  • "We had a lovely time at Briar Cottage."

The kitchen was well equipped and we particularly appreciated the coffee cafetierre and percolator. A great shower, comfortable sofa and lovely to have a log burner.

Many thanks for your kind review of Briar Cottage. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the cottage as much as we do. Hopefully you’ll visit again as there’s so much to see and explore in Pembrokeshire. Property Owner

  • "I love this cottage."

Secluded and surrounded by nature, this quiet cosy though spacious semidetached cottage is ideal for a relaxing holiday. Just a couple of things to note.. The grassed garden at the back is accessed by some steep steps (I always took my dog up to the grassed area on a lead so can't comment if the garden is secure for dogs off lead). The stairs to the bedrooms are a little steep and the only bathroom is on the ground floor..that saying, this is the 2nd time myself and my dog have stayed in this lovely cottage and we would happily stay yet again !

Thank you so much for your kind review of your stay at Briar Cottage. I’m so glad you enjoyed the cottage as much as we do and pleased that you’d like to visit again - puffin season on Skomer Island is magical! Property Owner

  • "We had a pleasant stay at Briar Cottage."

Lots of pluses but some minuses too... Positives: wonderfully quiet with no passing traffic or people, lots of birds (take birdfood!), clean, well-equipped, plentiful hot water, cosy, great location for South Pembrokeshire, pleasant front patio for sitting out, lots of DVDs and games, efficient and easy-use shower, nice to have choice of winter or summer duvets, lovely comfortable pillows. Negatives: no welcome pack - not even milk, mattresses in both rooms are NOT comfortable - very springy and boingy (mattress toppers needed!) and single bed needs tightening up, there isn't enough sitting space to watch TV for four adults, back garden needs TLC and it isn't secure for dog (we were aware of this upon booking and wasn't an issue for us but it should be clear to potential guests) - a gate at side of house would be easy enough to do, there is no hanging space in bedrooms - we had to use the boiler room which wasn't ideal, surprisingly we could hear the neighbours TV through the wall. Would we book again? Yes, based on price and location.

Many thanks for your review of your stay at Briar Cottage. We have taken on board your comments and hope to see you again at Briar Cottage. Property Owner

  • "A lovely house in a quiet, relaxing location."

The garden is not enclosed and needs a gate but it is so quiet if you have a dog that doesn’t wander it is fine. Definitely need a car as quite secluded which suited us. It is well equipped but a dishwasher would be beneficial and the double bed has a wooden end panel so no where to sit to get changed as too close to wall on one side. A bed with no end panel would be better. These are little things and did not spoil our holiday. The Ferry Inn, the Jolly Sailor and The Bar at the marina were all good places to eat. Our favourite beach was freshwater west. Surfing lessons there were great. The people at the museum in Milford Haven were really welcoming. We will definitely visit the area again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Thank you for your kind review of Briar Cottage. Your helpful comments have been noted and moving forward we have a few improvements to make. I’m glad you managed to explore so many of the wonderful places, experiences and attractions in Pembrokeshire. Fresh West is a beautiful beach and one of our favourites. Property Owner

  • "Briar Cottage is in a lived location- very Beatrix Potter."

It as an old cottage that has been updated. Finding it wasn’t that difficult and it’s very quiet and no street lighting to ruin the night sky. Our biggest issue was the poor cleaning of the property. We noticed that this has been an issue in the past. The beds are comfortable and linen etc very clean. An issue with a stain on the duvet wasn’t discovered until we we’re removing the bed linen as requested in the house book. The headroom in the bedrooms is very limited. This was a lit more limited than I thought as in their photos. I whacked my head on the beam whilst going to the loo in the dark. If you’re tall you will be bending over all the time up there. It also means that the ability to use bedroom space is very limited and essentially it’s usable in the central areas only. Maintenance of the property is poor. Black gaffa tape holding the bathroom door lock place and paintwork not finished on a door frame are not major jobs- just didn’t care it seems? The furniture is something from a boot sale - charity shops would not sell it. The exception being the sofa and armchair. It gives the feeling that it’s been furnished on the cheap, or that the owner takes it for granted that it’s “cottagy” - well it’s not. Log fire was lovely and cosy. The tv is too small for the size of room. Those needing subtitles won’t see writing we understand that you don’t go to a cottage to watch tv, but when it rains and night time it’s good to be able to watch a movie in comfort. There was no ironing board or dishwasher which we thought very odd. All told the potential here is amazing, but for some reason the owners choose not to update. Outside, accessibility isn’t too bad. One of us uses a walking stick. The rear wasn’t accessible but the front was no problem and got the sunshine. For dogs, a gate on the rear garden would make it more secure for dogs. Walking paths and bridle paths abound with high handles on gates for riders. The ferry inn was a great find and there’s plenty of places to eat around and about. We’ve stayed in plenty of places all around the uk and abroad. We try to be fair in our reviews and to highlight those owners who really try to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance is of a good standard. It’s only fair to them to make a comment when something is below standard. But, it’s all fixable within a very short period of time- If you don’t mind the headroom it’s a brilliant location to discover the area and very quiet when you return.

