• "Wonderful, cosy but modern apartment in a really great location."

  Everything we needed was provided, we were warm and comfortable during a chilly break, and felt so relaxed. The welcome treats were so kind and generous. It's lovely to stay in a pet friendly place which is so clean and provides throws to protect the furniture if needed. Also, the whole town welcomes dogs and has a very friendly vibe. It's a lovely place to explore and the owner was kind enough to offer us early check-in and make us aware of Christmas events happening when we stayed. Literally 2 minutes walk to a great chippy and the Picturedrome for gigs.

• "Absolutely gorgeous cottage with lots of lovely finishing touches such as a basket of treats, and milk in the fridge when we arrived."

  Lots of helpful information left in the file for us to read. Excellent location, we were at a gig at the picturedome the first night and it was a couple of minutes walk away, with lots of nice pubs, restaurants and cafes nearby.

  What a fabulous find. Perfect location for enjoying walks and even better that we only had to take the car out a couple of times as most of the walks started locally. The information books in the chest were a godsend. Loads of lovely touches including treats (I needed the walks), flowers and coffee. The cottage was exceptionally clean, super comfortable and had everything you could need. Only slight issue was being only 5ft 2 I did struggle with the bedroom mirror but my husband said I looked just fine and I would never argue with him. Might even be tempted to return. We would highly recommend.

  The only downside is that it's located on a very busy main road, no outside space for the dog. Still warrants 10 out of 10 but I think this should be mentioned. Everything else was perfect. Thank you.

• "Lovely little apartment very comfortable, with everything we needed."

  The welcome pack was lovely with lots of little treats,the owner even took into consideration for our dog with his own treats and extra doggie requirements ie dog food,poo bags, and even his very own toy (which he loved). Had we known the building was on a very busy road leading straight onto very narrow footpath. Not great with a dog (not the cottage owners fault). We would have reconsidered our booking. I would recommend the owners to provide a small mop & bucket so that holiday makers can clean the floor from muddy paws. That said we would return as Holmfirth is a beautiful little town.

• "Had an absolutely gorgeous week away."

  The property is just gorgeous with the river running right at the back. everything you need for two people. I loved lying in bed in the morning and listening to the water running past the window. Right in the heart of Holmfirth… visited lots of bars and restaurants, absolutely loved the gig that we went to at the pictuedrome, highly recommended.

  Very clean and everything you might need for a short holiday. A generous welcome pack and the owner was always available for any questions. The town has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants and there are lots of walks nearby for all levels. It's certainly a place you would go back to.

• "The cottage was beautiful well appointed spotlessly clean warm and comfortable."

  Everything was provided for our comfort down to throws for settee the heating was nice and having Netflix a bonus as weather was not great. The bed was zip linked and nice and big with very good quality bedding. Very quirky cottage as you step off street straight into the room then looking out of bedroom window it was three stories high. Would love to return soon

• "A lovely warm welcoming compact accommodation ."

  At first we both thought how small but by the end of second day we loved our little home for 7 days. Perfect for our lovely dog Lacey the uncarpeted floors were a blessing so easy to clean. The best part of the house for me was the bedroom with river right outside flowing fast past our window with the window open a delightful sound to fall asleep to. The bed was very comfortable and big. The bathroom with walk in shower was perfect to as was the colour lighting if you so wished. The vegan treats left by Amanda was soo kind and welcome . It rained most of the time but didn't stop us getting out and about. If you turn left from the house and walk about 1.5 miles you come to the Pickled Pheasant I think it's called serves cake and coffee dogs are welcome and from there many walks. We even ran there and back one day it is uphill all the way but manageable for someone in their late 60s and 70s. We also had several evenings in the winking stag ha I think that was the name just over the road from the house again dogs allowed. The area itself is very busy if you like that sort of thing but doesn't take long to find peace. There is a park very close opposite side of road Victoria Park Lacey loved climbing the steps. All in all a lovely Xmas week great communication with owner Amanda and lots of nice touches in her home. Thank you

  Super comfy bed. Everything we needed was there. We really appreciated that it was made to feel welcome. The busy road did not bother us at the front, completely different at the rear of the property, nice view. Hope to stay again.

• "This is one of the nicest properties we've stopped in with Sykes."

  Amanda's house was clean, comfortable, well laid out and had all that we needed for a perfect week in Holmfirth. There's no parking at the property itself but, after unloading, we used the nearby 'Council offices' car park which costs £2.80 a day via RingGo (location 84130). Lots of shops, bars and restaurants in Holmfirth and a large Co-op supermarket too. On a sunny weekend the cricket club is well worth a visit if there's a game on.

