"Lovely little cottage."
We have just stayed at Cuckoo. However it accommodates 5 people in 3 bedrooms, the single bedroom is very small and after arrival found the window is not am opening one, it was boiling in there and my daughter had very uncomfortable stay as all nights were far too hot to sleep well, and felt clausrophobic. Thr bathroom was mc but again, for 5 people think another separate toilet/shower in cottage is needed. cottage is only two rooms downstairs with a very small kitchen so felt very crowded when all in. Cleanliness was mainly good but We noticed cobwebs in lounge on lamp shades, smd the bathroom window had a bad mouldy ledge. Also no outside light at front of cottage but there are two steps which made it somewhat dangerous at night when leaving or entering amd noticed a previous review said same. Pool is nice to have, but again noticed loads of dead flies in all the pool window sills which was off putting, games room above is boiling hot, but a nice add on, byr again closed at 8pm which isn't limg enough for a family to enjoy after a day out, think 10 pm would be better. There are 10 cottages all next to each other other joined, lovely area in country but can't help but feel amenities aren't quite enough there. No response to request for late check oit smd was very late arriving due to the wrong postcode being given on directions from booking, sending us miles out to a farm camping site, who were sick of the same issues from the bookings arriving from here. Also have to strip sll the beds on departures which found strange, we get the put your rubbish out and clean the cottage request but having to vacate at 10am doesn't allow for any lay in or enjoyment on last day, in addition to a 4pm check in is really not enough time to enjoy the break, and the the price charged especially not. But had a lovely stay and break other than these issues

"A lovely, cosy and quiet cottage!"
Has everything you could need for your stay. Thoughtful welcome gifts left by the hosts and the beds were very comfortable! One thing that the cottage would benefit from though is an external light by the front door/approach. My aging, partially sighted father really struggled to navigate the approach and the steps around the front door. Other than that minor observation 10/10, will definitely return in future.

"Absolutely loved our stay at cuckoo."
It was everything I hoped for and everyone enjoyed it. Lovely base to go exploring from and the log fire warmed us up again nicely.
Pool and games room could do with a bit of renovation but perfect for kids

"We stayed in Cuckoo - very cosy but not for 5 adults."
Also, no lighting outside cottage and it has 2 steps to get into it.
Not all cottages have parking right outside either - plenty of parking though
The site is great and was very nicely decorated for Autumn/Halloween
Ideal site for groups of families to meet up

"The cottage its self was as described."
Lovely location. Ample facilities. Close proximity town, but far enough away. Our only criticism is Sykes directions to the property. They give a what three words location to use but that takes you to a camp site. So we then used the postcode and that takes you down a lane with a sign saying it is not the cottages, clearly plenty of people end up there. This is not what you need after a 5hr journey. Thankfully the camp site owner helped us out.

"Lovely cottage with great facilities, especially the pool which was kept at a great temperature."
The cottage is well equipped and great selection of TV channels. One small point is the bathroom sink taps squeaks badly and is very annoying.

"Really loved the cottage and the facilities and we will book again."
It was so homely and with the handyman and his being around he helped us with a few minor problems. A few minor problems that could be added or fixed a Pizza cutter
No logs or notice on sykes website to bring your own. The offer to order some inadvance on sykeswebsite would have helped.
Postcode not correct as it covers big area. Sykes needs to modernise and Use just 3 words. No sign for the cottage on the road. Use bakewell retreat in Google maps as the cottage isn't recognised. Rang sykes emergency line asking for help but no one still has rang me back.Sykes this needs to be investigated. We spent over 1 hour looking for a cottage. Very obvious sykes haven't used their own directions to find the cottage. I have used sykes a few times but sykes advertisement and lack of knowledge of the property let us down this time.

The pool was wonderful, so warm and clean. Smashing field at the back to exercise the doggie!
Hope to come again soon for longer next time!
Would definitely recommend to friends and family and my daughter has already shared to her families as she runs baby and toddler groups! Thank you for a wonderful stay. Everything was just perfect!! :)

"We had a lovely stay and liked the quirkiness off the cottage."
The beds were really comfortable.
There are a few maintenance issues. Front door of one of the kitchen cupboards is loose. The zip on the sofa cushion is broken. The ring on the towel rail is loose in the bathroom. We had to reset the boiler most days as it kept going off.
We stayed for a week and think that our towels could have been changed.

"We enjoyed our stay at Cuckoo."
The cottage was really cosy and after a long journey, the complimentary Halloween sweets and wood burning stove were just the ticket. The swimming pool and games room enhanced the stay even more! The location was perfect. Owners were friendly and professional. We look forward to returning!
