  • "Wow! what a stunning property."

Opening the front door is like stepping into another world! Its quirkiness is so fascinating. Excellent maintenance and good facilities. Plenty or car parking and a pleasant little garden. Safe for dogs. We visited in November, the balcony area would be an amazing experience in the summer. A great place for exploring Chester and The Wirral. Unfortunately, we left a couple of child things behind and the owners are sending them on to us, for which we are extremely grateful. Thank you for an amazing experience, we would certainly return.

  • "First things first, the cottage is stunning and in a very picturesque location."

That's pretty much where the good parts end!! Before we even arrived at the cottage we were made aware, from other reviews, that there was a problem with the fridge freezer which we contacted the owners directly about. We were told that it was fine and could be sealed with masking tape that they were happy to supply, how gracious! We were also told that they would supply a smaller fridge to help, which they didn't. If you are over 6ft tall avoid this cottage at all costs as you will be continually stooping and it would be impossible for you to have a shower for the entirety of your stay as the roof is very low in the shower room. This coupled with the shower tray overflowing after a couple of minutes makes the whole experience stressful anyway. The sink in the shower room and the main bathroom are very pretty but absolutely not fit for purpose, more water ends up all over the surface, and neither have a plug. Now we get to the main crux of the property, There is building work being carried out by the owners on their adjoining land approx 10 meters from the rear of the cottage. The noise accompanied by not being able to secure the gate at the front of the cottage while the builders were there meaning we had to keep our dog in the whole time was the final straw. We decided to leave two days early and informed the owners of the problems and our decision to leave. Their response was to lie that they weren't carrying out the building work and were unsure who it was. We have since learned that the land being built on is owned by the same people who own the cottage! They graciously gave us a 'Good Will' refund of £101 for our ruined holiday which is an insult really. None of the problems in other reviews have been addressed and I'm sure they won't be. Book this cottage at you peril!!!

  • "Such a lovely unique cottage, in a great location to explore Cheshire."

The cottage has been renovated to a high standard. There is an issue with the fridge / freezer which i reported to the owners, so hopefully this is sorted for future guests. The kitchen equipment i found quite limited compared to other properties I have stayed in, with the addition of an oven tray, Sieve and better frying pan it would make a big difference. Overall it's a great place, would highly recommend it to friends and would stay again

Hi Nicola Thank you so much for your review and feedback and I apologise our response has taken a couple of weeks, this is a new system to us. The fridge freezer is now sorted, it just needed a new seal but thankyou for letting us know We have also added a couple of oven trays and utensils for future guests. Thankyou again for your positive feedback and we are really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the cottage and area :-) And of course great to hear that you would recommend the cottage and friends and would stay again ! • "Absolutely stunning cottage ."

Beds were extremely comfortable. Fridge and freezer not the best . Seal had gone on fridge and freezer box doesn't close . No baking trays to use the oven . So I wouldn't recommend taking food with you . Amazing welcome basket on our arrival and lots of info to read . Couldn't leave the dogs alone outside as not secure ( could easily climb through the gate ) Road outside cottage reasonably quiet but cars travel at very high speed so be aware . Stunning living room at night with the fire and plenty of candles around . Very relaxing Downstairs shower room very handy although be careful with the sink .. it's stunning but not very practical... shower tray starts to overflow if you are in shower for longer than a few minutes. Overall a gorgeous place to stay and a great base for exploring Cheshire etc

Hi Helen Thankyou for your review and feedback, we really appreciate it The freezer / ice box in the fridge has now been resolved (it had some ice preventing it closing well) and the fridge has a new seal so I am sorry this did not work as well as it could have done for your stay but hopefully will work well for future guests and if you ever return. We have also taken on board yours and other guests feedback regarding oven trays and utensils so more of these have been added to now The property is fenced at the back but the front garden does have a 5 bar gate with gaps as you say so for small dogs they would need watching, however, we aim to be very dog friendly, having 3 large dogs ourselves and will be adding fencing to the back of the 5 bar gate this weekend. Thankyou again for your feedback and review, it helps us to resolve any minor additions we can make to the cottage. I am pleased you liked the cottage and and area and found it relaxing and would love to welcome you back if you are ever in the area again ! Kind Regards Lindsey Property Owner
