  • "Easy to find and a great location for walks."

The driveway is a little tricky but just take it slowly. Or leave the car on the drive and walk or take the bus (only £2 til the end of the year). Clean and good basic facilities. A baking sheet would have been useful. Very comfortable bed (I slept really well from night one). I found the sofa comfy enough, but I do prefer a firm chair - and I took a throw as I'm not keen on leather. The weather wasn't great so Sky was a welcome distraction! Good water pressure in the shower but if you like to luxuriate under the water then you'll probably need to put the boost on for extra hot water. The rear "courtyard" is only 1 paving slab wide. It's probably lovely in the summer evenings (it's west facing) but wasn't much use to us, and there is no real view. The garden is across the driveway to all the cottages and not enclosed so unfortunately not a safe place to let a dog out. Luckily I'm not shy about going out in my PJs.

  • "This property is just one of the most pleasant places."

We had a lovely stay, it’s quiet quaint and situated down a very narrow lane! But don’t let that put you off. It’s pretty central to all destinations like Minehead, and Dunster! Minehead is just 6 minutes in a car, and you will need a car as there isn’t much to do in Carhampton. I would defo go back for a stay in this wonderful cottage!

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage in a great location for exploring all the delights of the area."

It was clean, well equipped, good shower and bed and very peaceful. We had a wonderful week exploring Dunster Castle, Lynmouth and Lyndon, Wells, Glastonbury, steam railway and Porlock amongst the highlights. A week wasn’t enough! Also some nice restaurants around. Luttrell Arms really good but you need to book, also Reeves was excellent for a special last evening treat, and they accept dogs, indeed they made our little one very welcome. Driftwood Cafe is gorgeous on a sunny morning for breakfast.

  • "Had a fantastic time at spaniel cottage it had everything you would need for a lovely holiday, Some really lovely walks from the front door."

Sykes need to update their website as it was still stating a shop and pub in the village a couple of days before we went but these are both now closed it would have been nice to call in the pub for a meal a few nights but this didn’t take away from our enjoyment

  • "We had a fabulous week here & the cottage was spotless & well presented ."

The bed was very cosy the facilities were spot on . Titch out 15yr old Cairn was at home here although he’s quite poorly & we are taking each day at a time he was ok but not much walking . It was just the little road that was awkward as we have a big car , but we managed it ok in the end ! It was a job to find as it just says Private Rd . Loved the village sports ground but sad that shop & pub were now gone , but we knew that anyway . Good holiday

Thank you for your feedback. We are very pleased you and Titch enjoyed your stay at Spaniel Cottage. We will add some notes for guests regarding the Private Road sign. As you quite rightly point out, it isn't obvious that Spaniel Cottage is down the lane that has a sign saying Private Road. Thank you for making the point, it is much appreciated and very helpful. • "Whilst the property itself was fantastic the entrance and exit road to the property was very tricky and this wasn't emphasised in the description of the property by Sykes."

Also Sykes website regarding the village of Carhampton needs to be updated as Post Office/Village store has been closed for two years and local pub has been shut since Christmas so effectively no amenities in the village.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We're very pleased to hear you liked Spaniel Cottage so much. It's a real shame the Butchers Arms has closed but it was only in the last few weeks and Sykes have updated the listing regarding that and the shop. We hope the pub will have a new publican soon so our guests can enjoy it again. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Spaniel Cottage lots of nice places to visit and explore."

As regards the cottage its self the two piece suite was very uncomfortable, everything else was fine. One problem however was exiting onto the very busy main road (A39), especially from the drivers side. Trevor.

We're very pleased to read you enjoyed Spaniel Cottage and all that it has to offer including it's location and cleanliness. The seating comfort element is difficult to cater for everyone’s preferences, some like firmer and some softer but we are also restricted in choice due to getting furniture in through the cottage door and round corners. Sorry the suite was not to your preference. We are set back off the coastal road which adds to the peace, quiet and ambience of Spaniel Cottage. However, that does mean guests have to go back out onto the coastal road rather than being on it already. We hope guests find it a positive to have the peace and quiet but with quick access back to the coastal road leading to all the villages, beaches, walks and other amenities. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay overall. Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Had a wonderful week at Spaniel cottage."

Comfortable, peaceful and well equipped. Slept the best we have in ages, very relaxing. So much to see and do in the area, great for walking. Could have easily stayed another week.

Thank you for you for taking the time to give us such lovely feed back. We're very pleased you enjoyed Spaniel Cottage and all that it has to offer. It's such a beautiful area with so many great walks and villages to visit. It’s so nice to hear that Spaniel Cottage provides a good base for all that exploring. Property Owner

  • "Quaint cottage, comfy beds, fab shower, however the faux leather sofa and ONE chair were cold and uncomfortable."

We should point out that there was no freezer. Visitors should be made aware that parking and access was very awkward and the exit from the driveway is directly on to A39 with restricted visibility.

Thank you for taking the time to review Spaniel Cottage. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and quaintness so it’s great to hear you enjoyed that along with the comfortable beds and power shower. We opted for the faux leather sofa and chairs to ensure guests receive a clean and sanitised seating area. We appreciate that the feel is not to everyone’s taste and so we provide throws for those who aren’t keen on the feel of the faux leather. The cottage size doors mean we aren’t able to get a bigger suite in. The comfort element is difficult to cater for everyone’s preferences in terms of softer or harder seating. We’re sorry it wasn’t to your preference. We take your comments on board and will continue to monitor reviews and the guest book. There is a freezer at the property. We’re sorry you weren’t able to locate it. Our manager is always at the ready to help with any issues. We haven’t been made aware that our parking area isn’t to guests liking and so we’re really sorry you didn’t enjoy that part of the cottage experience. We are set back off the coastal road which adds to the quietness and ambience of our little hidden gem. However, that does mean guests have to go back out onto the coastal road rather than being on it already. We had hoped it was a positive to have parking and peace but with quick access back to the coastal road leading to all the villages, beaches, walks and other amenities. We're sorry you didn't find that to be the case for you. Thank you again. Your feedback is valuable to us to ensure we can continually improve our guests experience where possible. Property Owner
