  • "We recently stayed at The Stables as a family of 4 (children are 5 and 7) and we don't have a bad word to say."

The cottage is set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, and has everything you need. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds, plenty of soft towels, and enough jigsaws to entertain us the whole week. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and the private, enclosed garden was ideal for the children. The Stables is also ideally located for days out, with a week packed with visits to National Trust destinations, Ironbridge, Telford Town Park (fantastic for the kids), Quarry Splash Park in Shrewsbury and a walk along the river, and Ludlow Farm. We also visited The Pound in Leebotwood for some delicious pie, which has a small play area outside. The Stables is definitely somewhere we will book again in the future. It's ideal for families as well as those wanting to get away for some uninterrupted peace and quiet. Just wonderful!

  • "A superb cottage in peaceful surroundings."

It is very comfortable and well equipped and we had a lovely week. It may seem churlish to say but our only suggestion would be that some of the cups / mugs have become chipped and could do with replacement but it caused us no problem whatsoever. We would highly recommend this lovely accommodation to anyone who wants a peaceful and restful holiday.

Thanks for your feedback and the heads up for the cups and mugs, I’ll get on that! So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

It’s a very well appointed, cosy cottage with stunning views. Clean, with modern fittings, well laid out for our family of four and the gardens are beautiful. Centrally located for walks and Shropshire sights. We particularly enjoyed the Carding Mill Valley which is just 15 mins drive, and Ludlow and Stokesay Castles are about half an hour away. We also had a great day out on the steam trains on the Severn Valley Railway.

We loved the retro board games and really appreciated all the leaflets, guides and maps on the local area. We had some brilliant days out, we love Shropshire!

Thank you for your feedback, it's good to know the old games are getting used every now and then! We look forward to welcoming you back to Shropshire in the future. Lu and Mike Property Owner

  • "The Stables is a comfortable and warm property."

It has a roomy kitchen, with lots of storage space, with good facilities, cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and hot water. The bathroom has an excellent shower. There is underfloor heating in lounge, kitchen, hallway and bathroom which works well and has an easy override option for additional heat. The bedrooms are heated by electric wall panels which are efficient. There is a good selection of local interest books and guides and an easy to work large screen TV. The hosts live opposite and are responsive and there is a very good view south from the property to the woodland on Lodge Hill. A private walled garden can be accessed from the lounge via a set of double doors, the garden is well maintained with fine flower beds, shrubs and lawn. The property is in a quiet location and a very good choice if you wished to explore Shropshire and the nearby Longmynd either on foot or by bike. There is a railway station at nearby Church Stretton or Shrewsbury with access into Powys. Shrewsbury has a regular Saturday morning Parkrun which is very popular and a regular very good indoor Market, excellent for fruit and vegetables.

Thank you very much for your feedback, it’s greatly appreciated. Lu and Mike Property Owner

Accurate listing. Although personal choice, option of a thicker duvet in the double bedroom would help with the variable summer weather. Appreciated the welcome pack but milk would be useful. We found some at a pop-up farm shop which was still open when we arrived. There are no shops or pub near.

  • "The car parking space was unsuitable because it was overhung by trees which continually dropped debris and a lot of very sticky sap which was very difficult to remove."

After the first night and having spoken to the owner, we were allowed to park on the drive. The controls for the four hot plates were unworkable even though we followed the instructions so we were unable to use them. We informed the owner who did try to assist. The double bedroom was cold. It needed a warmer duvet and better space heating.

We are so sorry you had so many problems during your stay. The trees have not been a problem for anyone else, it's rather unfortunate that your stay was at the time they were blossoming. We did our best to help you clean your car at the time and found you a different spot. The hob works perfectly well, I think you had difficulty understanding how best to use the different rings. When I explained this to you I thought we had solved the problem for you. It's a shame you didn't ask for help again as I would have been happy to assist. I 'm not sure why the room was cold as the heater was on when you left the property and the room was overly hot. There were clear instructions as to how to use it but perhaps you struggled with those as well. Property Owner

Everything was just as shown in the photographs. We enjoyed our stay and are returning next May. Visiting local towns like Shrewsbury we used the park and ride and they were excellent and made life easy. The only thing that could have improved our stay would have been to have had a parasol for the table and chairs in the private walled garden, but we coped.

Thank you so much for your feedback, it's really appreciated. We are so sorry about the parasol and absolutely kicking ourselves as we had put it away for the winter and completely forgotten to get it out. If only you had popped over or messaged, we could have found it for you. Point taken over some comfy chairs, we'll get that one sorted straight away. Looking forward to seeing you again next year, enjoy the rest of the summer. Lu and Mike Property Owner

Even with the instructions, one or two of the appliances e.g. the hob, take a bit of practise but, the kitchen is very well equipped for someone who loves to cook. We appreciated all the little extras. The property has wonderful views, fabulous garden, and the hamlet is well appointed for the towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton. Shropshire is a beautiful county with diverse landscape and great market towns. My only small niggle is that the mattress on the first single bed in the twin room was lumpy and probably needs replacement. With outstanding views of the surrounding countryside from every window, and attractive features such as original beams on the walls and ceiling, this beautifully converted stable is perfectly suited to one or two couples, or a family of 4. Frodesley is located in the centre of Shropshire's “Golden Triangle”; sited between Shrewsbury, the Ironbridge Gorge, and Ludlow.

Designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you will be well placed to enjoy long walks or cycle rides in the beautiful and ever-changing countryside.

When you return to the Stables, pop your boots by the door and make the most of the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up a tasty reviving meal, or take advantage of our local farm shop just 2 minutes down the road.

It offers a range of fresh produce, delicious cakes and biscuits, local produce and best of all a variety of ready meals all prepared on site.

Once replete you can relax on the sofas in the comfortable living room and enjoy a film or your favourite binge watch on the flat screen TV.

Books and games in the cupboard offer an alternative or a rainy afternoon solution.

Free WiFi.

From the lounge the Patio doors open onto your private well stocked garden, a lovely sunspot to indulge in alfresco dining or just relaxing in the sunshine.

Back inside, an attractive king-size bedroom promises a good night's sleep and next door the cosy twin room is the perfect place for the children to settle down, in peace and quiet, equally suitable for 2 more adults of course. At the end of the hall, a light modern bathroom can be found with a spacious bath and separate shower, always warm and cosy with underfloor heating and heated towel rail.

From the Stables, the view is of the Lawley and the Caradoc, very popular with walkers all through the year and hang gliders in the summer.

In the valley between these and the Long Mynd nestles the town of Church Stretton, less than a 10-minute drive away, where you will find a good-sized Co-op, chemists, Post Office, bakery and plenty of smaller interesting shops.

Alternatively spend the day in the bustling and historical town of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin.

Famed for its intriguing ‘Shuts and Passages’ and overlooked by Shrewsbury Castle, home to the Shropshire Regimental Museum, the town nestles in the crook of the River Severn.

The Quarry parkland follows the length of the river and features ‘The Dingle’; an outstanding formal garden and water feature with lots of seating for relaxing and taking in the view.

With museums, the Theatre Severn and numerous independent shops and places to eat the town has plenty to offer all ages.

Within a short distance you can also find the towns of Much Wenlock and Ludlow and various sites of historic interest.

A beautiful rural location, perfect for an all-year round break.
