“Spring Garden Cottage surpasssed our expectations immediately , especially since it was so reasonably priced for the location.”

As we walked through the door we were absolutely delighted at the cosy creation of a home from home. The cottage provides ample space for a couple or a smaller family , It has been restored to a good standard yet retains its old charming charactor . We were thrilled to find the log burner for our long weekend in March, although we were blessed with sunny days , the nights were chilly, but the cosy fire warmed the whole cottage perfectly. It made our weekend easier to find the logs, firelighters and sticks then place some cash in the jar provided. This additional touch was much appreciated. The owners have thought of all the important things , wi fi was available and fast , CD player , TV in every room, towels etc , even down to the little salt and pepper pot and tea towels , in case anyone forgets their own. Enough Crockery and cooking utensils , we found everything we needed. The bedrooms and bed was comfy and the bedding was clean and fresh. The general cleanliness was spotless throughout. We enjoyed the artwork in the house and a read at one of the old books. The views of the daffodils and snow drops on the bank opposite was a sweet sight to awake to , primulas and other bushes out of the kitchen side , then a lovely private view of the garden from the lounge with blue bells about to flower soon. Outside, we found a perfectly proportioned garden and patio area with seating. Our little dog explored safely and we enjoyed watching the variety of birds close by the window feeding on the nuts. There is a an additional seating area for the later sun in the garden and a BBQ and table tennis table to erect if required. The private car port outside the back gate was very handy too. The location is literally a stone throw from the centre monument, a little area with pubs, resteraunts and shops who made us welcome, There was a takeaway but we didnt use it. Opposite to these, a pretty bridge over the river Taf to the path which winds around the castle and provides the beautiful views over the sea. A 5 minute strol from the cottage around this path you will find Dylans cabin and the boat house. We took a short drive to Pendine Sands for a good beach walk , which makes a nice choice for a sunny day. But Laugharne always felt like a welcome home again. This was a short breack for us before our Wedding in May and so much appreciated break from planning and working. We are checking our diaries for the summer , when we will stay again but for longer in Spring Garden Cottage. There is no question about that! Thankyou for making this return to laugharne after 42 years a delightful and comfortable one . Debra, Phil and Maggie--may x

Laugharne, with its majestic castle standing on a low ridge overlooking the wide Taf River Estuary, is famous for its associations with the poet Dylan Thomas, and a visit to his Boat House and the writing shed where he wrote most of his works is a wonderful experience. Beautiful walks in and around the castle, with breathtaking views of the estuary, can be followed by cream teas in quaint little tea rooms, a drink in the local pub or shopping in the gift shops and mini market. The nearby sandy beach at Pendine is where many land speed records have been famously set on its seven mile stretch of beautiful flat sand, and a little further afield are the seaside resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot.
