Hollybank Barn is a beautiful barn conversion set in the tranquil location of Gattonside near Melrose.

With countryside surroundings close to local walks, shops, pubs, and eateries, this characterful abode is ideal for a couple, friends, or families seeking a retreat to the Scottish Borders.

Melrose is around a 20-minute walk (just under 1.5 miles) or a 10-minute drive away, while the River Tweed lies about half a mile from the barn and St Boswells is approximately seven miles away.

Park up and take in the beautiful exterior of this renovated coach house, with a backdrop of mature trees and birdsong, discovering a seating area for morning coffee.

Once inside, there is a sitting room for movie nights, as well as a contemporary kitchen/diner with a good selection of amenities, great for cooking up a storm and enjoying a meal together.

There is also a handy shower room and utility on this level.

On the first floor, the stairs open into a light and airy snug, from which you will find two well-presented bedrooms: a king-size and a twin, serviced by a bathroom.

Gattonside is a lovely riverside village within easy reach of Melrose and its many amenities, including shops, pubs, eateries, Melrose Abbey and the Trimontium Museum.

The village itself also has two restaurants, Seasons and The Hoebridge.

Further afield, Edinburgh is around an hour away by train on a scenic line, with free parking available just five minutes from the station.

The East Lothian coast is about an hour by car, while the Northumberland coast is around 90 minutes away.

Excellent local walking is available nearby, with the Eildon Hills (plural) close at hand, and the more challenging Cheviot Hills about an hour away.

Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Floors Castle in Kelso, Traquair House in Innerleithen, and Bowhill House in Selkirk.

The area also has a strong crafts tradition, with Hawick’s famous mill shops around 20 miles away.
