    We loved our stay here. It's really well located for exploring the local area. Had everything we needed and was very clean. The kitchen actually had good equipment as well unlike most places you stay with blunt knives and old pans.

  • "What a gem!"

    Rose Cottage is cosy, warm and welcoming; a great place to relax. The cottage is situated in the middle of the village which gives easy access to all the amenities and the added bonus of walks on the doorstep. We will definitely be returning.

    . we loved the village itself and very friendly people . The walks were wonderful too . We also loved the cordless hoover so we ordered one when we arrived home! Would definitely return again no problem .

  • "Rose Cottage is in a lovely position in the delightful village of Hartington."

    The only disappointment was the lack of simple things like salt and pepper etc. and a small bottle of milk, so we could have a drink when we first arrived. Otherwise the holiday was a great success and we didn't want to leave.

  • "Really pleased with Rose Cottage, the beds and sofas nice and comfy."

    Kitchen well equipped, I really appreciated the freezer and the good sized fridge as I like to take lots of food with me. Having the shower room as well as the bathroom is a big bonus. However I would like to make a suggestion for the shower room. If possible I think it would be better if the cabinet was moved to the right a bit as I bumped my head a few times on this while cleaning my teeth, then maybe a mirror over the wash basin. The conservatory was a nice place to sit and read. We were so lucky with the weather and did some lovely walks right from the door. We had a couple of meals in The Waterloo Inn Biggin. Friendly staff and lovely pub food with huge helpings just didn't have room for a sweet. Lots of self catering cottages offer complimentary tea, coffee milk etc which is a nice thought. Would highly recommend Rose Cottage and would like to go back sometime later this year otherwise definitely next year. Rachel & Alva Garnham

  • "An absolutely lovely cottage in a great location within a really friendly village."

    The cottage was cleaned to a very high standard and had everything you could have wished for. The beds were very comfy and the shower was brilliant! We especially love the door locking system, so you don't even need to worry about locking yourself out or forgetting keys. We will definitely be back.

  • "Lovely little cottage in a quiet picturesque village."

    Very clean, tidy and comfortable, the keyless entry is a great idea. We used it as a base for days out around the Peak District and really enjoyed the stay.

  • "The cottage was comfy and cosy."

    Only down side to this property is having no back garden and having to go into next doors garden to get to the bins. It’s not ideal when you have a dog. Location was excellent. So many walks from the doorstep of the property. Stunning village with pub and village stores. Would go back because of the location.

    The rooms were very well furnished and comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms extremely well equipped. It was very clean. It was always warm inside even though it was freezing outside. Parking right outside. A perfect stay.

  • "Rose cottage hartington."

    Stayed for 4 nights at this beautiful, well maintained cottage with everything we needed for our stay .The bed was really comfortable, the shower was nice and hot and towels were fluffy. The owner had thought of everything with a starter pack for our first fire,milk in the fridge and a lovely welcome pack. She’d even put a bed in for our dog. Will definitely return

Hartington, situated in the Dove Valley in the Peak District National Park, was an important market centre in the Middle Ages, having been granted a market charter in 1203. Today the ever-popular village boasts lovely tea rooms, a cheese shop, old curiosity shops, traditional pubs and a splendid market square where the stone-carved village pump, once an important source of water for the villagers, still stands on the green. The local bars stock local ales brewed at the Leatherbritches Brewery in Fenny Bentley and Whim Ales in Hartington itself. The former Hartington railway station, about a mile and half from the village itself, is now a picnic area and the converted track is known as the Tissington Trail, popular with both walkers and cyclists. Hartington is also a good starting point for walking along Beresford Dale, a beautiful place with its curiously formed cliffs and rocks. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within a 20 minute drive, and Alton Towers is within easy reach.
