  • "This property was very clean."

It advertised central heating as a feature but did not say it was controlled by the owners! Whilst we were there it was 1 degree and the heating was on for 40 minutes in the morning and evening. We were told to use portable radiators and electric fire. The downstairs bedroom had a horrible damp smell. No one could have slept in there. There was damp in the utility room and our bedroom had signs of past leaks on the ceiling. Nowhere did it state the windows were single glazed thus adding to the cold! The lounge radiator was covered by a sofa. The bedroom by long curtains so the little heat there was went out of the window! Have to say in a lovely spot and central for lots of visiting of sites and sights.

  • "I am all for re-wilding, but I was expecting some cut lawned area in the rear garden."

It did not look like it has been cut for a while. Even a track through the long grass would have been fine. As we had a small dog with us, it would have been better if she didn't get so wet when she went out. Which was a pity, a small piece of lawn would have done.

  • "The cottage was in an ideal location to explore Northumberland however I do not agree with the rating."

It is on a busy road through the village and parking is right utside the front door. It is quiet through the night but starts to get busy from 6am and as bedrooms on the front can be disturbing I think this should be made clear. The cottage and garden do need some TLC. The towels were not good one we would not use and a little more attention to cleaning in general. Beds and bedding were ok and very comfortable.

  • "Very comfortable and cosy stay in a well appointed cottage."

We had a small problem but this was resolved promptly. We would have liked more information about recycling as there did not appear to be anywhere to recycle glass. We ended up taking it home with us.

  • "Lovely property, beds so comfortable."

Despite being so close to the road it was quiet, with very little traffic noise at night. Some lovely riverside walks from the cottage.

  • "A lovely rustic cottage which is very cosy and comfortable."

We were moved to this cottage after a problem with a cottage we had booked. Tahir and Deborah got the cottage ready for us at short notice which was so good of them. Then left wine and chocolates for us to enjoy can not thank them enough. Lovely bath and shower and very comfortable beds, there is everything you need for a perfect holiday. There is a lovely summer house and big garden too.

  • "The only downside to the property was that the garden wasn't enclosed and this meant our dog was unable to be let out without being on the lead as the property is close to a fairly busy road."

Apart from this everything was great and it is a lovely property to stay in.

Lovely little cottage and good base to travel- good hint, don’t worry about shopping as local Spar is brilliant good butcher and has everything you want and only 5 mins away- no mobile signal etc so much sure you read instructions before you leave as had to go to pub to find it

  • "Good size accommodation centrally situated for enjoying the coast, castles, towns and villages of Northumberland."

Local facilities in Thropton include garage with Spar shop, and decent village pub. The accommodation itself was comfortable, could have benefited from better cleaning in the kitchen and utility room (oven and washing machine in particular). The central heating was not working, but provision of electric radiators helped on ground floor. Weak but useable shower. Nice garden, but not secure (for visiting dogs).

In response to your feedback, we have checked the central heating system, and everything is working as it should. We are sorry that you experienced a problem; the thermostat, when the dial is turned, required a light pressure in order for it to activate. We can only assume that this is why the radiators did not respond. We have now installed a new thermostat to ensure this does not happen again. Ensuring that our guests are warm and comfortable is our utmost priority. We have also now installed a second shower. Very best wishes Property Owner

  • "A warm welcome awaits you at Ravens Heugh."

A spacious and well equipped cottage. Good social space, large kitchen and separate utility and the biggest fridge/ freezer you would ever need!! Lovely garden and summerhouse which would have been well used had our visit not been in late October! Great location, ideally situated to explore the coast, countryside, castles and Cragside! Highly recommended.

  • "Lovely property."

Well situated to explore North Northumberland. Comfortable beds and good facilities - dishwasher, and laundry equipment if needed. Big garden with seating and summer house. Would benefit from provision of more kitchen/ cooking items, eg oven to table dishes.

  • "Our first away from home since before covid, and lived up to all our expectations."

Lovely, thoughtful touches left by Deborah and Tahir which were much appreciated. Extremely comfortable beds, crucial to us both (we have sleep difficulties). Everything we could wish for inside the house and outside in the summer house and garden. The village is very pretty, with extremely friendly and helpful residents. We live in a beautiful but very hilly part of Cumbria, however the many walks from Thropton were just as beautiful, but not so hilly! We will return!
