The property

Hawthorns is a delightful retreat situated in the picturesque Gower National Landscape in Scurlage, Swansea.

With off-road parking for four cars, some family-friendly amenities, enclosed garden, toasty woodburning stove and welcomes one well-behaved dog, making it an ideal escape for families or friends seeking a serene getaway amidst stunning natural beauty.

Set back from the road with neat gravel parking for up to four cars, Hawthorns is a detached, double-fronted house that immediately conveys a sense of welcome.

Step through the front door and into a home where thoughtful touches and natural textures create a warm, grounded atmosphere.

Wooden flooring flows throughout the downstairs, guiding you from space to space with ease.

The heart of the home is the spacious kitchen/diner, where wooden fixtures and a striking feature wall adorned with a large map invite you to plan your next adventure over breakfast.

A generous dining table stands ready for long, laughter-filled meals, while artwork adorning the walls adds character and charm.

From here, move into the first of two sitting rooms, where a woodburning stove flickers beneath a wooden mantelpiece.

Sink into the deep brown sofas, toes sinking into a fluffy rug, and let the evening unfold with a favourite film or quiet conversation.

For a change of pace, the second sitting room offers a welcoming corner sofa and a mounted TV, its glow complemented by the gentle warmth of an electric fire.

A handy cloakroom with basin, heated towel rail and WC is tucked nearby, offering convenience without intrusion.

Upstairs, the flow continues into four inviting bedrooms, each softly carpeted for comfort.

Two double rooms provide restful retreats, one with the added luxury of an en-suite featuring a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

Two twin rooms complete the sleeping arrangements, all thoughtfully decorated to encourage deep, uninterrupted sleep.

A bright, contemporary family bathroom with neat white tiles, bath, basin and WC serves the remaining rooms.

Outside, the large enclosed garden wraps around the property, bordered by a tidy hedge and offering a peaceful haven for morning coffees or afternoon games on the lawn.

As the sun begins to dip, the patio becomes the perfect perch to savour the last golden rays, with birdsong drifting across the neat lawn and the scent of evening blooms hanging in the air.

A stone's throw away is a panoply of wonderful Welsh treasures just waiting to be uncovered.

Hike the National Trust's lush Rhossili and South Gower Coast, an intoxicating stretch of rugged cliffs, golden sands and emerald pastures—you may even encounter a woolly resident or two.

Step back in time with a visit to Oystermouth Castle; perched majestically atop a hill overlooking the seaside town of Mumbles, each stone of this medieval masterpiece whispers tales of knights, battles and timeless beauty.

Immerse yourself in local culture with a tour of Swansea Museum, a charming trove of historical artefacts that reveal the town's rich history and heritage.

In the heart of Scurlage, a serene sanctuary awaits, and its name is Hawthorns.

SCURLAGE

Swansea 14 miles; Rhossili 3.5 miles; Port Eynon 1.5 miles.

Scurlage is a small village, named after the family who built a fortified manor house, although none of the remains of ‘Scurlage Castle’ have survived. This little village is between the popular beachside villages of Rhossili and Port Eynon and is close to the fantastic beaches of the Gower Peninsula including Oxwich Bay. A perfect central location to be a short distance from fantastic coastline and the iconic Worms Head. The little village has various footpaths crisscrossing the area, shop, pharmacy, doctors surgery and take-away, but still retains its sleepy village personality.
