The property

Crich 2.3 miles.

Meadow View Cottage is a charming stone-built hideaway tucked away in the tranquil village of Whatstandwell, near Crich in the heart of Derbyshire.

The farm was in the ownership of the Nightingale family for almost 200 years and Florence and her family spent their summers at Lea Hurst, about a mile away.  She took a great interest in the village people and among many good works endowed a teacher in the village school.

Blending rustic character with homely comfort, it’s a wonderful choice for couples or small families keen to explore the rolling hills, scenic trails and timeless villages of the Peak District.

Step through the door into a welcoming open-plan living space, thoughtfully designed for relaxing and spending time together.

The kitchen comes well-equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay, from a gas hob and oven to a fridge and microwave.

Enjoy unhurried breakfasts or hearty suppers around the dining table, before settling into the sitting area, where a woodburning stove sets the tone for laid-back evenings after a day in the countryside.

The cottage offers two inviting bedrooms, a king-size and a single, both finished with care to create a restful retreat at the end of the day.

The shower room is sleek and refreshing, featuring a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

Outside, the enclosed garden is a real highlight, a peaceful, green space where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine as the sun sets behind the hills.

There’s also off-road parking for convenience, along with WiFi and a TV to keep everyone connected and entertained.

The area is a haven for wildlife, birds and even frequent visits from badgers in the evenings.

The Cromford Canal towpath is accessed directly from the farmyard, leading to miles of walks to enjoy, including the High Peak Trail.

From your doorstep, wander into Crich, a quintessential Derbyshire village known for the National Tramway Museum and scenic walks offering far-reaching views across the Amber Valley.

Nearby Matlock Bath is easily reached by car, where you can explore the Heights of Abraham, browse local shops or enjoy a riverside picnic.

Buxton is a charming spa town on the edge of the Peak District, known for its historic architecture, Pavilion Gardens, independent shops and beautiful countryside walks, making it a great place to explore during your stay.

Nearby Bakewell is a picturesque market town famous for its riverside walks, traditional stone buildings, independent shops and, of course, the original Bakewell pudding.

Whether you’re looking to unwind in peaceful surroundings or uncover the charm of the Peak District, Meadow View Cottage promises a delightful and memorable break in beautiful Derbyshire.
