  • "I have shared my thoughts with the owner by email while we were staying (you are welcome to have these too if you like)."

However this is my feedback on the website details : 1) The downstairs main living space is very small for 4 adults - a single small kitchen/sitting area (there is no separate dining area). Describing this as the "true social hub of the home" is a bit of a joke. There is barely room to move, nowhere to hang coats, nowhere to store footwear, the dining table is barely big enough for 4 and the "plush" sofa is actually two small cheap tubular framed IKEA sofas with hard cushions, low backs and a throw. Whatever it is, it isn't plush (or remotely comfortable). 2) There is no washing machine despite it being listed 3) The "chosen chef" is going to be very disappointed in this property, the kitchen is extremely basic, and so space constrained there isn't even room to drain the dishes after washing up! A single person cafetierre and teapot is unlikely to satisfy a "group of friends"! 3) Roadside parking "out front of your delightful home" is misleading. The small one-way street is usually fully parked up, and there is only one (non allocated) roadside space outside the property. 4) The suggestion that guests "soak in your surroundings" might be a mistake. On the day we arrived, one house in the street was having replacement glazing since the front window had been bricked overnight. On our first night, passing drunks kicked at and broke the front door. The street has broken glass and dog mess, and in fact was so unpleasant in places we walked down the middle of the road! The property is in a terrace with 2 semi derelict buildings, and the yard behind the property is a dump of wrecked vehicles, waste building material, an abandoned toilet etc. We have photos if you would like to view the scenery! 5) the bedrooms would be more "inviting" if they had any furniture other than a bed and a clothes rail! There is not a single wardrobe or chest of drawers in the whole property, leaving guests little choice but to live out of their suitcase. In general, I would say this property should be classed as offering basic accommodation with a price that reflects this, is not suitable for groups with more than 2 people despite the number of bedrooms, and the description needs to be changed to reflect the reality of the property and the street rather than the "estate agent" speak!

With a collection of tasteful living spaces set across three floors, and a superb location just a stone's throw from the nearest amenities, this lovely abode makes an ideal base for a small family or group of friends, looking to refresh with a relaxing, self-catered getaway.

Park up roadside out front of your delightful home-from-home, taking a moment to soak in your surroundings before stepping indoors.

Once inside, discover the elegant, well-appointed open-plan living area, comprising of a fully-equipped kitchen that will delight the chosen chef, a dining table, and a sitting space with a plush sofa, electric fire, and a sleek, wall-mounted Smart TV - the true social hub of the home where you and your loved ones can gather to savour dinners, watch your favourite films and TV shows, or plan the rest of your holiday itinerary.

When the sun sets, head upstairs to indulge in a revitalising bath or shower before you eventually settle down for some much-needed rest in one of the home's three inviting bedrooms, choosing between an opulent double or two singles.

If you can tear yourself from your peaceful new base, set out on foot to explore what the beautiful town of Buxton has to offer.

The briefest of walks will bring you to your nearest shops and convenience stores, whilst The Ale Stop and The Vault are just two of the many pubs that lie just a short stroll from your accommodation.

You can start each day with a soothing cuppa at The Tradesman's Entrance Cafe Ltd, pick up some local produce at Buxton Markets, and make the most of the iconic landmarks and attractions that are scattered throughout town, whether that's an amble through Buxton Park, and the adjoining Pavilion Gardens, catching a live performance at the Buxton Opera House, or even delving underground on a subterranean tour of Poole's Cavern.

For a full day out, jump in the car and head east into the Peak District National Park, where you can explore the equally stunning caverns of Speedwell and Treak Cliff, as well as the ancient ruins of Peveril Castle and Chatsworth House.

All of this is yours to enjoy when you book 15 Torr Street.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
