The property

Thorn Tree Cottage is a beautiful single-storey cottage in Aston near Hope, Derbyshire, offering ample off-road parking with an EV charging point and far-reaching countryside views that frame the unmistakable silhouette of Peveril Castle.

Step inside and you’ll find a layout designed for easy holiday living, with a kitchen/diner ready for unhurried breakfasts and post-walk suppers, and a separate sitting room where the scenery outside does plenty of the talking.

Two inviting bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, make the cottage a great choice for friends travelling together, while the bathroom offers both a bath and a walk-in shower for rinsing off after a day outdoors.

A utility room add to the effortless feel, keeping everything practical without taking centre stage.

The setting in the wider Peak District National Park opens up days shaped by landmark views, village stops, and memorable outings.

In Hope, the surrounding valley invites you out for scenic rambles, with the castle view acting as a natural compass as you explore.

For a heritage-led afternoon, make time to visit Peveril Castle itself, then linger over a pub lunch afterwards in the village.

If you’re keen to head underground, Blue John Cavern makes for a striking day out, with its show caves and sense of discovery.

For a grander change of pace, plan a longer excursion to National Trust – Lyme, where you can wander the stately home and explore the wider estate for a full day on the move.

However you spend your time, Thorn Tree Cottage is a rewarding base for returning to those castle views at the end of the day.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.
