“Overall, we had a really lovely stay.”
I've provided a lot of detail below, just as I like reading all the in-depth reviews when I'm choosing to visit somewhere!
Jo, the owner, was really friendly and welcoming and was on hand in case we needed anything.
Location: 10/10 - it took us around 30 minutes to get to Bakewell and Alton Towers, 20 minutes to get to Illam Park and Dovedale. It's so quiet, you can hear the sheep and cows (a nice change from hearing sirens in the middle of Croydon town!). It's down a private road, which was fine for my little old Fiesta but maybe don't take your best Porsche!
Amenities: 7/10 - the only reason I've rated this slightly lower is the kitchen doesn't have everything you need, so I'm not sure you'd be able to rustle up a huge feast as it's quite a small oven and hob area. We took our own bbq which worked well. The property advertised a bbq included, I had a walk around but couldn't see it anywhere.
The bed was a spring mattress, which was okay. The pillows probably need replacing soon as they're quite lumpy but that's such an easy fix. Sofas are comfy!
The outdoor table seating area could be maybe be upgraded for a wooden table/bench as the chairs were a little wobbly so it wouldn't really be suitable to sit outside in the sun for hours.
There's board games too inc. scrabble, monopoly, trivial pursuit & a selection of books too - we had great fun playing monopoly and scrabble. Trivial pursuit was a 2003 version and we're in one 20s so had no idea what the answers were ha!
We would definitely come back again. The things mentioned above are just really minor things which could be improved.
