  • "We had a lovely week with our two young boys who loved the play area in the house and the apparatus in the garden (as all as the park in the village) The house is very well maintained and clean and the space nicely laid out which made it very comfortable for the four of us."

    We were there for October half term and there was plenty to do within a 20 minute drive or less to keep the boys occupied each day

  • "Beautiful holiday cottage, very spacious and had everything we could have dreamed off and more!"

    Only points to note is that upstairs is a bit chilly in the evenings due to the stunning historic windows not being as functional for the colder weather. So maybe pack cosy pjs. We used the holiday cottage for a family trip to Alton towers and it’s about 15mins away so perfect location. Will definitely book again for our next trip.

  • "The Coach House at Mayfurlong Farm was absolutely first class."

    I would go so far as to say it was one of the best cottages we have stayed in with Sykes Cottages. It was well maintained and was in an area that was so quiet. Its not far from Leek or Buxton. We walked to Grindon to look at the village and the church. We were surprised at the local bus shelter full of books to buy or swap. Plenty of walks around and we went to Thors Cave.

  • "A superb, well equipped cottage, located in stunning countryside and with many wonderful walks within close proximity."

    Plenty of good pubs nearby to eat out and we really appreciated use of the EV charger. A highly recommended place to stay in a beautiful part of the Peak District.

  • "This is a beautiful cottage in a great location!"

    Stunning scenery of The Peak District, not far from The Manifold Valley, Dovedale, Alton Towers and situated between the lovely towns and Ashbourne and Leek. The cottage itself has been finished to a very high standard with characterful fixtures and fittings. It was immaculate throughout and was very well equipped. We would definitely return next time we are in the area. We arrived to find beautiful fresh flowers, milk and Bakewell tart which was delightful! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • "High quality accommodation at excellent value."

    A perfect location that provides peace and quiet whilst still in a good location to allow you to explore the Peak District. The coach house is finished to a very high standard and has everything you would need. A real home from home. Would highly recommend.

  • "We had such a lovely stay."

    Everything was as promised and yet the cottage felt better than the description. It was spacious and yet cosy, super clean and very well resourced. We were only staying for a long weekend but immediately wanted to stay longer and will be booking again. The rooms felt newly decorated and the kitchen was perfect. Perfect location for walks in the Peak District straight from the house or feeling away from it all, while being close to the village of Grindon with Leek and Ashbourne just a short drive away. Great 4 days.

  • "Perfect family-friendly base to explore the Peak District from."

    Great place to stay if you are looking for a rural and peaceful location which is close to Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and some fantastic walking close by. There are original and quirky features in the cottage along with all the mod-cons you need for a really comfortable stay - WiFi, smart TV, air con units, washing machine and a fully equipped kitchen. As well as a dedicated indoor space for little ones with books, games and cushions, there is a fab outdoor play frame with slides and swings. Loads of open space for kids to run about safely. We didn't bring a dog but saw there was equipment (bowls, towels, treats etc) provided for them too. The beds were of high quality and super comfortable with lovely linen and towels. Nice welcome treat on arrival too. All in all we were very well looked after. We will definitely be back and recommend to everyone. Thank you!

The Coach House at Mayfurlong Farm is a charming barn conversion situated in the picturesque Staffordshire Moorlands, on a private smallholding near the market town of Leek.

This delightful rural retreat is perfect for families or groups of friends, offering a serene escape with stunning countryside views and convenient off-road parking.

The village of Waterhouses lies between the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne on the southern fringes of the Peak National Park. The village was once the terminus of the Manifold Valley Light Railway - now the scenic Manifold Cycle Track, which winds its way through the picturesque valleys of the Rivers Hamps and Manifold. The track is flat and traffic free for cyclists, walkers and horse-riders. Waterhouses offers a selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. The famous Alton Towers Theme Park is only a short drive away.
