millennium Bridge or visit the famous Angel of the North.
