  • "We were thrilled when we arrived at Tilly’s Lodge and saw the view we were going to enjoy which was picturesque and beautiful."

    The property didn’t disappoint us either and had everything you needed to enjoy the location. Big picture window doors opened out onto a decked area and along with equally big windows allowed the light and outside space to flood into the main room which was also spacious, warm and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything needed and our very friendly hosts left us some bits to welcome us which was a nice touch. The bedrooms were spacious and at the same time cosy, and we slept very well on the generous beds. Plenty of room in the shower on suite with another smaller water closet for convenience. John the owner was on hand and made us feel very welcome, giving a lot of extra information which added to our comfort and enjoyment. We also enjoyed interacting with Pearl the dog, Alice the horse, Dolly the cat and of course the Alpacas

  • "We loved our stay at Tilley’s lodge."

    Great location beautiful country side. Tickhill is a cute town with great pubs and shops. The Cottage was cozy and warm and had everything we needed. John was an amazing host and we can’t thank him enough. The alpaca’s and horses were a big hit with the kids. The kids loved playing in the field so much we have made memories here that will last a lifetime. Thanks again

  • "Tilly's Lodge is perfect for a family get together as we did."

    It has everything you need. The beds are very comfortable, the shower is amazing, and the living room with the log burner is perfect for those nights when you all get together and have real family time with fun and chat It's perfectly placed to get to Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. The alpacas are a real bonus, but the wild life you see as well is amazing . Would definitely recommend Tilly's Lodge for a family holiday. Think if we are having another family get together, this is the place we would do it again

    Beautiful stand alone location. Property is exactly as in the listing and is off line (solar energy and water from a well) so very environmentally conscious. John the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Great to have the Alpacas outside the property. Thought we were going to have a little alpaca but it didn't happen. The village of Tickhill is lovely and all amenities are present. We will definitely recommend to friends and may stay again ourselves. Tip - A few simple garden chairs would make it perfect.

  • "Lovely sweet cabin in a great location."

    The kids enjoyed the books and games that were provided. John was very helpful and friendly. It was a pain having no hot water most days, especially with teenagers who needed showering. The cleaning could do with been a bit more thorough, dust, cobwebs and flies on the floor when the kids playing and tooth paste in the bathroom sink

    Wonderful views over the surrounding coutryside but only 10 minutes away from Tickhill Village. The lodge was spacious with everything that you could need and the owner supplied a very nice and unexpected welcome basket waiting for us upon our arrival and he could not have been more friendly and helpful. Summed up in six words: spectacular views; cracking lodge; great host. All this and Alpacas too!

Also benefitting from an open-plan living space, the social hub of the home where you and your loved ones can spend quality time together, and off-road parking and a private decking area, Tilly’s Lodge welcomes six guests, ideal for couples, friends or families seeking a peaceful escape in South Yorkshire.

Upon entering your new abode, be impressed by the light and airy open-plan interior homing a kitchen with all the essential appliances required to make your self-catered stay a success, a dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove, a charming spot to curl up in on cooler evenings or admire the breathtaking views from the picture window.

TICKHILL

Sheffield 18.5 miles.

Tickhill is a Yorkshire village with a history dating back to the Domesday Book. There are many traditional shops and pubs in Tickhill, which is a lovely place to explore, including the 12th century Tickhill Castle, which has had an eventful history; a battle between Prince John and his brother King Richard I and then the civil war of the 1640s when Oliver Cromwell paid it a visit! Today Tickhill Castle remains an impressive ruin, with its Norman gatehouse, foundations and moat, which are all accessible. The lovely millpond has a wide variety of ducks, and there is a very pleasant circular walk from it, a great way to take in the surroundings. Tickhill is in a superb position for Doncaster Races, which is 10 miles away, and the bright lights, theatres and shopping of Sheffield is only a 20 minute drive away. The Peak District National Park, Alton Towers and Sherwood Forest, the classic home of Robin Hood are all within easy reach. Bawtry, where the Mayflower Pilgrim Fathers came from, can be explored, while Lincoln is just 40 minutes away and a bit further are the Lincolnshire coast, York and Leeds, or The Deep submarium in Hull.
