  • "Meadow Place Barn was amazing."

We had a very relaxing time. Our two families and our dogs had a wonderful holiday. The enclosed garden & secure driveway were fabulous for the children & dogs. There was plenty of garden furniture, which we really enjoyed using when the weather was lovely for the first half of the week. The property inside was extremely spacious, with a huge lounge & open plan landing/dining area. The property was extremely well equipped. It very much felt like being in the countryside, situated on a very quiet country lane, with plenty of walks nearby. Our host was very friendly & helpful & suggested places to go. We enjoyed all of the local pubs & the local shop had everything we needed. The local people were extremely friendly. I would highly recommend it.

  • "This is a wonderful building with extremely spacious and comfortable lounge, dining room etc."

Well equipped with lounge and dining furniture and glassware, crockery etc. Plenty of secure off-road parking and a lovely garden area. Two sets of outside furniture plus a BBQ which we used on two occasions, with our coats on, it was end September after all. The village was lovely with three pubs in total, two that provide meals and one that is for drinks only. All the people we met were very friendly. There is also a Londis store and a butcher's shop. The property is well-situated for visiting a lot of different areas and sites. We had a lovely week here. We do have a few slightly negative comments though. Firstly the lighting in the property is very poor which does make it seem a little dismal. Some of the beds, in particular those in the two rooms to the left of the hall, are not the most comfortable. The other twin room was a little small and would better suit a double bed, the beds in this room were comfortable enough but the frames were very noisy when turning over etc. The bedding was clean but some of the pillows and duvets were a bit lumpy. As I said above it is a wonderful, characterful building but would say, would benefit from a bit of updating in kitchen and bathrooms. Having said this, we would still return.

We had a few teething problems at the beginning, but these were sorted quickly and efficiently and in no way detracted from our fantastic stay at this property. The village is beautiful and lots of walks available from the door. We were a party of 7 adults & 1 dog and Meadow Place more than satisfied our needs. Thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Very warm and comfortable, all it lacked was a few books and better lighting to able to read them in front of the roaring open fire in the spacious sitting room. Ample maps and local information in the barn, especially about the delightful walks from the door.

There is plenty of space for children and adults alike. Plenty of parking for our cars. The village is pleasant and we ate at the restaurant on two occasions. Make sure you are hungry as the portions are large. It is easy to access many tourist attractions from this location. The only down side is that the bus service is not good at all, so you need to use a car to get any where. Once again a really good family holiday. Thank You.

Keeping the bedrooms cool being downstairs. The settees in the lounge were the best we have ever sat on, so comfortable. The only downside we found was the beds were a bit firm for our liking, otherwise quite well equipped. The location was great and easy to get to and very quiet. Added bonus a local shop and 3 good pubs 2 selling evening meals.

Upon arrival the cottage was beautifully decorated for Christmas which the children especially all loved the festive touch. The cottage is stunning, the pictures don’t do it justice. Beds are all comfy and all have en-suite facilities. The only slightly downside was that the electric showers in the double rooms were not very powerful but the nicer ones off the mains in the twin rooms were much better. Cottage is really well equipped with all cons and accessories. The log fire was amazing and the extra supply of free wood is a nice touch. Overall we had a brilliant time and it’s an amazing cottage to meet up for celebrations, good local pubs too. Would definitely return

  • "The beautifully converted barn was fitted out to the highest standards."

The insulation of the building was so efficient that the rooms felt warm with minimal heating at the beginning of October. The bedrooms on the ground floor were a little cooler after 10pm which was exactly what we wanted. The wood and coal burner in the sitting room was stocked with large quantities of logs and coal but was never needed because the central heating was so effective. We particularly appreciated the four bathrooms. All the facilities were just as described and the kitchen was fully equipped with all we needed. We were greeted by the owner who gave us all the necessary basic information and then simply left us to enjoy the break. One of our daughters came over for a day with her family and was tremendously impressed. We would certainly recommend Meadow Place very warmly and hope to revisit it.

The cottage itself is spacious and accommodated our party of 8 well. Well equipped and the owner Karen came to introduce herself on day of arrival. Very friendly and welcoming and said just to knock if we needed anything, which we didn't. Would definitely recommend the cottage and would like to return to the Peak District in years to come to do some walking, without children!

Very impressive as you walk into the open plan upper floor. There is a sun room/ children's room which is in need of renovation. I would not want to use it as a bedroom in its current state which is a shame as it is big enough to be split in two. Overall a very nice place stay which provided a convenient base for a walking holiday. Would definitely recommend.

The rooms were spacious yet cosy and we felt very much at home. There was enough room for us to stay comfortably together and have our own space too. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to cook up meals and assemble a teetering birthday cake. The entrance room itself was a sight to behold. My brother even manged to fit his kayak in there as he ferried us to walk through Dovedale. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Humphrey's who let us bring our aged dog with us, who really is one of the family. You made us feel comfortable and at home. I am sure we will be visiting when another special birthday appears on the horizon. The Marriotts

The property

A superb, Grade II listed stone-built property, situated in a delightful position in the rural village of Ipstones, on the western edge of the National Park.

This exceptional property has been skilfully created from the conversion of a lovely old barn to provide spacious accommodation of a very high standard.

Care has been taken to retain much of the original charm and character of the property including solid old beams and exposed stone.

The accommodation is upside down to take advantage of the light and the barn's splendid natural features.

The magnificent sitting room has a vaulted, beamed ceiling which is open to the eaves, while the second sitting room features a double bed, so you can relax with a good film.

A rather special base for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year.
