Furnishings and decor are of a high standard and it is a joy to come back to such a cottage after a day out. We especially looked forward to sitting outside in the seating area to enjoy the view over the lake with the housemartins & swallows swooping over it. One of the best cottages that we have stayed in.

Lots of space for all the family, including our 2 dogs. The garden was well enclosed so we could let the dogs out without worrying. The kitchen wsd well stocked and had everything we needed. We loved each bedroom had its own bathroom, so not waiting around for people to finish. The location was a lovely short walk into the village.

Thank you Joanne for your great feedback, we're delighted that you all had such a great break as well as the dogs having the freedom to run around. We totally agree with not having to que for the bathroom..... Property Owner

    1. the beds in the twin room and the double with the ensuite bath were far too hard meaning that those sleeping in these rooms got little or no sleep during our stay. The bathroom to the double bedroom had a nail protruding from the bathroom floor, which was covered by the bath mat, meaning that my daughter stood on the nail when getting out of the bath, I do have a photo of this however this form doesn't allow me to upload the image.

  • "Overall, a very nice, clean spacious property with comfortable furniture and excellent views."

A good base to explore the area, and a quiet and relaxing safe retreat after a day out. There was good outdoor furniture provided front and back to enjoy the position of the sun and enjoy the local picturesque views. Our Grandchildren enjoyed the very safe garden and the local wildlife / farm animals. In the double bedroom, it would have been useful for us to have an electric shower fitted above the bath. This would save having to use one of the showers fitted in the other two rooms. That said, having en-suite in each bedroom and a downstairs toilet was a welcome bonus. The property has its odd quirks. Not really an issue but some of the doors could do with easing and oiling to prevent creaks and odd stiffness. We would certainly be happy to return if visiting the area in future.

Hi Clive we are delighted that you all had such a good time at the Farmhouse, we are hoping to make the bathroom in question a shower room next year. As for the door....your right a little quirky...its had oil and the joiner, but it goes back to being the same...old houses :) But we're so pleased that you would be happy to return. It’s a great property with fabulous views and a delightful courtyard setting. Jim and Sharon were also very welcoming throughout. Our only criticism concerns what we came to know as the “comedy doors”. Several of the interior doors don’t fit at all well, and frequently stick and/or creak. To be honest, they do add a little to the character of the place, but could do with some carpentry attention!

Hi Cameron thank you so much for your great feedback...Ah! the doors we've had joiners at them and even oiled them but have resigned ourselves to thinking there part of a really old house. But! we will keep trying to make them less funny :) I promise. Take Care Jim & Sharon Property Owner

A place created for comfort and relaxation, very well equipped and with the extra touches it was almost perfect. A carton of milk and a hamper of goodies left by the owners were very much appreciated. Binoculars and walking boots are a good idea. Binoculars to watch the wildlife, wildfowl on the small lake just below the cottage, deer in the field just beyond and the badger in the garden feeding on the windfall apples. Walking boots as there are quite a number of walks around Jedburgh within walking distance from the cottage. These walks are not shown on the OS map but there are a variety of walks shown in a folder thoughtfully left by the owners. We will certainly be recommending Todlaw to family and friends and would definitely return in the future.

The house is large and comfortable, with beautiful, calming views of the rolling Borders countryside. Ever changing skies, green fields, the sounds of birds - and quiet. Lovely long (or short) walks. It is an easy drive to many places of interest, and at the end of the day, as you come up the lane to the house, you are glad to be 'home'. . .. to chop some kindling and start the log burner - not that you need it, because the central heating is efficient, staying cosy within the old thick walls. Jim and Sharon (and other family and neighbours) were just lovely - helpful and welcoming. I would love to come back to see the changes in another season.....maybe autumn, when all the fields and trees would have changed from their Spring colours.

Thank you Harry for your wonderful comments, you described Todlaw so well. We’re so pleased you all felt as if it was like coming home and this is something we really hope everyone does when they stay. Even to enjoy splitting kindles for the fire. • "This is by far the best holiday accommodation we have ever had the pleasure to stay in."

The house was wonderful, big, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need or want. The cleanliness was outstanding and all in all we had a terrific time in the Scottish Borders. The owners even provided a really fantastic hamper full of very welcome goodies. The boys (2 small doggies) had also been thought of with a welcome pack of goodies just for them!! From beginning to end, this experience has fuelled us to have many more breaks. I hope other guests treat this house with respect and love as it is very clear that the owners go out of their way to make sure it is a real home from home. The views from the property give you a real sense that you are in the countryside. The weather was very kind to us which really was the icing on the cake. Alan, Lin, Billy & Rufus

Will definitely consider another booking at Todlaw. Wonderful home and beautiful views. We felt very welcome by the owners. We had booked the house for my 30th birthday and on arrival was a birthday card from Jim and Sharon, including a bottle of win and other lovely treats. It was such a wonderful and memorable weekend.

  • "Todlaw Farmhouse exceeded our expectations."

It enjoys a wonderfully tranquil location with marvellous views yet is within a short distance of the amenities in Jedburgh. It was the perfect location for us. The property is extremely comfortable, tastefully furnished and presented with a high standard of cleanliness. The Welcome Basket of comestibles was much appreciated. It was a delight to sit outside in the evenings looking down on the large pond/small lake below and watching the swifts skimming across its surface and the surface of the neighbouring fields. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked it for a week next May. It should perhaps be made clearer on the directions that you need to approach the access lane from the Jedburgh direction and not attempt to make a left turn if approaching from the south. This is a minor niggle; it's a tremendous property for those seeking comfort, peace and quiet.
