  • "A lovely holiday home that was sadly spoilt due to an infestation of fly's and bugs."

100's and 100's of them on all upper floors where two bedrooms are, full evidence was supplied and the property owners son visited the home to confirm how bad it was. I have contacted both Sykes and the property owner for a partial refund and was informed that no compensation would be paid, despite me paying £4k for a 3 night stay. Later this week I will be placing a chargeback via my bank for the full £4k and I would recommend anyone else in the same situation does this too, all I have asked for is a £500 partial refund which I felt was very reasonable under the circumstances. Once the charge back is made and I have received the full £4k refund Sykes or the property owner (Not sure who loses out) can take me to court if they wish to fight this further, silly that they have forced me to do this as this could have been resolved with a £500 partial refund.

We feel the need to reply to your review as it is upsetting to see. We feel we were at your every need throughout your stay. When the power tripped we had an electrician out in 20 minutes to rectify the problem (at this point you already asked for money off the property). My son did arrive with the electrician but confirms he made no remarks to how bad the flies were? That room is actually his own personally bedroom. You complained about flies (you showed us a photo which had about 8 flies on) which we responded with the cleaner arriving in 15 minutes, she confirmed there were not that many but she cleaned all the rooms again and offered to come back each day if you needed. We then continued to offer help and support with anything you needed while all the time you were asking for money back and threatening to charge back. After leaving the property there was... • a broken table in the kitchen • there were dog foot marks all over the furniture • the bed sheets in the small room needed replacing • there was a broken bed rail • there were make up (or tan) all over the rug which we replaced We feel that throughout your stay you complained the whole time and demanded your money back as soon as you arrived. Each time you complained we paid for emergency call outs in-between Xmas and New year. This was a very stressful time for us as the last thing we wanted was for our guests to be unhappy. It’s a stunning property-inside and out. The owners were lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. Would definitely recommend!

  • "A beautiful, well equipped and well maintained house."

The garden and outside areas are fantastic for the five young children we took with us. The hot tub was very well used by adults and children (with parents). Communication was fast and easy with the owner and maintenance staff. Small problem of the hot tub not heating first night was dealt with very fast and all sorted before the next afternoon.
