  • "Holly birch at Caledonian Lodges was just beautiful."

From the moment we walked in it felt spacious, clean and the views were spectacular. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and even some goodies for the dog too. Great access to walks and places to visit. Will definitely be back.

  • "The lodge was in a beautiful location with amazing views."

The site was in a very peaceful location and well maintained, albeit it is still being developed. Holly Birch was very clean and well equipped. We had a couple of issues which were reported direct to the owner. The shower in the main bathroom did not drain away properly. The guttering over the kitchen window needs repairing, the patio doors did not shut properly. And the wi-fi was very poor. But the main thing was the bed - a new mattress is definitely required to enjoy a good nights sleep !!

Thank you for your feedback. We're between a rock and a hard place with this mattress question. You are the only the second people of the all the visitors that we've had stay, to make this comment. I've made it my business since, to ask everybody how they find the bed, as I decide whether or not to replace it. They all find it very comfortable! Even to the point of commenting upon it, unsolicited, in the guest book. I think maybe a mattress topper might be the compromise. If I replace this (very new) mattress, will there always be somebody who finds the next one uncomfortable too? It's such a personal thing. I'm sorry it spoiled your holiday. Your feedback re the structural glitches was helpful, thank you, and they have been repaired. Property Owner

  • "A really well equipped holiday home, it was very clean & well presented."

We got great weather so sat out on the patio area a lot, it had a nice cool shady area too at the side, which our dog loved! Lots of beautiful walks right from the door, a couple of nice restaurants in the village about 15 mins walk which was great in the evenings. We will definitely be back!

But once again we would like to thank the owner for a beautiful lodge and to have a beautiful holiday that we did. Thank you again. Alan Docker.

  • "This was an exceptional lodge."

Modern, clean and fully furnished with everything we could need during our stay. Elevated by discovering a welcome pack upon arrival filled with local artisan products that were very well received. The lodge is located in a lovely village and positioned perfectly to capture the stunning panoramic view of the mountainous landscape it nestles within. Plenty of walking options accessible straight from the site which we and our dog took full advantage of.

  • "A very comfortable, well maintained, well equipped, holiday home, with a stunning view."

The only local shop has everything you might need, and the local golf club warmly welcomes visitors, serving food and drink in a very pretty setting. We found the location well positioned to access many places of interest within the Loch Lomand national park.

  • "The property and furnishings are superb and Iona's attention to detail in welcoming new arrivals was outstanding, with artisan and locally sourced goodies awaiting upon our arrival and even goodies for our dogs."

The lodge was immaculate and cosy, with absolutely stunning views. I could not fault the lodge, its spec, the location, the exceedingly thoughtful gestures provided by the owners and the helpful information provided by the owners. Only recommendations I could suggest is purely for guests who would book longer next time (like me), would be: a dog gate, just to ensure the dogs are secure and fellow site users have their space respected too. A wellie and umbrella port outside (purely to keep the already beautiful lodge as dry and clean as possible, with a little more ease). A washing machine/dryer would be a nice to have, particularly if booking in autumn/winter seasons (which we plan to do), and a hot tub would be the cherry on top of an already awesome cake! This location was probably the best location I've booked so far that has ideal dog walking spots, where you're not having to worry about infringing on someone's land or bothering sheep and cattle. Its postion in the central belt of Scotland was ideal for venturing the castles, lochs, palaces, villages, cities and towns and the local watersports was a huge hit with the kids! If you like wildlife practicallyon your doorstep, be it red squirrels, birds of prey or roaming deer, this is nirvana! Site staff are lovely and very helpful too. I will be returning to Hollybirch, which I feel is the most sincere recommendation a guest can give. Huge thank you to Iona and Philip for making our stay absolute bliss!

  • "We had a wonderful time at the lodge."

It was very well equipped and the views were outstanding. One very small thing that would have been handy is a gate or barrier on the deck / walkway ramp for our dog - not a huge problem though. We will absolutely recommend Holybirch to friends and family and we will try to return soon. Thank you again.

  • "The listing of the property was generally accurate, however, we feel that it should have been mentioned that the site as a whole was still under construction."

The views from the rear decking of the lodge were outstanding in fine weather but that was offset when leaving the property of an unfinished lodge, unconnected pipework and building supplies strewn around the place. The initial drive into the site when full of excitement for a week ahead and then to be met by a rusty dumper truck, metal fencing and an unfinished building site were quite a shock. This was not what we were expecting and having stayed in previous Sykes locations we would expect better. In summary, the property was good but the site itself is in need of some improvement.

  • "The lodge was beautiful with fantastic views over the hills from the decking area at the front of the lodge."

The site was very quiet and peaceful with easy access to the traffic free walking into St Fillans. The lodge was spotlessly clean with all the cooking utensils you could need. The host also provided a welcome pack with produce from the local area which was really nice. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

  • "We had a wonderful week staying in Hollybirch."

The views are superb no matter the weather. The lodge is comfortable, very clean and has all the facilities and quality equipment needed, in fact the best we have had. The village is welcoming. Especially Liam at the Village shop. Comrie is only 10 minutes drive and has a very good craft butcher and deli. As mentioned in previous reviews the site is not quite finished but nearly there and the small amount of noise in the day didn’t detract from our enjoyment.

The owner was lovely and very helpful when we asked for advice. As mentioned in a previous review the site is still under development but there was no building work while we were there and you don't even see the site when you are in the lodge. It is a small quiet site, which was perfect for us. Very peaceful. Many great walks in the area, and very central location for visiting other areas. We really enjoyed staying here.
