  • "We love this amazing, quirky cottage."

It was immaculate inside and out, and the facilities were fantastic. The garden is pretty and it was great to park the car on the drive with the gates closed. One of the reasons we chose the cottage was the hot tub and it really didn’t disappoint!! If you have a long vehicle, parking may be more of an issue than my small SUV.

Thank you for this lovely review Debbie. It is nice to be able to close and lock the gates to the garden and patio area and know that pets or children are safe. We’ve had a few guests stay with Toyota Hilux’s and still be able to close the gates, but you are right anything longer and the gates may not close. I hope you’ll visit again Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Lydgate Cottage."

The property has been beautifully done and was comfy and cosy for us and our two dogs. Eyam is also a great base from which to explore the stunning local countryside, with a seemingly inexhaustible network of walking trails in all directions. We were able to clock up over 50 miles of hiking without needing to get in the car. There is then the bonus of the hot tub at the end of a day’s exploring, plus a good choice of places in Eyam to go for a meal and a drink. All in all, a fantastic trip and we fully intend to visit Lydgate Cottage again in the future.

Thank you for this lovely review. I hope you’ll come back again. 50 miles of hiking! Wow that’s impressive! Property Owner

  • "A lovely quaint cottage with a mix of old and new."

The kitchen, bathroom and outside hot tub were all modern and looked brand new. Everything you need for a few nights away. Rainfall shower and the pressure was especially good. Lots of old stone in the kitchen and lounge which gave it a rustic look. Log fire was lovely, cottage was lovely and warm. Bed was comfy. Clearly a lot of time and effort has been spent on the hard product. Welcome package was a nice touch, small bits of feedback would be to have more provision of tea and coffee, oil for cooking and milk would have been really helpful given the small amount of tea/coffee provided. Location is great we had two days of walking around the hills, one in the snow. Our dog loved it and she really enjoyed the big dog bed. Thank you

Thank you for the lovely review James. This is really appreciated. I’m so pleased you found the cottage warm and comfortable. We were providing milk but found it was often left and we threw it away. We tried to make up by adding extras to the welcome pack. Agree, cooking oil would be useful but I’m not sure how as we can’t leave anything open or used for the next guest, but will definitely look into it. Property Owner

Well equipped for both us and our dogs, and just so cosy. There is even a dog wash for muddy paws after a walk.Owners were so helpful and friendly and at hand if we needed them. Perfect location with some beautiful walks starting at the cottage. We had the most wonderful stay, all the extra touches were very much appreciated. We have already recommended to a few of our friends. Will definitely be booking for another week again next winter. Thank you for making our holiday perfect

Some lovely little touches like the dressing gowns and slippers were most welcoming along with the fizz, basket of goodies and of course the hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves exploring some really lovely walks during the week and we would like to think that we will be back again next year.

  • "We had the most amazing stay at Lydgate, perfect for small families or couples."

(There were four of us + dog but our youngest refuses to sleep by themselves) The kitchen is well stocked, we took our our dog bowls but there was actually some already there. When we arrived there was a basket with some welcome items in, some milk in the fridge and a bottle of fizz that was extremely appreciated after our drive! I loved the small touches like the books on the shelves from and about the local area as well as the dressing gowns, and some spare slippers, which were great for wet feet and on the flag stone floors. There was also baskets of blankets and a log bucket for the fire which we made full use of, and the fire was especially nice after coming inside from the hot tub! We made full use of the hot tub in the afternoons and evenings, after taking the dog out on a walk, which there was plenty of locally. Incredible stay, and while we were there we tried to add on a some additional days but unfortunately couldn’t get the availability with hubs work. Would recommend and most definitely would return.

Thank you for your kind review Property Owner
