  • "1. Address was not accurate for sat nav to follow."

    2. I would not consider that the small unenclosed pavement area outside the property was a 'patio' 3. Although bathroom kitchen and living area appeared clean on the surface, windows and surfaces generally seemed not to have been cleaned for some time. I thought this was particularly disappointing bearing in mind the covid epidemic. 4. Insufficient clear guidance available on safe walks and best routes to shops and other local amenities and attractions. Despite the above drawbacks. the property is very nicely situated with pretty views and accessible walks. Furniture is comfortable and the flowers, wine and chocolates provided were a very nice welcoming touch. Locals were very friendly and helpful. Overall, not ideally suited to a disabled, elderly lady travelling alone such as myself. Your company was aware of my age, disability and the fact that I would be travelling alone. Hence not satisfied with the level of help/guidance I received in choosing the let.

Thank you for your comments your main concerns appear to be around the booking of the holiday and unfortunately I have no control over this process which is handled by Sykes Cottages. I am pleased you found the barn comfortable and welcoming and people friendly and helpful. The property is cleaned with antibacterial sprays thoroughly between each guest and particular attention is paid to all surfaces it's unfortunate you were not able to speak to me at the time and I could have rectified any issues you had. Lovely hosts, quiet setting, very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Close to moorland with far reaching views and fairly easy walks for a 15 year old dog. Would recommend visits to Hebden Bridge and Haworth and would definitely recommend The Barn as a base for exploring.

Catherine and Mark went above and beyond to look after us during our 2.5 weeks at the barn and the moorland walks were perfect for our dog. Lots of pubs within walking distance too. All in all, highly recommended! :)

  • "What a lovely cottage."

We arrived a few hours before Storm Arwen and through the night the electricity supply was cut off by the storm. Catherine and Mark, the owners, were straight onto the lack of power and hooked up a generator until 2 days later the electricity people brought in a bigger one for the 40 properties with no power. What lovely caring owners we really appreciated all their efforts. All facilities at the cottage are modern and it was cosey and very clean. No downsides to it at all. We had a great time.

thank you for taking the time to review the cottage whilst your stay was problematic I'm glad to hear our efforts to provide you with some electricity were appreciated best wishes Property Owner
