The property

Lon Bopty is a delightful three-storey cottage resting in the heart of Dolgellau, Gwynedd, within the scenic Eryri National Park.

Perfect for families and friends, this inviting retreat combines character features with contemporary comforts, offering a memorable base for exploring this picturesque region.

Arrive in Dolgellau and pull up outside to drop off your luggage and collect the key before heading to the nearby car park with your permit.

Pause for a moment to admire the beautiful stone façade of this double-fronted mid-terrace cottage, tucked away on a quiet lane in the heart of the old market town, before stepping inside to begin your holiday.

The open-plan living space greets you with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Start in the kitchen, where sleek wooden fixtures and a fully equipped layout make it easy to prepare everything from hearty breakfasts to indulgent evening feasts, complete with a coffee station for your morning brew.

Once your meal is ready, gather around the circular glass dining table, perfectly placed for laughter and conversation after a day of exploring.

When evening falls, move to the sitting area, where a mounted TV promises entertainment, a stylish keyboard invites a tune or two, and artwork above the fireplace adds a boutique touch to the space.

Sink into the comfortable seating for five and unwind with a film or a favourite book, accompanied by the gentle glow of the ethanol stove.

Climb the handcrafted oak staircase to the first floor, where two restful bedrooms await.

The spacious double bedroom features an original fireplace and clothes storage, offering a charming retreat, while the single room is ideal for a younger guest or solo traveller, with a clever work-from-home nook.

Nearby, the family bathroom feels spa-like, with rainfall shower and spa-like touches for added luxury, alongside a bath, vanity basin, and WC.

Continue upwards to the second floor and discover the showpiece of Lon Bopty: a boutique-style king-size bedroom tucked beneath apex beams and sloping ceilings, with soft carpet underfoot and stylish lighting casting a gentle glow.

Here, a freestanding roll-top bath invites indulgent soaks, while skylights frame views of the surrounding hills, creating a serene retreat.

Step outside and you’ll find Dolgellau’s charm on your doorstep.

A beautifully restored bench at the front of the cottage offers a spot to savour a peaceful morning coffee or an afternoon treat, while a short wander brings you to a welcoming pub, a handy shop for essentials, and the tranquil riverbank, perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Beyond, the national park beckons with its endless trails and breathtaking views, inviting walkers and cyclists alike to immerse themselves in nature, with Cadair Idris within easy reach for adventurous hikers.

For days out, head to Fairbourne, where golden sands meet the sea and the heritage railway offers a nostalgic journey through stunning landscapes.

Explore Barmouth, a lively harbour town brimming with character; browse its independent shops, savour fish and chips by the waterfront, and take in sweeping views from the iconic railway bridge.

Or venture to Aberdovey, a coastal gem where you can try watersports on the estuary, tee off at the scenic golf course, or simply relax with an ice cream as boats drift lazily across the water.

Lon Bopty is a stylish yet characterful retreat, perfect for families and couples seeking a base that blends rustic charm with contemporary comfort in one of Wales’s most captivating regions.
