  • "We loved our stay and the location is very convenient for getting out and about I south Wales."

Our hosts were very kind and helpful and the location whilst very close to the motorway was ideal for walking our dog. The cottage was very clean and high quality. We did struggle a little with the modern cooker and oven to start with but soon got our heads around it. Our welcome gift was much appreciated and our dog loved the bed and feeding bowls provided

Thanks for your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Please contact me directly if you would like to stay again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is located down a quiet street looking on to fields and a park but is still conveniently close to Cardiff and tourist destinations."

The owners kindly gave us their driveway to use for the duration of our stay, this might be a struggle for a larger car as our hatchback had to do a few attempts each morning to clear the brambles when pulling away. The accommodation has all you need and mostly matches the pictures, however, we personally found the decor in the bedroom particularly dated with old prams, dolls and the mattress sunken in the middle. The rest of the property was fine, the bathroom particularly nice, and the owners were very polite to greet us and offer tips on where to visit when we arrived. Just to make other dog owners aware that the closest patch of grass is the park opposite but this is so close it didn't hinder us at all

Thank you for your feedback. I would like to say that the bedroom was decorated last October and a new bed purchased. We try to keep the period of the cottage which may not be to everyone's taste. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is located in a suburb of Cardiff and is very well situated for numerous excursions in the region."

Shirley and Rob had prepared everything wonderfully - even for our dog - and we wanted for nothing. It was a very lovely few days we spent at the cottage. Many thanks to Shirley and Rob for their kind care and support, we can highly recommend the stay.

Thank you both so much for your kind review. We loved meeting you and also your lovely dog Gina. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay here. Hope you also enjoyed the remainder of your holiday in the north and had a safe trip home. If you come to Wales again, we would love to accommodate you again. It's also lovely for us to have sure nice guests. Thank you! Property Owner

  • "We found the accommodation ideal, and the attentiveness of the property owners exceptional."

The cooking gadgets were challenging for us elderly people, but the booklets supplied were clear. Car parking on site would be tight for larger cars, but available less than a hundred yards away. Tongwynlais is not wonderful, but there is plenty of interest in the region. We definitely hope to return.

  • "A delightful little cottage."

Very tidy, the decor was varied and interesting. A lovely place to stay with a dog as walking was literally on your doorstep. We followed the Taff trail towards Cardiff, a lovely walk. We also walked in the opposite direction to Morganstown and had lunch at a lovely pub there, also dog friendly.

Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay and made the most of t g e area. Property Owner

  • "Cannot recommend this property enough."

We had the most wonderful time at Fox Pie Cottage. Shirley and Rob are lovely hosts extremely welcoming and at hand if needed. It was a god send to find this property as we had a weeks notice to move out for works to be undertaken at our home. I was worried we would struggle to find somewhere with 2 dogs. When I saw this property which allowed us to take the dogs I was so relieved. The only down side for us was it was a working trip so didn't get the chance to really enjoy the surroundings to full potential. We will definately be back again to enjoy to the full potential.

It was really nice to meet you & the dogs. So pleased we could help with it being a last minute booking. Hope all was well when you got home. We would love to welcome you back when you could enjoy a break yourself and hopefully enjoy better weather. Property Owner

Great location just on the outskirts of the city. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. Lots of nice little touches throughout the cottage and all scrupulously clean. We took our two dogs and lots of walking options from the doorstep. Pub in walking distance. A really lovely stay - highly recommended

  • "This delightful cottage is a home from home."

Shirley and Rob provide a brilliant welcome and whilst being unobtrusive are always available to advise or assist in any way they can. The cottage is spotlessly clean, tastefully frurnished, dog friendly and has a really well equipped kitchen. The location is excellent with a rural aspect yet an easy walk to the village shop, local pub and even a chip shop. The more adventurous can take a ten minute walk through the woods to a Mcdonalds and a large ASDA supermarket. Step outside the front door and you are on the Taff Trail; unmissable for cyclists, joggers, dog walkers or country ramblers. Finally, Castell Coch, which can be seen from the rear window is about a mile away, a fairly easy walk through the village, just beware the final hilly castle drive way. Shirley recommended the Tynant Tavern which can be reached by a foot path with a spellbinding view of Castell Coch from the footbridge across the river. The drive to the pub is little more than a mile, and well worth a visit: in the week that we spent in this idyllic cottage we had dinner at this dog friendly pub three times!! I can't really do this beautiful cottage justice with my rambling writing so go and visit for yourself - you won't be disappointed

It was lovely to meet you and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for taking the time to write such amazing & comprehensive feedback, we really appreciate it. You were a delightful guest and we hope you will stay again sometime. Property Owner

  • "Loch Field Cottage (Fox Pie Cottage) is idyllic."

We were looking for a getaway over new year and that’s exactly what we found from both the property and the welcome. Fox Pie Cottage is truly dog friendly and provides all the things your pooch pal needs to enjoy their stay too. Bob and Shirley are lovely and have thought of everything. Even though the accommodation is attached to their home, they were totally unobtrusive and left us to use the cottage as a home from home. It is conveniently located right off the M4, but the cottage itself is so well sound-proofed you’d have no idea! The surrounding area is lovely and the walk up to Castell Coch is well worth the effort! Only comment would be it takes a little time to find -ignore the pin in the map on the Sykes website that takes you to the fork on Iron Bridge Road. Keep going down the road and under the bridge (even though it looks as though it might be a dead end), and Loch Field Cottage is on your right. A wonderful property awaits!

Thank you for your really lovely feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback. It was wonderful to meet you both and your amazing dog, Tank. I hope you had a safe trip home and would love to welcome you back in the future. Rob & Shirley Property Owner
