  • "The Queen Bee has potential to be great but as it stands, it just wasn’t for me."

The Sykes description is misleading and needs to clearly state that the parking is not outside the property. When this was queried on arrival, the owner seemed smug to advise that ‘it is detailed on the website’… yes it is, but it’s they’ve tried to cleverly write it so it’s not clear to guests! I’d driven 4.5 hours and had many bags of groceries (in addition to luggage) so this wasn’t appreciated. Thankfully I’m able bodied but a future guest may not be and an access statement needs to be provided with this information prior to arrival. The hut itself was fine, other than a few housekeeping issues… dirty windows, unclean glassware and shower screen and a fire full of ash that hadn’t been emptied on arrival. The patio furniture was rusty so I didn’t use it. A quarter of a toilet roll was provided and enough washing up liquid to wash one lot of dishes. No hand soap in the kitchen. No toilet brush, kitchen cleaning spray or bleach were provided. I stay in glamping places regularly (10-12 times a year) and this is the least equipped place I have stayed. All have previously provided basic cleaning equipment for the duration of the stay and the majority also provide a welcome pack (even if just milk) on arrival, although lots go the extra mile and provide extras. Basic facilities are lacking. There is no dish drainer and nowhere to hang clothes - other than the back of the kitchen door but given there is no extractor fan, all my clothes smelt of cooking, The curtains on the patio doors didn’t close and the bedroom window overlooks the main house and playing field outside so had to keep the blind closed pretty much all the time. To summarise, the Queen Bee was a big disappointment. The location was great and that was its only positive. In truth, I think the owners attitude on arrival was always going to have me riled and looking for faults but in reality, I didn’t need to look hard. Will seriously doubt booking through Sykes again!

  • "Gorgeous shepherd hut, extremely comfortable, and the football/ animals were an additional bonus."

It was extremely kind of one of the owners to let us plug in our car to the outside electrical socket too!

  • "I stayed here for 2 nights in August with my dog and it is absolutely lovely."

The fixtures and fittings in the cabin have been finished to a high standard, it’s got everything you can need and the bed is extra comfy! The log burner is a great touch and the bathroom is very high spec too. Outside is a peaceful scene, I sat on the decking and read a book, you could hear a pin drop! Carly the host is lovely too and genuinely cares about the quality of your stay. The location of the cabin is excellent to explore places like Blue Lagoon and Green Bridge of Wales and the many many gorgeous beaches around the area. Highly recommended, 10/10. Thank you.
