The property

Chimney Cottage is a charming pet-friendly cottage situated in the picturesque village of Winster in the Peak District.

It is newly renovated and boasts the excellent facilities and sublime countryside views that make it a perfect retreat for a family or group of friends looking for a getaway.

It is one of Winster’s oldest and quirkiest cottages and used to be the village’s sweet shop.

There is on-road parking directly outside the house.

Inside, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing home-cooked meals to be enjoyed together around the dining table.

Along with an oven, hob, and microwave, there are plenty of pans and other cooking utensils that take the pain out of cooking.

The inviting sitting room - previously the house’s stable block - comes with plenty of comfortable seating that you’ll enjoy sinking into, plus a smart TV.

It’s an enchanting space to unwind after a day of exploring or for a night curled up in front of the stove.

There is also a separate cosy snug with an additional smart TV - ideal as a second sitting room or for use as a children’s playroom.

There are plenty of children’s books and board games available, as well as some adults’ books.

Outside, the elevated private garden offers the chance to bask in the sun as you look over the sweeping countryside views with a drink in hand.

Once the sun sets for the night, the bedrooms will be inviting you for some rest - a double room, a twin room, plus a further day bed in the snug for a fifth guest.

A Jack-and-Jill bathroom serves the bedrooms - and offers a bluetooth speaker to play your favourite music or podcasts as you relax in the bath.

There is also an over-bath shower.

There is a separate downstairs cloakroom.

The excellent village shop and two village pubs are on your doorstep for any essentials and for dinner and drinks out.

Along with the dozens of beautiful local walking, hiking, and cycling routes, you can head out and about to Matlock to get the little ones excited to see some fascinating creatures at Matlock Bath Aquarium as well as the Matlock Farm Park, or get the adrenaline pumping on the family fun rides at Gulliver's Kingdom.

Just a short drive away, you can explore the magnificent Chatsworth House and have a go at escaping the Chatsworth House Maze, let the kids run wild through the Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground, or take a trip to the Heights of Abraham for breathtaking views of the Derwent Valley.

WINSTER

Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
