  • "Lovely cottage in beautiful setting."

    Very well equipped.

  • "The cottage is wonderful - well equipped, in a tranquil rural location but within easy distance of M6."

This is our second visit here and I have no doubt we will return. Fantastic dog walking area too. The garden is lovely and has a large pond and lots of wildlife so if you’re taking a dog (or small children) be aware. The host, Ian, was exceptional.

  • "The property was exactly what was needed for peace and quiet!"

If you want somewhere out of the way and yet close enough to shops and restaurants (3 miles) then look no further, the Owner Ian was excellent.

  • "Cottage is well equipped and in a gorgeous rural location with multiple dog walks on the doorstep."

Wonderful countryside to explore and close enough to many visitor attractions in both Shropshire and Staffordshire. We had a relaxing and enjoyable time.

  • "Our host, Ian, has been exceptional."

Staples were there on arrival and lovely homemade lemon cake. Nothing was too much trouble. Seeing we were booked in for a month he installed a washing machine which lessened the burden of what to do with laundry. The cottage was really comfortable and ideal for the able bodied and disabled alike as there is a lovely ground floor bedroom and Wetroom. In a lovely valley with a brook running through the garden, it’s well situated for trips to Stoke-On-Trent, Wedgwood, Trentham Gardens, beautiful Shropshire and Cannock Chase for the mountain biker. Our 2 dogs settled really well and enjoyed their walks in the countryside. We can definitely recommend Woodland Cottage for a holiday.

  • "It was perfect and private."

my dog barks a lot but he didn't bark once whilst we were there. the only thing I didn't realise when I booked is that we were on the hotel grounds but noone was in. it was great.

  • "While we enjoyed our stay, we felt the listing was misleading."

From the description and the photos you would think you're quite secluded, however, the angle of the photos fails to show that you're in the back garden of the B&B mentioned as "next door" in the listing. The outside area is lovely and you would think from the listing that it's private use, however, the guests of the B&B were there a lot (which of course they are perfectly entitled to, it's just you expect it to be sole use from the listing). And finally on the last night not only were there people frequently walking past the cottage that made you feel like you were in a fishbowl, the guests also parked their cars outside the windows. All in all it's a very nice cottage, however, please be away that you're in the back garden/car park of the B&B rather than somewhere secluded.

  • "This is a lovely spacious cottage in a secluded and rural location, surrounded by a large garden with plenty of parking space, yet is within easy access of the many historic towns, museums and heritage sites around north Staffordshire and Shropshire."

However it had a number of minor faults that needed some maintenance and reorganisation in the bathrooms and kitchen area. It should also be noted that there is no washing machine, very unusual in a holiday cottage, although the owners offer to do washes at £10 a time.

Ian was a good host.He greeted us when we arrived, and we were delighted with a gift of a home made cake and apple juice. After that he left us to our privacy which was exactly how we wanted it.The cottage is amazing, in the middle of woods and natural beauty, cut off from the hustle and bustle of city life.We enjoyed the morning walks, resting on the hammock and the wood fires in the evening. There is a working watermill close by,next to a lake. Highly recommended, would definitely visit again in the future. Manuel and Sharon

  • "My daughter is a wheelchair user and Woodland cottage was perfect for her, the disabled facilities were as described."

The only thing I would change is to have shower chair rather than a stool. Ian and Vicki are wonderful hosts and make you feel very welcome. Ian cooked us a lovely curry that we requested and Vicki's massages are just divine, I'd go back just for that, Vicki also gave my daughter a massage and done everything possible to make her comfortable. Our little dog also loved it there. We can't wait to go back. We felt very comfortable in a beautiful location.

I was superbly fitted out, very clean and well equipped. Its location was in every aspect excellent and we both enjoyed our stay at it. The owners provided an excellent service and went beyond what is usually provided. All in all we had a very satisfactory weeks stay there and are very likely to return in the future.

Only down side to cottage is it is requested after booking that dogs not be left unattended in cottage, which is problematic if you are unable to take them on your day or evening out. We found the locals to be very friendly and also informative for places to visit and eat out.

Really nice touch from Vicki and Ian the owners was to have homemade apple juice and cake waiting for us on arrival but nicer still was the birthday cake they made for me on finding out it was my birthday. Weather wasn’t great didn’t matter the tranquility more than made up for that.

  • "Ian and Victoria were fantastic hosts."

My husband is disabled and, whilst the cottage was already designed for the disabled a couple of items, grab rails in the bathroom and a small ramp for the patio doors, were needed and immediately supplied. On arrival we were greeted warmly, supplied with lovely homemade lemon drizzle cake and apple juice. During our stay we had two meals in and can only state that Ian is a first class chef. A lot of the ingredients for the meals came from his own garden, of which he is justifiably proud. My daughter and I treated ourselves to a pampering session with Victoria and my husband had a reflexology session on his hand and feet. All of which we thoroughly enjoyed, Victoria is very good at what she does. The whole ambience of this cottage is restful, the grounds surrounding it are lovely and peaceful. We cannot recommend it highly enough and hope very much to be able to holiday there again

The location is perfect in a beautiful quiet tranquil setting. The owners are very accommodating. When we arrived there was homemade apple juice cakes and hotcross buns which were perfect and tasted beautiful. The cottage is so warm and has everything you need. The views are just amazing. There is so much to do with the kids in surrounding areas (about half hour drive ) trentham monkey forest., waterworld and Gladstone pottery museum are fab days outl There are also lots of good eating places around. The one thing that truly made my holiday was a facial and massage from Vicki the owner of the property. They live next to the cottage and run the b&b. It was truly the best facial I have ever had I felt amazing Vicki is so lovely i highly recommend taking time out to do this. All in all this is the best cottage we have stayed in you won't be disappointed at all. We can't wait to go back.
