"Buttercup Cottage was a cosy, warm cottage in a good location for visiting the Peak District."
The facilities are basic but sufficient. Only downside for us was the garden not being accessible straight from the cottage but we did know this before we booked. As previous reviews have mentioned the third step up to the cottage is very loose and therefore dangerous and we couldn't understand why this has not been rectified as it is a real health and safety concern.

"On a positive note the area is beautiful, with lots of nice walks uphill and down dale."
On a negative note, one of the steps up to the property is loose (a previous renter reported it in Sept and it still hasn't been fixed) and extremely dangerous. If you step on it at the wrong angle, you risk doing yourself serious injury. Inside the property it is adequate. The television has only the five terrestrial channels The washing machine doesn't work (again it has been previously reported but not repaired) It fills with water but doesn't wash. We had to waste 1/2 a day going into Buxton with wet, dirty clothes to find a launderette and pay £11 for something that we shouldn't have had to do. Had we known it didn't work we would have taken our dirty clothes home with us. There is no iron or ironing board in the property. The electric fire in the living room only worked for a few seconds before turning itself off. You need a degree in electrical engineering to understand how to work the electric hob Overall we had an enjoyable week in the area but I wouldn't recommend this property until the step has been repaired and the washing machine repaired/replaced

"The property was really nice and cosy, we had a really lovely and enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of the country."
The cottage has two bedrooms, and the one with the double bed is very spacious. Wifi works great, downstairs very comfortable, parking is easy round the back by the garages, and only 10 minutes from Buxton. All in all would recommend.

"Pleasantly surprised that the cottage is very large."
Bedrooms are beautiful, new comfy, very clean beds. The downstairs could do with an update but we had our little dog so it didn’t bother us. The cottage takes dogs so it is understandable the flooring takes it’s toll.
Very friendly neighbour helped us to open the back door, difficult to open, could do with a check.
Downstairs could have done with a deep clean, tacky kitchen surfaces, dirty dishes in the cupboard, etc but after we bought cleaner and quickly made it home we didn’t want to leave after our week.
Very close to Buxton. Plenty parking. Would return and have recommended to my brother. Apparently, he tells us that the little train station down the road is famous for trainspotters, we saw them looking over the railway bridge every day with their cameras at the ready

"We had a amazing 8 night stay in this cottage."
It was the perfect base to start all our hikes, clean, comfortable, very well maintained and welcoming. Parking wasnt an issue either, we parked outside the garage. We didn't get to meet the owner but all the instructions she had left was very helpful and neighbour Ken was very friendly and helpful.
The only issue we had was the washer/dryer. We just couldn't get it to work properly and I'd maybe recommend getting a new toaster, as this ones a little tiny. Couldn't fault this beautiful little cottage in any other way.
We would 100% stay at this cottage again and thank you for letting us stay.

"The property was clean and tidy but lacked a few basic kitchen equipment."
Very dog friendly neighbours even offered to look after our dog while we had a meal out ( we didn't take the offer up )
The cottage is situated in a perfect location for sightseeing, very good local pubs serving home cooked meals just right after day exploring !!

"The cottage is located only a few minutes drive from Buxton, which make things very easy."
The front door was a little difficult to find at first but once you get it it’s actually very easy. We had a bit of problem with beddings for the first night but Sally responded very quickly the next day which was super helpful given it was a Sunday. I will definitely recommend this cottage for people visiting the peak district.

"Location of property was excellent."
Tiny village a very short drive from the peaks. I hadnt realised garden was split by an access road but it was peaceful, equipped and practical for our short stay. Only 5 mins drive from Buxton and the pioles cavern and Go Ape. Many options for parking which were needed as parking out the front is at a premium but owners have this covered.

The owner was really helpful on arrival giving lots of information. The area is perfect for exploring the Peak District, the cottage it self is on a quite road with a handful of other cottages, highly recommend a walk up to see the Quarry it’s a nice peaceful walk. The walk up alongside the quarry was very picturesque and an easy uphill climb. Visited Buxton and Castleton which have many good eateries and pubs.

"Sally met us and explained everything."
The cottage was clean and well appointed. The setting was very peaceful and provided a base for what activities we cared to do.The neighbours were lovely and very helpful.
We had reason to call a local vet who gave some advice over the phone and unexpectedly called us back the next morning to see if the advice worked.
There is a sky system in the cottage with all terrestrial (Freeview) channels it would have been useful to have taken our sky card for the full range of sky channels.
All in all a good week away.