• "Thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to Over-Under Cottage, this time for 5 days with much better weather and Easter treats on arrival for us and Rory our pupster- why thank you Amanda !"

  We even ventured to cook 3 course meals on the days we didn’t eat out - spoilt for choice. During this visit on some days I was also working from ‘Holiday-home’ as it were - the internet connection is fab - bonus ! We discovered how to change the coloured mood lighting against the stone walls in the shower room ! Everything is spotlessly clean but even so the cupboards are well stocked with cleaning products should you need them. What we like about OUC is that you don’t need to pack and bring along all the additional items such as hairdryer, towels, tea towels, tin foil, cooking oil, salt as it’s already there along with a starter pack of tea, coffee, milk and sugar. There’s even a coffee machine with a few complimentary pods. It’s a lovely flat in the centre of Holmfirth- small but perfectly formed (lots of nice touches) so doesn’t take alot of up keep - you can just be - in comfort- wind down - the windows open listening to the flow of the river after a day of walking and visiting the local area. We will be back !

  The apartment was beautifully modernised, very warm and comfortable, and kitted out with virtually everything you could need. It was such a pleasure to return to after each day out! The traffic at the front was occasionally a bit noisy, but having the river at the back to gaze on was a real treat. This is highly recommended holiday accommodation!

  Situated on the Main Street in Holmfirth, backing onto the river (3 tiered property from river, but two from road side) lovely flat, at street level. Everything you could need is to hand from your first cuppa, tea, coffee, milk, dark choc ginger biscuits, on arrival. Kitchen well equipped. In bedroom there’s a hairdryer, selection of coat hangers. High standards, quality fixtures and fittings and lots of lovely little touches from the owner. Amanda has thought of everything ! The welcome treats made for a great evening of Netflix and snacks on the very comfy L shaped settee -then bedroom window open falling asleep listening to the river on a gloriously comfy king size bed. Such a relaxing weekend. It was great to step out and walk around the village - visit the vibrant cafes, and shops etc in the pouring rain lol and return to the flat to cook tea. We enjoyed the fact it is on one level and easy to keep tidy - it really is a find ! Our dog loved it too ! Holmfirth is a fab village and we will definitely be back to stay in Over-under cottage

• "We booked this amazing Apartment last minute as we had a family crisis."

  We were delighted it is fabulous and really deserves its 5 star rating. My husband had lost two of his Uncles within a week of each other and he needed to come home to support his Mum during this very sad time. We didn't get chance to sleep at the apartment but it was heaven to spend some daytime there and have a coffee and relax on the very comfy sofa. We had a basket of treats left for us which was so thoughtful.. This Apartment gave us luxury and peace at our most needy time. it was immaculate and clean. Make sure you open the window at the back of the Apartment and listen to the river flowing underneath it is so relaxing. We know Holmfirth well and highly recommend a holiday here. • "We can not fault this apartment, it is so tastefully fitted out and the quality of workmanship is excellent."

  Amanda the Host is very accommodating and her welcome pack is exceptional!! The apartment is in a good location, we stopped 4 nights and didn't move our car as plenty to do. We did some lovely walks, would recommend the circular one at Digley Reservoir passing Blackpool Bridge, we walked to Digley to start the walk, we wouldn't recommend this if you have a dog as the roads are busy in places but fine once at the Reservoir. The Catch Pub does fantastic Fish and would also recommend the Pickled Pheasant, very friendly staff. Thanks Amanda for sharing your lovely apartment.

  Clearly lots of care had gone in to making sure the cottage was well equipped and the little extras made such a difference - a Netflix account and a little basket of snacks for us and treats left for the dogs kept everyone happy! The bedroom has beautiful views out the window down to river and the bathroom, although compact, had been very well laid out and had a brilliant shower! Cottage was spotlessly clean and the location was great, plenty of options for eating out and just a short walk to the shops meant we never needed to use the car. Although parking isn’t available directly outside the cottage I had no problems parking on the side of the road just past the cottage - there was always a space available.

• "We really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, light, thoughtfully equipped and well-restored cottage."

  The space is small but ideal for two people and it has been really well used so that everything necessary is there. The bed was super comfortable and we loved the crisp white bedding and towels. The kitchen has every facility needed for a holiday stay and the bathroom is very pleasant, we particularly liked the colour change lighting. The river outside the bedroom window was a bonus for us and we very much appreciated the welcome pack of goodies for ourselves and our furry friends. It was great to be right in the heart of things with shopping, food and drinks right outside the door. We had no problems parking a short distance away and were also able to park right outside for loading and unloading the car. Owner communication was spot on too. We will definitely consider another stay here.
