The property

The Flat House is a pleasant first-floor apartment in Taunton, Somerset.

Offering lovely views and a setting that suits families and friends looking to spend time close to Exmoor National Park.

When you arrive at The Flat House, you can park roadside before entering the door and climbing the stairs that lead up to this first floor apartment.

As you reach the top, the building reveals subtle hints of its past as part of the old packers music shop, offering a quiet thread of history running through its character.

Push open the door and make your way along the hallway where the first room you encounter is the impressively large bathroom, a bright and spacious place to refresh after your journey.

Run a deep bath or step beneath the shower as warm water eases you into holiday mode.

Continue along the hall and you will find the bedrooms.

The double bedroom is large, giving you room to unpack and settle into your own restful corner of the apartment.

The twin bedroom features an original built in wardrobe, a charming detail that nods to the building’s history while adding practical storage space.

Both rooms offer welcoming places to begin and end each day.

From here, step into the generous kitchen, where wooden countertops create warmth and a pleasant atmosphere as you move around.

As you walk across the smooth flooring, you can place groceries along the spacious surfaces, fill the kettle for a warm drink, or let the electric oven and gas hob come to life as you prepare supper.

Morning light often reaches into this room, making it a natural gathering point before heading out.

The kitchen leads on to the triple aspect living and dining area, where the soft carpet underfoot and the TV in the corner create an inviting space to spend your evenings.

Pull out a chair at the dining table for unhurried meals or settle into a seat as the light from three directions fills the room.

The sense of openness adds to the already generous proportions of this first floor apartment, making it easy to unwind after a day exploring Somerset.

When the weather calls for time outdoors, return to the huge sun terrace, a standout feature where you can sit with a drink, take in the surroundings, or start your morning in the fresh air.

The property sits opposite local pubs and shops, making everyday essentials and friendly refreshments close at hand, while the motorway and coastline are within easy reach for days out.

Exmoor National Park lies within an hour and offers wide open moorland, wildlife-filled valleys, and ever-changing views that shift with the light.

Walk winding trails, pause beside streams, or stand atop high ridges where the landscape rolls out in every direction.

Bridgwater adds its own charm with heritage-lined streets, river walks where boats drift quietly by, and glimpses into Somerset’s past.

Tiverton offers scenic canal paths where horse-drawn barges move steadily along the water, leafy corners perfect for wandering, and a striking castle that brings centuries of local history into view.

Make memories at The Flat House, a lovely base for discovering this part of the West Country.