Thank you for your review and very thorough feedback, it’s always useful to receive feedback from guests so that moving forward we can make improvements. I’m so sorry that your holiday at Briar Cottage was spoilt by so many issues that you were unhappy with. I understand that the cleaners had offered to visit the cottage to rectify the cleaning issues you highlighted but you declined their offer. Moving forward we have made a note of your suggestions and have added them onto the cottage ‘To Do’ list to action ASAP. Property Owner

  • "Property very nice."

Very clean. Very relaxing place - love that no clocks so not focusing on time- just focusing on your holiday. Only worrying factors were that the toilet broke the day before we were going home. Contacted the recommended person to contact if a problem - messaged x2 via phone and email to inform them. Received a email 14 hours later reporting they will deal with the issue - however we were on our way home by then anyway . The garden- beautiful. Only problem was lots of nettles and overgrowing ferns in the hedges in the garden so spoilt some of the views or clothes caught on the ferns on the garden path going into the house every time as overgrown

Thank you for your review. I was sorry to hear the you had an issue during your stay that needed attention and that you struggled to get a response from the company who manage the cottage to resolve this issue. Since this company have been managing the cottage they have been very prompt in responding to any issues our guests might have during their stay but I’ve been in touch with them and we are obviously hoping that this is an isolated incident. Main living area was larger than it looks in photo and bedrooms very comfy just mind your head on the beams. Loved that it had an room to dry of wet boots and clothes. Very dog friendly too. Any little thing was no instructions about the rubbish and if needed to sort out the recycling so we took those bits home with us.

Thank you for your kind review & I’m glad you had an enjoyable stay at Briar. I’ll make sure that there are clear instructions at the cottage for future guests re: recycling and refuse. Property Owner

  • "Very welcoming, cottage-style accommodation having mature leafy gardens set in various levels, surrounded by fields and forests, gloriously ten minutes by car from Neyland’s picturesque waterside, smaller shops, bars and restaurants."

Very attractive bedrooms with warm blankets and cushions offering a modern yet country level of style and comfort. Books for all ages, DVDs and board games offer the ‘family home’ feel, with maps and information box to guide you around the area. We left our own suggestion of a delicious eatery which gladly delivers! We didn’t have the weather for the garden furniture but the two patios offer welcome spaces for morning and evening sunshine. Some unfenced steep drops so upper garden unsuitable for younger children without supervision. Also slate floors and open stairs inside so unsuitable for toddlers or just about to walk-ers. Super warm oil central heating and wood burning stove; a small quantity of kindling and logs supplied, with papers and matches. You will need to bring your own logs for a longer stay, available from garages on your way into town. Well worth it if you’d like the atmosphere but snug even without. Plenty of bath and hand towels, pillows, spare bedding and cushions. Single tea towel, jay cloth and washing up sponge supplied. Hand soaps and washing up liquid. No kitchen spray* or cif type product found to enable that hygienic finish after meals. *I wouldn’t usually pack those. Usual be ushes, dustpan and brush and vacuum cleaner available plus hair dryer and travel iron in bedroom drawers. Clothes airer and washing machine. Boiler room with space to dry. Sufficient crockery, glasses, cutlery and saucepans etc. for the majority of holiday self-catering needs. Very good extractor fan and fan oven, microwave, kettle and toaster. Very small, less recent fridge freezer. No dishwasher. We would recommend this accommodation for a small family or couple having a car to travel around. Bring all your essentials. **Easier to find from seafront direction on your first try!**

Many thanks for your kind review. Hope you have better weather if you visit Briar Cottage again. Property Owner

Warm and cosy. Quiet and peaceful and secluded. Loved the garden. Loved the Xmas tree and decorations, not too much but just enough. Comfy sofa. Comfy bed. Big deep bath. Gorgeous warm wool blankets dotted around, which looked so nice. Everything worked and we had a super chilled week. Very reasonably priced and such a great place to stay in Pembroke. Different dog walking beach every day. The dog enjoyed her stay as much as we did! Happy Christmas.

  • "A very good accommodation."

We visited in December and not great weather. The cottage was easy to heat. Lots of space and all very clean. The lounge rug is a little shabby and the garden was untidy...being two gardeners that was something we'd notice but in general it was a perfect get away location.

Thank you for your kind review and I’m glad you enjoyed your stay at Briar Cottage. With regards to the rug that will now be given a deep clean and the garden is going to have a good tidy. Property Owner

Ideally situated to tour the area and link up with my friends in Neyland. Entry to the back garden was via a few steep steps and the mainly grassed gaden was perfect for my dog. Being able to park the car next to the entrance is always a bonus.
