Owners got in touch beforehand with all the details we needed and some food recommendations too, and the welcome food pack was a nice touch.

  • "We have had a lovely confortable stay at West Deyne."

We found the property to be extremely clean and well maintained (and we left it the same). The owners, although we didn't see them were in touch and were accommodating. They kindly left us milk in the fridge and a basket of Scottish treats which was a lovely touch. We would certainly recommend this property and if we decide to go to Scotland again we would most certainly stay here. Thank you Geoff and Clare x

Cottage had everything you needed except a ice bucket. The second toilet came in handy at times.

  • "Very spacious and clean."

. On the down side one of the bedrooms had no hanging space. Having said that there were plenty hooks in the cloakroom. The house got quite cool in the evenings but the gas fire in the lounge was not in use. Loads of general cupboard space off the hallway. The only complaint we had was there were only 4 dishwashing tablets available for 7 days. It wasn’t a big issue and we didn’t notify the owner. Nice private garden - grass cut but borders neglected. House well located for shops and prom.

  • "The warning about the step from the kitchen was noted but still was a problem early on."

We placed a chair at the door to remind us of the hazard. Generally for Sykes we did find the use of grey scale instead of black printing on property details a source of frustration. Difficult to read on line and impossible when printed off.

We found the flat to be extremely comfortable and to have everything we needed. Beds and sofas were good quality and the kitchen and bathroom were very well equipped. We ate in sometimes but it was easy to walk out to nice places which we did some evenings. We would have no hesitation in booking this flat again.

The welcome pack and card left for us was a very kind and welcoming gesture by the owners. The only issue during our stay was being unable to turn on the heating when it became a bit chilly in the evenings. Apart from that our stay was excellent. Thank you.

  • "My husband and I stayed in West Deyne last week and we enjoyed everything about it."

We live in the countryside so the position of West Deyne, just a walk away from Broughty Ferry's impressive shops and a step away from the sea was a lovely change for us.( It was also amazingly quiet). The house itself is spacious, very clean, beautifully decorated and the owners have obviously given a great deal of thought into providing everything which their guests could possibly need. My sister came to spend a few nights with us and she, like me, was impressed by the quality of the pillows and duvets. We went into neighbouring Dundee on 2 occasions to visit the V&A and the McManus Galleries museum and opted to travel by train and bus to avoid spending time looking for parking. Train station and bus stop are just a few minutes walk from West Deyne. This property has everything to recommend it not least the owners who provided a wonderful welcome pack for us and who made it very simple for me to retrieve something I had left behind. All in all West Deyne was a 5 star experience. Elizabeth Smyth.

About the location

BROUGHTY FERRY

Dundee 4 miles.

Broughty Ferry is a suburb four miles east of Dundee with a good selection of pubs and restaurants. Broughty Castle and Museum, right by the seashore is well worth a visit, established in the 15th-century to protect the estuary, its four floors now house local-history exhibits, covering the story of Broughty Ferry as a fishing village. Just north of Broughty Ferry, at the junction of the A92 and B978, the chunky bricks of Claypotts Castle constitute one of Scotland's most complete Z-shaped tower houses. Take a break in Dundee or Broughty Ferry and be ideally placed for touring, with the best of all worlds right at your feet. Scotland's main cities - Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen - are all easily accessible by rail or road. The Angus Glens can be found a stone's throw away, offering hillside and lochs. Championship golf courses are within easy reach, with Carnoustie and St. Andrews both a short drive away.
