Fully refurbished in 2025, the cottage combines historic character with modern comfort, making it a perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds and Oxfordshire countryside.

The cottage comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests in four spacious bedrooms.

Upstairs, there are two en-suite bedrooms, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a large family bathroom.

Downstairs features a large, well-equipped kitchen with dining and seating area, a separate sitting room with woodburning stove, a utility room and a cloakroom.

The property includes off-road parking, a two-bay garage and a fast electric vehicle charging point.

Set within a wonderfully well-connected corner of the Cotswolds, Black Bourton places you within easy reach of a rich mix of villages, towns and days out, making it easy to shape each day as it comes.

Nearby Clanfield, Bampton, Southrop, Burford, Witney and Kingham invite gentle wandering, from familiar filming locations and independent shops to riverside strolls and classic Cotswold streetscapes, while further afield Oxford unfolds in dreaming spires and historic colleges, Cheltenham brings Regency elegance and cultural flair, and Bicester tempts with designer shopping at Bicester Village.

Food lovers are especially well catered for, whether easing into the day at Blakes Café & Deli or Lynwood Café, settling into the welcoming atmosphere of The Double Red Duke, The Mason’s Arms, The Bell, The Five Alls, The Rose & Crown or The Plough, or heading out for destination dining at The Swan, Thyme, The Farmer’s Dog, The Bull in Charlbury, The Bull in Burford, The Wild Rabbit or The Highway Inn, where menus celebrate local produce in memorable settings.

Farm shops and garden centres add to the pleasure of exploring, from plants and coffee at Bampton Plants to the award-winning food halls and café at Burford Garden Company, the lively atmosphere of Millets Farm, the seasonal abundance of Daylesford, and the curiosity drawing crowds to Diddly Squat Farm.

Days out are just as varied, with Bampton offering a glimpse into television history, wildlife encounters at Cotswold Wildlife Park, sweeping parkland and grandeur at Blenheim Palace, panoramic views from White Horse Hill, honey coloured streets in Woodstock, riverside calm in Lechlade, market town charm in Witney and Burford, cultural depth in Oxford and Cheltenham, contemporary waterside living at The Lakes by Yoo, and indulgent shopping experiences at Bicester Village, all combining to create a stay filled with countryside, culture and cuisine.

Manor Cottage offers peaceful rural surroundings while remaining close to excellent pubs, cafés and attractions.

BAMPTON, OXFORDSHIRE

Witney 4 miles; Burford 8 miles and Oxford 19 miles.

The thriving village of Bampton lies in the Thames Valley in the southern Cotswolds, amidst beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. Bampton is one of the oldest villages in England boasting a village shop, Post Office, butcher, and traditional pubs serving good food and real ales, all set around a pretty market square a hundred yards from the cottage. Ancient customs can still be experienced with the regular morris dancing festivities, which have been enjoyed for over 600 years. Just four miles away is the riverside town of Witney, which offers many attractions including a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages, an 18th century town hall, and Wychwood Brewery. Burford is possibly one of the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. With little changing over the centuries. Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for it's shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. Oxford, the oldest university city in England, boasts interesting Botanical Gardens, museums and libraries, and plays host to many festivals and markets throughout the year. Enjoy a punt on the River Thames or take a boat trip on the River Cherwell. The ancestral home of Winston Churchill and the World Heritage Site of Blenheim Palace is just a short drive away, where many lovely walks can be enjoyed around the landscaped parkland. With so much nearby, Bampton provides a wonderful holiday destination.
