    Miss Sandle

“Overall a nice place in a nice area, but after reading great reviews, we perhaps expected a little more.”

We may consider returning here, as the area was lovely and we enjoy the luxury of a private hot tub. If you do stay here, or around Nantwich I would recommend Chatwins bakery (took a little finding, check out their website before you rely on google maps, but well worth it for the piggy fondant fancies!), and Cheerbrook Farm was great for baked goods too, but their sausages were the star of the show there. They’re incredible- we even picked some up to bring home! Chester Zoo was less than an hour’s drive, which was great for a day out and still time for an afternoon in the hot tub. (In November most of the animals must have been hibernating, but in warmer months I’m sure you’d see much more...) I have some less positive remarks, but all were small things that didn’t greatly effect our stay, it was just the fact that we kept noticing more of them that made me feel the need to mention the consistent lack of attention to detail: - Broken glass in cupboard - Only 3 wine glasses when lodge slept 4 people - A bin outside has not been emptied. Was recyclable so didn’t smell, but still unprofessional in my opinion - We were not told if able to change outdoor light settings, so with motion detection light would often go off while out in the hot tub - Owner told us there should be bin bags in our cupboard, but there were none, so he said he would drop some off, however he never did - Owner was difficult to reach (rarely answered his phone and never first time including on arrival so wasn’t a smooth start to our stay) - There was no information on what to do when we left (handing keys back and exiting barrier), and he told us that he would let us out of the barrier when we did work out what to do upon leaving, but we had to be let out by a car which pulled up behind us in the end having waited to be let out for a while to no avail - So many people commented about there not being very much cutlery, and we found this still to be the case- some inexpensive knives and forks so that you don’t have to wash up after every meal while you’re on holiday would be nice! We found a few other minor things, like when painting the walls, marks on the ceiling were left there, and these things weren’t a big deal, it was just the fact that there were so many small things that made it disappointing, and it gave the impression of the owners not caring, which makes me think that if the place gets run down over time, perhaps improvements wouldn’t be made. If the cutlery is any indication, it just appears the owners are ignoring criticism. Everything was very clean and tidy, decoration is lovely and homely. Sofas were very uncomfortable, but beds were very comfortable. We had a lovely, relaxing stay so it feels bad to complain, but throughout my mother and I kept picking up on these little things and I suppose they took the edge off what could have been a perfect stay. Still very much enjoyed our time there as most things we noticed were easy to look past or to get over quickly, but I know that I would appreciate an honest review when considering this lodge.

The king-size master bedrooms benefit from lavish en-suite shower rooms. The interior of both lodges is complete with a luxurious family bathroom with contemporary tiles and glistening white units. The supremacy continues to the exterior where you can enjoy your tranquil setting in your very own luxury hot tub, alternatively take a seat on your patio with a refreshing drink or perhaps some alfresco dining. About the location

NANTWICH

Crewe 5 miles; Sandbach 10 miles.

The delightful market town of Nantwich is located 5 miles to the south east of Crewe and stands on the banks of the River Weaver and the Shropshire Union Canal. It is famous for its outdoor Brine Pool which is one of the few remaining in the UK and heated throughout the summer. There are regular market days throughout the week and a monthly farmers' market showcasing the best of produce from the local area. Nantwich town centre is pedestrianised and benefits from some superb examples of historic buildings, and is well worth visiting in spring and summer when it comes alive with floral displays throughout the streets. Nantwich plays host to many events throughout the year, including The Battle of Nantwich in January, the Jazz, Blues and Music Festival at Easter and the world-famous International Cheese Awards in July. Both Market Drayton and Whitchurch are within 12 miles and well worth a day trip to enjoy their history and architecture.
